That is the key. Eat right. Move more.

Sounds simple but it is not if your life lead to way different habits.

You got this. As each week passes and you begin to detox you will get stronger and feel better.

That's 35# lost so far, and about 3 pant sizes. I am happy, but I still have about 95# more to go. So far so good though.

Soon, what you now consider a diet will become a lifestyle. Humans are creatures of habit.

Congrats on what you've accomplished so far. You're crushing it!

Thanks guys.

When I started this diet, I was not going to buy any more even bigger pants than I was wearing at that point. In fact, I got to a 52" pants size, and then those even got too small to wear. I could not fasten them, and was living in sweats and t-shirts, since most of my regular shirts and "shrunk" and were also too small.

Today I put on a size 48" waist pants, that I hadn't worn in over 2 years .... and they are a little loose. laugh I suspect that I will be down to a 46 within 2 weeks.

I am glad that I held onto my smaller clothes. wink

There is a series on Netflix that is truly fascinating called "Human" the world inside.

Each episode cover different systems in the body.

The first episode is on the brain and the nervous systems. The series is presented in such a way that it makes complex systems understandable.

I mention this because it maybe helpful.

The second episode is on the heart and circulation. The third is on "fuel" and the digestive system. It is fascinating but I think more importatly it is informative.

It will give a real understanding of "your body."

And maybe it will give insight on to fuel your body.

I weighed in this morning at 287#. I was too big for a 52" waist when I started, today I comfortably fit into a 48" waist. I am off the blood pressure meds, and almost off one of my diabetes meds. My sugar has been between 70 and 105 in both the morning and evening tests. (fasted, before meals) I can drive my truck and my gut no longer hits the steering wheel. Scary. lol

I am so happy for how this is going. I can honestly say that I really haven't been hungry. My doctor wanted to give me a medication to "ease the discomfort", but I have had no discomfort. I actually feel like I am eating more than I was before, in terms of the amount of food, I am just eating better food. I do take an "off schedule" day once when 2 weeks or so. I called it a cheat day, but my doctor objects to that term, so "Off schedule" it is.

Anyway, that's my update. 325# on April 16, 2021 .... and 287# on Just 16, 2021. laugh

Good job man! Yes, often time it's what we eat and not so much how much we're eating.

I haven't been following this thread, but I probably should have been. I weighed 316 on April 9. Today I weighed 287.5, so I right there with you step for step. I have an appointment with my physician on Monday to determine what medication changes are in order, specifically MetFormin levels. My objective is to settle into a range of 200-210. If successful, I will have dropped 110 lbs, the weight of several people I know.

This is all such positive news.

Keep this thread going. W84 and you are on target.

You guys may find this interesting.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/16/health/swimming-covid-blues-weight-loss-wellness/index.html

I have been lap swimming over ten years. At 73 my weight is about the same as it was at 35. I figure in ten years I have swam over 1k miles.

If it was not for swimming I think walking would be super painful. I have osteo arthritis common with age. But lack of movement makes it way way worse.

Weight loss will help you in so many ways.

I can't wait to hear about all the things you will be able to do that you could not do before.

I weighed in at 278.8# this morning. I am down from having outgrown a 52" waist to a 48" being too big. (I have to wear a belt, or they fall off) crazy Not quite to a 46, but that day is coming soon. I am off one of my diabetic medications (out of 4) and have had another cut to a third, and my sugar readings (day and night, fasting) are down to the 70-90 range. My blood pressure is down to 110/65 or so on most days, and I am down to a very low dose of my blood pressure meds. Doc wants me to stay on that low dose, because there is a protective quality for the kidneys for diabetics.

I get a little discouraged sometimes, when I look at myself in "profile", and I still see this huge gut in front of me, but I can definitely see progress, so that's what's important.

I hope all is well with you. I can't wait to watch some real football! laugh

Congrats on the weight loss! Dont worry about the profile. I think it all goes downhill after age 30 no matter what you weigh, unless youre a gym rat.

That is some damn good news.

Especially the meds. All meds have have side effects. The fact that your doctor is on board with the reductions is fantastic.

Perserverance is key along with patience.

You are on target. Your head is in the right place.
All good. congrats.

Football soon.

Stubborn sounds like such an ugly word. I have learned that using the term "strong willed" sounds so much better and has a more positive tone to it! wink

Just a suggestion. Look at those numbers on the scale. Look at those waist sizes on your pants. They're telling you the real story. The mirror will lie to you.

I would say compare it to having children. When a child is your own you are with that child every day. That child is changing and growing every day. The thing is, you're with that child every day and as such the subtle changes aren't that evident to you. Then you run into someone who hasn't seen your child in a few months and they say, "My how your child has grown!"

That's what's happening with you when you use the mirror to gauge things. From day to day it seems to you like things aren't changing. But the scale is telling you the real story. The waist size on those pants are telling you the real story.

Stay strong willed my friend!

The term strong willed says the exact same thing but sounds so much better! wink

I was taught that it's not really about what you say nearly as much as it is the way you say it.

I'm stubborn, and I'm gonna stay stubborn! wink

I have a bunch of shirts that I could no longer wear because ... *ahem* they must have shrunk. I can now wear them, and actually have quite a fair amount of room in them.

I have been doing some static exercises, because I can't do too much involving my back. I have noticed that I am not so round overall. My gut was round all the way around, and now I kind of flatten out in the front.

I will definitely remain stubborn. wink rofl
