What is happening in Ohio and NC? From what I can tell from Twitter is Biden is doing extremely well.

Better than I would've expected, truthfully, with both around 62% counted.

What I don't get is some sites have called states already, with 0% of the vote counted. Yahoo shows Biden winning Virginia in their ec vote, yet trump has 58% of the vote there, with 41% of votes counted.

Note, when any of the states show a percentage of votes counted, I think that means in person votes? Not absentee or mail in ballots?

Things are very confusing this year with how the early votes are counted and processed.
All of the early vote in ohio was counted as well as the absentees (amazing how some states can get these counted in 3 hours and it takes other states 2 weeks), so Biden got out to an early lead with the early and absentee voters.

Take Wyoming. 0% counted, yet yahoo says trump wins? I guess they base that on history?

Now, cnn hasn't called Virginia, but some sites have, for Biden, even though he's down 58% to 40%.

I know that they use polling data from today to help make their decision. They also use raw numbers in certain counties to help as well. That didn’t go so well in Florida a couple of decades ago.

Well if nothing else I’m enjoying my night. I got hired to do some staging for an online concert. So I’m now sitting in a nearly empty theater watching incredible musicians tearing into some live music. A rare treat in pandemic times.

PA has 2 million votes to count tomorrow.

over 60% are ballots requested by dems.

Biden has PA.

PA will win him the election once all the votes are counted.

MI and WI are counting election day votes before the early votes through absentee and other means. Data from MI and WI looks like a fair amount of the early vote will go dem.

Biden will be declared the winner by this time next week if not sooner.

Florida and Texas should have been called already. While the Atlanta metro area has a ton of not reported yet, I think it is insurmountable by Biden. Similarly, looking at where things are in Arizona (by county), I think AZ is done too.

It will come down to PA, MI, and WI as expected.

Not sure how you can be so certain. That's 1.2m to Biden and 800k to Trump. I know there will be some "others" in there but we'll use those for easier math.

Currently Trump has 2.5m and Biden has 1.9m. if the numbers hold that's 3.3m for Trump and 3.1m for Biden.

I don't really care, I didn't vote for either of them. Following the results out of sheer morbid curiosity.

The major population centers in MI, PA, and WI went primarily absentee. The data behind those who requested an absentee ballot shows more registered dems requested a mail-in ballot.

He'll easily clean up in the major population centers and counties. GA is now in play due to returns finally coming out of the Atlanta metro area.

This is a Biden win.

Things will change as Biden will be able to control the senate due to runoffs in the senate which favor the dems. Such runoffs will allow policy to get passed for a public option in healthcare, where someone who makes 50k will only have to pay 3k a year (not ideal, no one should have to pay), free post-secondary education through state colleges or trade schools, and a pathway for citizenship to undocumented migrants who currently contribute to our economy.

These policies will win over Trump voters as they realize they actually benefit from this rather that the trickle-down snake oil nonsense that has been peddled by the GOP since Regan. It'll only require a tax increase on those who can actually afford an increase.

This is a new America emerging, Columbus. Out with fascism and in with a country that works for the entire population rather than those sitting on mountains of cash.

What states have runoff elections other than Georgia? As of 3:30 am Perdue has 51% of the vote. Loeffer (sp) is in runoff territory. Arizona and Colorado have gone blue. Michigan is looking to flip one to red. All other Republicans that are incumbents are winning their races.

While I agree with you about Trump and his lead because of absentee voting that is outstanding is heavily democratic, Biden has to make up huge amounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania. I’m just not that confident he will come out on top.

Margins are razor thin on both sides. MI, WI, and PA waited till the end to count all the early and absentee ballots. Those typically favor dems especially since they can keep tabs on what person requested based off of registration.

I'll break this down state by state for my reasoning. I could be totally off but I'm jut comparing data from 2020 to 2016 as provided by the NYT election pages.
------------------
PA

Biden's path in PA seems daunting, but Pittsburgh has a fair amount remaining. Pittsburgh still has to report 30% and Biden 283k. Hillary received 367k in 2016. Biden has another 84k coming depending on how the margins shift or stay the same.

When you look at Philadelphia, they've only reported 48%. Hillary received 584k and Biden has already received 289K. Suburban areas such as Lehigh County (Biden missing at least 25k), Erie County (Biden missing 17K), and Bucks (missing 50k) should given Biden the votes he needs. There's a few other counties that can shift, but it's going to ultimately depend on turnout.
---------------------
MI

Wayne County, where Detroit is located, has the most outstanding votes. Election officials in Wayne county reported record turnout. Biden is missing at least 200k in Detroit and probably many more based on the turnout numbers. Detroit can win MI for Biden.
---------------------
WI

Milwaulkee and Green Bay are still processing mail-in votes. Biden is still waiting on what Hillary won plus then some. Even Kneosha is tight.
---------------------
GA

Atlanta stopped counting tonight. Biden has overperformed in the Atlanta metro area and there's a fair amount of votes still to go in that area.
---------------------

Given the current shuffle of the electoral college, Biden can lose PA, OH, and GA but he must carry MI, WI, NV and AZ.

This scenario gives Biden exactly 270.

This is such a bonkers race.

I hope we defeat fascism.

So, woke up looking at handful of states still counting, with Biden up 221-213.

Why did trump declare victory? And why is he threatening to go to the SC? Everybody knew mail in ballots has to be counted. How can the election be a fraud when counting ballots is literally how elections work?

I dunno why he isn’t patient anyway. He’s probably gonna win. And man do I need to get the hell up out of Ohio.

regardless of who wins, im ticked off at all the states and both parties.

they all freaking knew mail in ballots were gonna be counted. how in god's name does NO ONE come up with the easy decision to hire ballot counters and throw a couple more thousand bucks at them to pull an all nighter counting ballots?

we got night shifts for literally everything in this country. but nah, ballot counters needed to go to bed.

So the Dems keep the house, and senate most likely staying gop.

So....4 more years of gridlock regardless of who wins the oval? Yay.

Trump can't swing back with WI or MI... He'll be lucky to sweep GA, NC and PA but has a good chance.

The election comes down to Nevada:

Biden win = presidency 270/268

Trump win = presidency 274/264

I've got to believe the political polling industry is about dead after the last 2 presidential elections.

They were off 7% on multiple swing states! And they can't blame it on voter turnout!

Stocks rallying due to Republicans keeping the Senate. This means that even if Biden wins they won't be able to pass any of their far left radical agenda.
