I would say it's one opening their eyes. Nothing to do with bandwagon at all.

Illinois handed down a beating and OSU was outclassed across the board. It really was not as close as the score says it was.

I wouldn't say we were outcoached, we were just outplayed. However calling that TO on 4th and 1 turned out to be the difference maker.

Sometimes everything just works. You have to give ILL credit though, they played a pretty much flawless game.

This is the game I was worried about all season. The Illini always play us tough.

Big game against UM next week, we are now both trying to save our seasons.

That is going to be a good game.

OSU will be playing as a 1 loss team wanting to make a statement and Mich will be playing to erase the memory of Appy St.

Should be a good game for a trip to the Rose Bowl. The other gets the Outback .....with no Championship game...the Big 10 is probably left out of a second BCS game.

Well, I'm as dissapointed as anyone, but at least we lost to a good team with good attitudes. Thank god it was't by the hand of stupid Florida or Mich.

Man, this one stings, let's erase it tomorrow with a Browns W!

I agree with this. Still wish Tressel would've challenged that run in the first quarter. It could've been a difference maker. Still, that's no excuse to let a QB run for back-to-back first downs on a third-and-long, or even be put in that situation in the first place.

Not directed at you Jay.

As Todd Boeckman goes, Ohio State goes. He played bad today.

Lots of credit to Ron Zook, and Juice Williams.-Reminds me of Troy Smith

How can any Buckeyes fans complain. After the 2005 season, we lost AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, Santonio Holmes, and plenty of other players. Yet, in 2006, we took it all the way to the National Championship game. After the 2006 season, we lost A Heisman winner -Troy Smith, we lost T. Ginn, Anthony Gonzalez, Michael Pittman,Quinn Pitcock and many others. Yet, here we were, in week 11, fighting for a shot at the National Championship. The Buckeyes are a football program that other schools try to model themselves after. I look forward to next week, and hopefully forwards to a Rose Bowl appearance. As for the fellow Dawgtalkers, I love all you guys, and hope the Browns can pull one out tommorow.

Yes you are right becaue if it wasnt for the missed throws of Boeckman we would have had about 21 more points. Plus their firsr TD should not have been one.

I have not been high on Boeckman all year even when we were winning, I thought he made a lot of bad throws and it finally cost us today.

This is not to tak anything away from The Illini. They did what they had to do and we didnt. They deserve it and we deserve to be what we are, just another 1 loss team.

Just a few random comments.

1.) I didn't take any satisfaction in seeing OSU lose. I wanted nothing less then a 7-0 showdown. Still can't believe OSU and UM tanked today.......

2.) I hate to say I told you so but I kept saying over and over and over that Boeckman would cost OSU at least one game this season and he did. I never believed he was THAT good and it showed today. He looked like Charlie Frye in the red-zone.

3.) Everyone better be prepared for the media lashing that is about to follow. I said the conference was down this season but my god.......I'm not looking forward to hearing that moron Mark May.

4.) Good luck next week.......hopefully each team can bounce back and put on a good show. I don't want to be on either end of a blowout. Both these teams will really be looking to take their frustration out on each other.....hopefully it's a classic.

i agree... he's not jumping off the bandwagon, he's pointing out the obvious

the funny thing is, had he said that the defense was still awesome, even though they lost, he'd be hearing it from a lot of people on this board...

ohio state's defense today was abysmal... i'm kinda glad we lost, because i'd rather have them exposed in conference, then exposed like they were in january...

i think this may keep a lot of juniors from leaving early, as they may want to come back and make another run at it...

congrats to the illini though, they played well the entire game, their quarterback made a hell of a lot more plays than ours did...

and everyone is jumping on them now, but they haven't lost a conference game in over 2 years

i do think next year will be the year of the buckeye, they could possibly be returning 20 of 22 starters

i'm really not even that upset about it, i think i'm more excited about tomorrow, because while we all may be divided on college teams, tomorrow we all come together, funny how it works

In college football the coach does not challenge the play it is up the replay official in the booth. I do wish however Tress had called a timeout to keep them from snapping the ball and giving the official in the booth moe time to review the play.

