Eve is absolutely right. I'm surprised you didn't know that. If you called China when you served would Biden call you a hero? You would be Big Bubba's girl friend at Levenworth.

TBH, I'm not even 100% certain he did a single thing outside the purview of his job. But I know talking about preventing an unhinged lunatic POTUS from launching a first strike with an illegal order is well within his job description. Elections have consequences and y'all elected a crazy fascist wannabe tyrant then he lost and launched an insane coup attempt in the form of propaganda and insurrection. But you guys want to talk trash about him because he what? Didn't let Trump start a war with China or North Korea? Because he addressed procedure with staff about illegal orders while thinking that Trump was completely bonkers? What is the right so mad about? Sometimes it feels like you guys buy your underwear in a permanent wad.

What's wrong these days is that we have gone so far astray that we have forgotten that Congress is supposed to declare war, not a single individual. To disobey an illegal order by the President would actually be what he is supposed to do.

I don't care if people consider it treasonous or not or who the President is. If Generals need to break rules in order to keep peace between nuclear powers, then that is what needs to happen.

Should a General be discussing hypotheticals like this with foreign power? I don't know.
In fact, I think this story is most likely a fabrication and this conversation never actually happened.

Similarly, I have my suspicions regarding him promising to tell China if an attack was coming. I don't know how these things works, but giving your opponent a heads up would probably put your soldiers in increased danger.

Or maybe it's to coordinate a show of force that's ultimately meaningless (Trump's missile strike vs Turkish (?) airfield comes to mind). I don't know, but that portion of the article sounded like it was lacking crucial context.

I would really love for them to show me the actual military protocol that Milley broke. I mean emotional tirades are to be expected from them as it seems to be their normal response to everything. They are just usually a little short on the facts side of things.

I know you and OCD hate Trump. He was the Commander in Chief. In the Military you have something called the Chain of Command. In no way are you allowed to break it.You can't have soldiers under your command undermining your orders. You and
OCD think Trump was unhinged.I don't.

In the military you can't have people running around doing their own thing. You especially don't undermine the C-in-C.Its not the General's job to decide the Prez is unhinged, because his politics are different than yours. He is not a hero he should be shot as a traitor.

I hated Clinton. Does that give me the right to call up the enemy and talk policy?

Experts in military-civilian relations say whether Milley stepped out of line depends on what he said, not the fact of his meetings in themselves.

HATE is not nearly strong enough a word to describe my feelings for that traitorous snake in the grass. I find him despicable in every way possible. He is a cancer on our country. He is a fascist. He is un-American in almost every way.

And I'll tell you duty, I don't blame people for supporting him in 2016. They didn't know how bad he was going to be... but if you supported him in 2020, I have nothing for you at all. If you support him beyond January 6th, then I consider you a traitor as well. That's how I feel. That's how most Americans feel. But about 30% are still in his clutches and still on the ride, a ride that is going to end very ugly.

And no damn body is going to question my patriotism or service while being a Trump supporter... That said Duty, I did my 4 in the Navy, but you already know that. And my wife is retired guard, which I'm sure I've posted previously too. We are a military family with uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews serving as well. We talked our boy who turned 18 on 9/11 out of joining then. Glad we did too, after seeing what this country has become under GOPers.

So now let me ask you, how can you be proud of your service and still back the man that brought you January the 6th? That is the single most cowardly crap I've ever seen any elected official pull, let alone a POTUS. This is a big reason why I wouldn't give a damn if Milley had slapped Trump into chains... Trump was up to no damn good and Milley saw it coming. He's a damn hero, period.

I think I got it... but I had to read it twice.

In his first sentence, he was responding to (and agreeing with) you.
In his second, he was addressing 'Peen with advice on how to respond.

At least that's how I read it.

Former Joint Chiefs chairman says Milley reassuring China over Trump nuclear fears was ‘routine’ call
John Bowden
Sun, September 19, 2021, 12:01 PM·2 min read

A retired Navy admiral who served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking military officer in the US, under President Barack Obama says that a wave of conservative anger surrounding Gen Mark Milley, the current chairman, is unwarranted.

Michael Mullen told ABC’s This Week in an interview on Sunday that the phone calls with a top Chinese general in the final days of former President Donald Trump’s time in the White House to reassure him about the stability of both the US government and US-China relations was “routine” and an encouraging sign of dialogue between the two superpowers.

“Having communications with counterparts around the world is routine, and even having them now with China,” he told ABC’s Martha Raddatz.

He added that Mr Milley’s call was “listened to by other people in the inter-agency process”, meaning that it was not done without the knowledge of the US intelligence and military community.

When asked about the specific portion of one reported call in which Gen Milley is alleged to have said that he would warn his Chinese counterpart if former President Donald Trump were to order a military strike against China as part of his erratic final days in office, Mr Mullen said that he was “hopeful that actually that part isn’t true”, and went on to add how alarming it was that China’s government was apparently so concerned with the stability of the US as Mr Trump was leaving office.

“The misread by China is also worrisome and it speaks to the need to have these open communications,” he said.

Some Republicans on Capitol Hill have called for Mr Milley’s ouster in recent days, seeing vulnerability in the Biden administration’s Defence team as criticism remains over the US’s handling of its withdrawal from Afghanistan and the pile-on of controversy that occurred when it was reported in the new book Peril by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa that Gen Milley had contacted Gen Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army and reassured him about any effort by the president to direct a military strike against China.

Gen Milley has defended his conduct, and the criticism of his actions has roundly been dismissed by most top former officials in the Defence and National Security spheres who have commented on the issue, including John Bolton, who was appointed to serve as White House national security adviser by Mr Trump.

Republicans have grown more vocal and outlandish in their criticism of the Biden administration’s Defence team in recent weeks over the issues of Afghanistan and now China, with various lawmakers on Capitol Hill aiming allegations of treasonous behaviour at not only Gen Milley but Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President Joe Biden, and others.

I had no idea you were a United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and understood exactly how that position works and what those duties are. Sometimes it's amazing the things we learn on Dawgtalkers.

Ok then.. so to be clear, ANY American who believes something bad MIGHT happen and who doesn't trust the President, in an effort to put America First, should reach out and try to get an audience with foreign powers to brief then on the current situation here in America and discuss how things are going to be handled internally.....

Like Trump and his lackeys all did with Russia... Truth is none of us know for sure how often crap like this happens. But we do know Trump was off his rocker and completely unhinged at the time.

And for those of you who think Milley did something egregious in his actions, ask yourself if you would be happier had he went along with Trump and helped to overthrow our democracy and install Trump as an authoritarian leader? Your answers to this will show you who the real traitors are.
