Tubby wasn't good enough for UK.

Gosh, no arrogance there.

He took the 98 team that was handed to him, and eventually turned it into what we've been the last couple years, due to poor recruiting.

Yeah, this had nothing to do with the kids eventually graduating and several of them heading to the NBA. I also assume that the new coach will get no credit when he does start to win with Tubby's recruits. Oh, wait, yes he will because it's all Tubby's fault whne you lose but the new guy's credit when he wins.

That's Gary Williams problem... great coach, poor recruiter.

We could debate that all day but my first impression would be that either means he's not really a great coach or that he's not as bad a recruiter as you say, he's just in a down cycle. Which happens to everyone.

I always love how when a guy is winning he's a genius but when he has a few losing seasons it was all the assistants doing it and now they've left so he's a bum.

It wasn't true when he was at OSU and it's not true now. Every coach has a bad streak occasionally. I mean, that's what you guys continually say about RAC.....

Getting awful quiet over there? Yeah, Kentucky getting shallacked by a Gardner-Webb team (9-21 last year, DI some unknown conference)....

Parity in college hoops? I'd believe it. I mean theres only 5 guys who can play at a time and whatnot...

In fairness to Top, he didn't come into this thread talking his normal Big Ten / Ohio State smack. All he did was point out the fact that Maryland has had a National Championship more recent than the Buckeyes.

Gary Williams has admitted that recruiting is his least favorite part of the job and let's see... when Gary had his old staff, he got Joe Smith, Keith Booth, Steve Francis, Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, Lonnie Baxter, Chris Wilcox, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Terence Morris, Laron Profit... since that staff left 5 years ago he's got..... he's got..... who? DJ Strawberry?

Don't you think it's odd that a team wins a national championship, which SHOULD make your school more marketable than it's ever been to top rank recruits... (Gary also admitted that the national championship was getting him into homes all over the country that he probably never would have gotten into before).... and then immediatly starts downhill for 5 years? So 1 of 2 things happened, the recruits have stayed the same and Gary forgot how to coach... or the quality of players coming in has gone down... I'm inclined to believe the latter.... and given what I know about Gary and recruiting, I've formed my opinion that he wasn't doing a whole lot of it.

No, Gary is still a great coach.. and he does have some good young players now, so we'll see. I really hope you're right.

Gary Williams had the same knock when he was at OSU. Randy Ayers was doing all the recruiting, they said. Except when they made Randy the coach all of a sudden he couldn't recruit or coach. Funny, really.

Gary will do alright. I'd bet on it. Everyone goes through a down cycle. It's much harder to recruit now that all the players think they should be in the NBA before they graduate HS.

Anyone know where I can get a Findlay Basketball shirt?

Probably at the same store that sells Appalachian State Shirts

KING

That was my point. Just a friendly little rib that OSU fans actually bought Appalachian State gear when they beat UM.

This kind of stuff is going to happen,....I don't hold my breath over it.

I saw Armanti Edwards in person last weekend,...it's no wonder Appalachian State beat Michigan.

No responses? I guess I'm the only one that finds this funny...

I think it's hilarious to be honest. Glad it didn't count OSU is young but still should be able to beat Findlay. They'll get better