I hope Mark May is gone after this year. He was a USC homer now hes washing the SECs jockstrap. I dont wish for him to be out of a job just not working with ESPN.

I'm humored by the fact that you feel he changes which teams he is a homer for. Could it be that he simply feels like certain teams are better from year-to-year, like analysts tend to do?

i think mark may knows a ton about the game, and about the many teams, he does his homework...

but there are certain teams he likes to pile on, and i do think he has a little bit of a bias against the big ten (it seems like everyone outside the big ten doesn't like the big ten)

he is a very good analyst though...

Which is why I dont want him losing his job just not working at ESPN and constantaly hearing him bash the big ten year after year.... Oh yeah to answer the 4th down TO by tressel it was because we had 12 men on the field. I have a question where was Robiske?!?!

It always is.

Good thing it is not in the Shoe this year, we probably would have seen more Appy State shirts than OSU ones! The students probably have done a "Maroon out" or something.

The Big Ten doesn't deserve bashing this year? Or for that matter, last year? I know Michigan and OSU were good last year in the Big Ten, but what happened when they met USC and Florida? There is no basis to think that the Big Ten is overrated? I guess I'm biased too...

I get wanting commentators that agree with your perspective, but you also might have scarlet and gray glasses on when you're complaining. I know that I can't honestly evaluate the ACC or the MAC when it comes to football because of the teams I root for. From my perspective, I think Mark May is by far the best college football commentator on any network. Do you think Herbstreit is in the least bit biased, by the way?

j/c That game was won in the trenches. Illinois opened up the holes (especially in the 4th qtr.) and gave their qb time to have a career passing day. The Buckeyes didn't.

Couldn't possibly be that he didn't get recruited by the Big Ten and ended up at Pitt,...

This IS the same reasoning Trev Alberts used, if you remember, he hated the Big Ten too, since he was an Iowa boy and his only scholarship offer came form Nebraska.

Doesn't mean Ohio State won't get an at-large berth,...however, what it does mean, and this is one of the BCS' problem children, although no different than the "old system," you'll have a # 9 ranked Michigan team as the Conference champ going to a Rose Bowl when some other "deserving" one-loss team gets to go to the RCA-Vizio-Frito-Toothpaste Bowl.

The Illini executed their game plan very well today and OSU's OLine didn't do the job it has all year. Congrats to U of I and a good game by them.

Now, it's time to learn from our mistakes and go up to Ann Arbor and bury them.

Haven't done all of my " homer-work " yet, but my imagination tells me the Buckeyes can still get in the title game. Louisville could have really helped out last Thursday,....

So, the Bucks now need a lot of help,...

(1) Oklahoma State needs to knock out Kansas tonite,....

(2) LSU needs to lose a game, as does Oregon,....

(3) West Virginia needs to lose a game,....

(4) Texas Tech MUST beat Oklahoma next week,.....

Assuming Ohio State does not fall below one-loss Boston College or Missouri, they're still in the hunt. Three of four of the above scenarios need to happen ( the one that doesn't would be the NT Game opponent,..)

Doesn't excuse OVERLOOKING Illinois,...obviously the players did. I have been looking at this one all year as the "awshit" game.

When you help yourself, you don't need help.

Shame on the Buckeyes for folding.

there's just not enough time left in the season for the buckeyes to get in...

i'm content with beating michigan and going to the rose bowl

had this loss happened in one of the first 2 or 3 big ten games on the schedule, the buckeyes are probably right in the middle of the hunt, equal with the oregons and oklahomas and lsu's, but they aren't...

i think we're going to have a bcs championship with both 1-loss teams (kansas will eventually fall), which may help the world's argument that they need a playoff... you're going to have all kinds of teams complaining about not getting a chance to play for a title

Same here. I might be in the minority, but it's more important to me to beat Michigan than win any bowl game, even the NC. Just the way I was brought up, I guess.

Now that Ive had the chance to calm down your right. I mean sure when its all said and done some other team will be considered #1. I will admit at the begining of the year I thought we would have lost to Wisconsin and Penn State but OSU proved me wrong. Playing in the rose bowl is not to bad of a punishment.

Oh yeah it wouldnt be to bad to beat that team up north either.
