We should probably explore this topic a little more. As far as veteran options (that can potentially start) that are free agents these are the guys that are available:
Jameis Winston Marcus Mariota
Trade candidates:
Gardner Minshew Jared Goff Matt Ryan (if the Falcons get DeShaun Watson) Jimmy Garoppolo
What a depressing thread.

I think Winston, Goff, Ryan, and Jimmy G are all slight up grades. If I had to choose 1 I would take Matt Ryan.

Careful what you wish for. Right?
If Watson isn’t here, and Bake is saying bye to a FO that doesn’t want him.... then what?
Hey Case, wanna start?

Look at the bright side, maybe in 40 years when we get another Franchise QB #1 over all prospect, we won't ruin him. Or at least we might learn by then to not turn on him when he's down, like a pack of curs.

The funny thing about all this - lessons never learned. Browns fans and Browns management for that fact have done the same thing for over two decades. Don't kid yourself for a moment, if Watson comes to the Browns, the honeymoon will only last until they lose that first game - then the knives will be flying and cutting. To compound the issue, if Baker does well at his new destination, the cuts will be deeper and more frequent. You need look no further than what is happening now. For over two decades the Browns waited for a QB to lead this team just to the playoffs. After years of frustration, they finally landed that QB who took a team that had one win in two years to the playoffs in his 3rd season. Less than 10 months later - the city, fans, and FO turned on that QB because his play regressed due to an injury that probably should have sidelined him for the season. Fast forward to just 14 months after giving the city something it hadn't experience in more than two decades and the QB of choice with baggage and questions about his availability to even perform has the entire organization spinning with questions and doubt while the player that committed himself to an unappreciative team and fanbase is being tossed to the side like an old shoe and turned on in a predictive Cleveland manner. This is rinse and repeat for Browns management and Fans.

Honestly, I don't want to even think about it.
I am in a lousy mood about this whole thing.
It is ruining a season before it begins.

What a depressing thread. Can you put your hand on your heart and say that all of the QB in your post haven't been listed above Baker on your list at some point? Or was the list always a joke? Seems like a classic case of careful what you wish for.

I would think (or should I say hope!) that the Browns have plan for what happens if they DON'T get Watson. Does Mayfield know something we don't know or is he positioning himself to ask for a trade if the Watson trade falls through?
My guess is that Ryan becomes the leader in the clubhouse if the Falcons get Watson. If not, it could be a "case" of rolling with Keenum and drafting a rookie, God help us all! I just can't see how the Browns continue with Baker after so publicly trying to move on from him - even if the move on QB is a big upgrade.
There may be people who have more talent than you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do. -Derek Jeter

Goff, Minshew, Mariota, Jimmy G … ahh, yes, we are back to that comfy feeling in Cleveland.
Baker was awful last year, but if we can’t get Watson he’s better than those options IMO
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

What a depressing thread. We might need to also discuss which QB we draft, though I still think next year is the year to do that. If we are willing to give up 3 firsts and some players, we would be willing to give up 2 first rounders to move up X slots in the draft.

I think Winston, Goff, Ryan, and Jimmy G are all slight up grades. If I had to choose 1 I would take Matt Ryan. With the exception of maybe Matt Ryan, not one of the names on that list is an upgrade. None. We deserve what we get. We are literally in a Watson or Bust situation, and because of how this is going down, we're headed toward Bust even before kick-off. Next season is toast already because Watson will be suspended for a minimum of 6 games, likely more... and then, ain't nobody gonna be cheering for him in this town. He's getting booed off that field before his first snap. So, what... all of this for a *maybe* run in 2023?
Browns is the Browns

What a depressing thread. Baker is a better option than any of those and they may have already destroyed their relationship with him....

I don't know how to value Matt Ryan at all. He's old and in an obvious decline. I think the most I'd give up is our comp pick in round three.

In the reality that we’ve self destructed on the QB position, I’d like to see AB grab Winston.
He got his eye sight fixed and we have plenty of crab legs here, so he might thrive

Sign me up for one or two years of Matty Ice in the event Watson ends up in Atlanta.

Honestly, maybe give me Mariota. Let's try the Dilfer route. Forget a big money QB.

Houston doesn't want a decent Qb. They want to suck this year and have their choice of CJ Stroud or Bryce Young in the 2023 draft.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

I’m rooting for Watson to go to Atlanta if he doesn’t come here. Ryan > Jimmy G in my opinion

If we move on from Baker here are our options:
1. Jimmy G 2. Marcus Mariotta 3. Gardner Minshew 4. Jordan Love
Carr will not be traded IMO.

Those are absolutely terrible options. We'd be better served trading up in the 1st to get one of the craptastic QBs in this year's draft.... or, rolling with Case and chasing the 1st overall next year.

Baker is the option and that is all there is to this.
This whole Watson/Baker smack has been overblown.
Watson will play elsewhere and Baker will play for the Browns.
