Came aross this earlier when researching FA and it stuck with me:
John Johnson Rams' Defensive Signal Caller

If we are going with Wilson, Takitaki, and Phillips (or a rookie) at LB, it makes sense to have a guy that's called plays at S. And he can actually play.

Well we should now have three starting quality safeties to use in Woods defense.

In terms of guaranteed money Johnson will be the fourth highest paid safety in the league as of today.

I like that he just turned 26 as well. A young FA acquisition.

Johnson called the defensive plays for the Rams, which is unusual for a safety. He was in every down. Solid!

And the annual average per year & total value is 8th, I think.

How big of a cap hit for 2021?

Seems like a good signing

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Can't wait for the obligiatory post, that says, annoyingly always says,

Oh since they sign player A, it means player B is definetly leaving the team.

So, emm, Delpit, let's go with him. " I guess this means the end of the career for Delpit. Aw SHOOT! I SPOKE TOO SOON,

They better bring back Terrence Mitchell, Mitchell has been the most consistent and highest playing time receiving DB on the Browns for probably 2.5 years, You don't cut the guy who can stay healthy and help you win by suiting up for the majority of games for 2.5 years, in leiu of some player who you don't yet know how he fits into your game play.

Re Sign Mitchell! The Team needs him. "Winning!"

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Nice signing! Fills what I thought was our biggest weakness last year. Now we just need another edge rusher, a LB, and a couple corners before the draft.

Excited to see how Woods uses our 3 young, talented safetys this year!

This FA signing may be addressing, stopping Lamar Jackson.

It seems like it doesn’t break the bank either. He may be a pretty good value

Safety is off the FA list Now we need:

LB
EDGE
DT
CB

Pleases me a bunch. Have advocated getting strong up the middle on D. Our young LBs need a smart caller who whiffs less. Suddenly, we are tougher IMO. thumbsup

A great signing. High level player, and a reasonable contract. Another solid move by the front office.

If he turns out as good as I hope, they can renegotiate his contract in a couple of seasons and lock him down for another 3-4 years when the cap money is back up..

I'm guessing the more money would have also included more years, and he would rather cash in again when there is a higher cap while still under 30 y/o. Plus, we did something like 2/3 guaranteed.

Wanting to win probably factored in, too.

I'm just hoping "Team X" doesn't offer significantly more again before he signs the deal with us. ...I'm still working through the residual effects of years of Battered Browns Fan Syndrome. fingerscrossed

THis is a huge get. Individually we have some great defenders and a very opportunistic defense. The thing that tends to expose the D though is getting outcoached and getting put out o position on the field too.

Needed a defensive player who can take charge and call things on the field as well. And we got em. Hopefully this means less players being out of position..

More speed goes a long way to not being out of position, too.

Oh stop worrying. He was seen late this afternoon looking at houses out near where Bill Cowher was buying his.

Yeah, but any reports yet of him buying an interest in Orlando Pace's restaurant in Sandusky?

I’ve watched a little film on him and see him as a hybrid type player ... he’s really good in the box and durable. Pretty good early returns IMO

A front office and agents still believe in ethics. It's still a bad look if one or the other backs out of a handshake deal.

I am not worried about it.

I don't see him as a box player. He will be the deep guy. Harrison will be the guy most likely to crowd up to the LOS. He has more of the build.
