Back when I was 12 my brother graduated high school and went off to the Naval Academy. I knew Carl Yastrzemski was his favorite baseball player so when I went to the stadium to see the Sox play the Tribe, I was determined to get Carl's autograph for him. I got there very early, as usual, and stood by the corner of the dugout. Upon seeing Carl, I yelled out for him to sign the baseball card I had. He said he'd get me on his way back in. By the time he came off the field after bp and fielding practice, there was a big crowd around me. Mr. Yastrzemski signed for me and walked away. He won my heart and I started rooting for the Sox right then.
I moved to Boston the year Carl retired and saw his last games at Fenway with Dawgylama. The Sox were playing the Indians and Lama got tix right behind home plate for the weekend from one of the players. It was really quite amazing to be there for that.
Years later, the Sox were playing the Indians when Carl's number was retired. I had gotten tix from a friend for that game and sat right across the aisle from the scout who signed Yaz.
I've been loyal to them for over 30 years and went through all the hard times. Just like being a Browns fan, it hasn't been easy. Seeing this team win like this is surreal but oh so- wonderful. Still wish I could have seen Carl and some other old-timers get rings but some things just aren't meant to be.

I agree there should be a salary cap. But, until there is one, all we're doing is playing by the rules in front of us.
That's not really all you're doing.... if you look up who is for and against some kind of salary structure.... I'll give you 3 guesses who is against it... and fighting it adamently....
