This is why you gotta love Yogi,...It ain't over till it's over.
But the glass half empty says, Oregon and LSU right now.
Tomorrow, maybe it'll be different.
It's fun that it's a total barnburner though; that makes it interesting for ALL fans.

Props to Illinois, but now we have to focus on winning the Big 10 championship, but most importantly to go into Michigan and destroy them.
Even though there is the remote possibility we could get into the National Championship game, I'm not counting on it. Fact is I thought that we wouldn't even be in contention when the season started. Next season with almost all of the starters returning (with the exception of Barton, Grant(seniors), Laurinitis, Jenkins (draft)) is the one in which I thought we'd be going for the title. Boeckman has played well most of the year, but the defense got in his face and just rattled his cage. He made some bad decisions, bad throws, and just tried to do too much. The picks in the endzone (should have thrown it away) and the last INT (doublecovered downfield) really killed us.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

That's all well and good, but Tressel calls most of the plays and is the real QB coach on the team. He is as much to blame for Boeckman being underprepared and shocking himself into poor decision making.
Easy to overate the poor QB play today,...the WHOLE team looked like they saw nothing but the pressure of NEXT week's game. You just don't overlook a Ron Zook-coached, higher class team in the Big Ten like Illinois. It's like looking past Vanderbilt in the SEC. DON'T LET it Happen.

Just goes to show again that anybody can beat anybody on any given day...
The Buckeyes have been and are over rated for the two to three years. Their schedule again this year is very week... You all knew they were over rated and were going to lose at some point... They may lose again soon...
Also shows that the soft 10 is not so big anymore... And hasn't been for at least a few years now...
Bowl game blow outs the past few years... Not good... Parity is good for college football...
Good luck the rest of the way... you'll all need it...

3.) Everyone better be prepared for the media lashing that is about to follow. I said the conference was down this season but my god.......I'm not looking forward to hearing that moron Mark May.
Besides just the disappointment of looking pathetic against an unranked team at home... I REALLY am going to hate to hear the media bash the Big Ten some more because both UM and OSU lost... I know they are down this year but I'm tired of hearing how great the SEC is and how pathetic everyone else is...
oh well... I never thought we'd be ranked #1 this year... and in all honesty I would have been very happy with a one loss year Let's hope I can still get it.

Got to give Ill credit....they had a good plan and the team carried it out.
Yes they did.......they knew the weaknesses of the Bucks and they exploited them.
Disappointed? Yep.
Surprised? Nope.

Illinios played a near perfect game. We put forth our worst effort during a regular season game in over 2 seasons. Nota good recipe when you are trying to go undefeated. Folks say overrated.....but in reality that is just jealousy talking. We were picked 3rd in the big 10 this season, holding number 1 for as long as we did and going into November undefeated was an achievement in itself. It sucks to lose and I am pretty damn dissappointed but keeping things in perspective if you told most fans before the season we would go into Michigan with a chance to win the conference and go to the Rose bowl they would be happy.
At some point Michigan must stop being the panacea for this program. National titles are what is about.

I told my wife a month ago that Illinois was the game I was most worried about. Too bad I was correct.
But assasin is right. If you'd told me we'd be going into Michigan week with just 1 loss and that Michigan would have 3 I'd have taken that in a heartbeat.

Don't give up people.
I could also say I too would be satisfied with a Rose Bowl. But I would be a liar.
The Buckeyes are right where Florida was last year; they need some help, destiny is out of there hands. And there is a bunch of football left to be played, even after the Michigan game.
Anything can happen.

Losing to an unranked team at home this late in the season? hell no... there is no chance of the national title game unless a lot of people lose... it just ain't going to happen.
But again, at the begining of the year if you would have told me we'd be playing UM for a chance for the Rose Bowl I'd be pretty happy. This was suppose to be a rebuilding year...

Polls' ll be out around noon, one o'clock,....I suspect the Bucks will be 6/7. Fortunately EVERY team that is/will be ranked ahead of them falls into one of two categories :
(1) Has a tough game that would give them a loss,...perhaps their second.
or
(2) Will be the lone survivor with one or less losses,....Kansas comes to mind. This would mean Oklahoma is out (2 losses after the Big 12 Title game.) The SEC Title game winner could easily be a 2 loss Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, or whoever would have the balls to beat LSU,....the Sooners could also lose along the way to the Title game and eliminate Kansas,....Oregon would then be a survivor. And West Virginia needs to lose, maybe to Connecticut. If any of those 3 happen simultaneously, the Buckeyes are still in it.
Etc, etc, etc. This is what makes college football great -- every weekend is a playoff game.
Even if the polls drop Ohio State to say # 10, there is still room to move up.

depends on where we fall... if we fall in behind Kansas at 5 then I think we still have a chance.... but would need both LSU/Oregon to lose because OU and Kanas will win out until they meet each other more than likely.... fall in behind WVU and I will become a HUGE cincy fan Fall in behind Mizz and we're toast in terms of the National Title game. Like I said... beat UM, Win Big Ten Title, Go to BCS game and I'm happy

All i know is that if someone told me before the season the bucks will go 11-1(yes i'm being cocky and saying we will beat that team up north next week) i would have said sweet deal....and been happy...this #1 thing jus sort of got my hopes up it's okay....lets jus hope our D can play better next week when hart will be back and he is pissed at the bucks for sure so he will play like a mad man...

I agree, the best way to look at it is, hey, they were 11-1. Now the stickler for me is, if you had told me the one loss would be to another Big Ten lesser team who would get nothing from a such victory as yesterday's, I wouldn't be very happy -- would have rather lost to Michigan and see them in the National Title game rather than lose like they did this one, and nobody gets dog doo.

Mizzo beats Kansas Kansas beats Okla Tenn/Ga beats LSU UConn/Cincy beats WVU
title is Oregon v OSU?...
that's a lot of help, and not likely...and i don't care...i'm a bit disappointed, but i thought the Bucks overachieved all year...i can be very pleased with a 11-1 Big 10 title and RoseBowl...
Browns fans are born with it...

With the way the media is going, i'd be surprised if we were still in the top ten. Hopefully we go to the Rose Bowl...we've been in Arizona every freaking year for the past like 4 years...not that it's a bad thing It'd be nice for us to get back to where we belong and play USC...get an early start on next year.
you had a good run Hank.

That would leave Kansas with one loss and a Big12 Title game BIG WIN. I doubt Ohio State -- especially an idle one -- stays ahead of that, not to mention Missouri would only have one loss too. I think it would be better, assuming that Oregon could lose -- a very very tough, near impossibility -- for Kansas to run the table.

For what it's worth, I thought we'd lose two or three this year (hopefully it remains one!!). I am very impressed with the job the kids have done (and the coaches).
Congrats to Illinois. Fine job by Zook. UF may have a good one, but it's look like they may have let one slip away. Yet another coach that sowed his oats in Ohio.
It's Michigan Week.
GO BUCKS
