That's why many black areas wait for hours to vote while you don't. Purely an accident that happens over and over and over again. You can use any excuse to blind yourself. And this is because of racism? You have no idea how long I wait to vote nor why these areas take longer to vote. None. So it must be racially driven. You can excuse that resisting arrest, a crime punishable by one year year in prison is an excuse for murder. All of that seems to be working well for you so far. Excuse for murder? Jeesh. Here's the deal. Had these people - regardless of color - not resisted arrest, they could be alive today. Many did not "deserve" to die...some did. Again I will say, what event has been investigated and proven to have been racially motivated? Maybe it was...but we have NO IDEA...yet people of influence run around proclaiming that the entire nation is racist because of what happened. There is the problem...THAT creates the division.

I saw exactly what he said. Did you? I even quoted it. There is a common misconception that only urban, black neighborhoods are major areas of crime. That's simply not true. Poverty is the driving force behind crime. It always has been and always will be. That comes in all colors.
And this board isn't "90-10 LEFT". Those on the left do tend to post more but the actual count of people that post here from both sides are pretty equal.

Once again you bring up "resisting arrest". That is a crime even a judge can only hand down a maximum sentence of one year in jail for in the state of Minnesota. It's time to stop blaming the victim because you think that's the answer to prevent cops from handing down the death penalty. Society no longer buys into that BS.

If it bothers you so much why are you here? I pop in few times a year to see what people are saying about the Browns, but notice how long I've been around, as long as the oldest posters on this board. But when I come back I'm reminded within minutes why I stay away! The comments blow my mind and remind me why I don't watch the news either!

I understand that refusing to look at the facts and what's actually going on around you makes it much easier to hold onto the things you "feel".
We really aren't as far apart on this issue as you seem to think. Reading the entire thread would show you that. I have stated repeatedly in this thread that I believe this was a justified shooting on the part of the officer. All of these incidents should be evaluated on a case by case basis.
You'll always have those on the fringe of both parties who misrepresent things and paint a false narrative. As I've stated many times neither side has the market cornered on that. For some reason you seem to act as though they do. And that's a big part of the problem.
Making excuses why it's a rational train of thought to conclude that it's the responsibility of our citizens not to resist arrest to stay alive is another part of the problem. I liken that to someone that commits domestic violence saying, "Well if she hadn't mouthed off in the kitchen I wouldn't have had to slap her." The punishment does not fit the crime.

Me too. I pray for a day that all of our people have healthcare and stop using education as a cash cow for profit. Not free college, but more affordable college. I live in a very red state that allows everyone who graduates here two years of community college at no cost to them. A Republican program. I look forward to a day when such a model is used in every state.
I'm not someone who thinks every liberal idea and program are the right choice. I'm also not one who thinks we should use excuses to perpetuate a lower class to work full time and make poverty wages. There is a middle ground but neither side is willing to move there.
Just as with these shootings that are going on around our nation. There is no one size fits all. Each has its own set of circumstances and should be looked at accordingly. That's not a liberal idea.

I'm around all types of people of all types of views everyday but this board is 90-10 LEFT! HARDLY! If anything this board has a hard conservative lean, with the left leaning posters being less than 30% IMHO.

Had derrick Chauvin not have laid on George Floyd's neck for 9:29 seconds he would be alive today. See how that works? Please show me where one person on this entire board has said "all cops are racists". Let me save you some time. Nobody has. Are there racists within police forces across the country? Yes there are. That holds true for every large group of people and the cops are no exception to the rule. I've never, nor has anyone else on this board ever said "all cops are racists". While it usually doesn't do any good, unless we have discussions with those who think differently than we do, there is never an understanding reached.
There are a lot of people who read this board that never post. I'm not so much interacting with them to find some understanding with them as I am to put forth a discussion for others to see.
The entire premise of using the fact someone resisting arrest is why they get murdered or killed is ludicrous. Showing that to everyone who sees these posts gives them the chance to see that for themselves. It's not the Trumpians I'm trying to reach. It's not those whose minds are etched in stone I'm trying to reach.

I vaguely remembered a poll put out a little while ago, and yes... the board does lean significantly conservative.

Given that you likely only hang around people who are of the same view, I'm not surprised that you think that. To you (and probably many others), this board is so "FAR LEFT" while others also seem to think it's prevalent with racists and fascists.
As far as I'm concerned, if we're all a little uncomfortable, but open to discussion, then we're doing it right.
Too often, people refuse to acknowledge that their world views may be incorrect. I know mine probably is.
We are all indoctrinated on something and reinforced as we get older and it becomes a core principle, and when challenged, our amygdala perceives it as an existential threat, hence all the shouting matches on here.
It's a basic instinct. However, we are one of the few species that actually has the capacity to outweigh our core instincts with logic and reason when we acknowledge anomalies in common sense. That has become overpowered by the rising use of fear and anger porn in modern media which seeks to control by enveloping us in our basic instincts, but we do have the ability to still rise from that.
For that reason, I do appreciate this board. I'm around all types of people of all types of views everyday but this board is 90-10 LEFT! Lots of Very smart Browns Fans I guess

It's an irrational thought process. It's accepting that a cop has the right to kill someone for committing a misdemeanor. On point, 15 yr old girl was armed, she was attempting to stab people, if cop did nothing and someone's hurt badly or killed he/she gets screwed, and shooting her they get screwed....how do they do the "perfect thing" in seconds....while you read this she killed two people......Peace.

You ever been in a life and death situation....Probably not. Cops are not trained to shoot once. I'm NOT happy a young girl died.....I am happy she didn't hurt anyone...but watch the video and answer this question...if your love one was on the end of her jabbing and thrusting a large knife...you'd want the cop to let it continue until someone was stabbed right. If my kids or grandkids could have been stabbed I bitch they didn't shoot soon enough. JMHO

My career was working with special needs kids like this child. The system is flawed for foster kids and I believe the system (training) is flawed for police officers. I've been in situations that required me to think quick about how to protect one child in crisis from another child in crisis. BUT, that's how I was trained. Officers are trained to put bullets in center core body. I'm not judging the officer. I'm judging the whole paradigm.

We were not there, great you work with special needs kids. You know them thru close contact over and over. You didn't answer the question- your love one being attacked AND you don't have your experience with special kids. The system didn't kill the kid, whoever was supervising or taking care of her let her down and unfortunately it cost her life. Terrible, but I don't want my love one killed by an out of control special needs kid.
Pray for all of us, hopefully she's in a better place now.

You don't shoot once then wait to measure the situation. That is a good way to end up dead. That is just the way it is, like it or not.
