Yes, she increased the police budget by 200 million dollars while actually risking angering the defund the police crowd. She must really hate them.

She. had. no. choice. She slashed the police budget by 80 million the year before and basically called out other mayors across the US to do the same.

Chicago has not elected a Republican mayor since 1927. Trying to claim that a Democratic mayor "had no choice" is absurd. Not to mention you're trying to take something claimed to be true in a statement as gospel.

If you need a calculator to the math on that increased police funding you have bigger problems than I imagined.

Typical response from someone trying to call an accusation facts. Yet in 2016 a man accused of over 20 sexual improprieties from women was elected president and nobody heard a peep from him then. Basically Joy Reid is wrong about this one.

I think a lot of it has to do with Ukraine not folding and making a fight of it. Basically them telling the Russians that they may occupy, but will not win.

It is a David versus Goliath, with nuclear weapons in the background.

Yeah, somebody pointed out that the world didn't react to the Middle East wars like this when brown children were being killed. So some of the more ardent anti-racism advocates jumped on that. I would usually take a harder look at what they are saying because I do support the struggle against racism… BUT the color of the child never mattered to me. I didn't like it then or now. So for me personally, it is ruthless timing to throw this in American faces, while we are being bombarded by fresh images of what's going on in Ukraine every few minutes. Also, it's in poor taste to pretend these white children are in any way privileged right now. So, I will acknowledge the point being made, but I'm not going down that rabbit hole.

I don’t know where to really post this because it doesn’t deserve its own thread, but one thing that perplexed me is that Biden is encouraging people to return back to work, and will apparently put policies in place for people like DC federal workers to encourage that, instead of working from home.

At the same time, however, we are very concerned about fuel costs. I would think we would still want to encourage minimizing commuting for the time being, given both the current situation, and the fact that we have now adjusted to being able to operate in a remote environment.
