What will be nice is if we keep the scheme for more than a year or two. Then you can draft to the scheme and develop depth. I hope after all these years, we can keep the thing together for a decade or so. One can dream.
I just felt the need to quote this for Truth's sake.
Ever since the Browns came back, they've been, for the most part, a rudderless ship. Endless regime changes, roster purges, and lack of mission purpose have kept the Browns in the cellar of one of the most stable divisions for the past 10-20 years. Even CIN stuck with Lewis for years and routinely did better than we.
Since the days of the old board, my mantra has been about developing and maintaining a Cleveland Browns culture... that persona/mission imperative for for which the team can be known. A team without consistency at the top has no hope of developing it.
We seem to have the beginnings of that in this team/FO. It's insanely early in this team's current makeup to project, but it looks as though CLE has hit upon a group that can work together at 76 Groza for the unified goal of putting out superior product. There have been no reports or even whispers at dysfunction within the power structure, competence seems to be the order of the day, and the team plays with more heart, spirit and yes, discipline than I've seen in I don't know how long.
I want very much to see what might get built from this most promising foundation.
10 wins. In an inaugural year. That doesn't happen very often at all.
What a flying start.
Please don't Browns this thing up.
