T Minus 2 hours and thirteen minutes! Glad it's finally here.
Even without a pick I wonder how much air time our trade for DW will garner.

I may follow the first couple picks or so, but that'll be it.
And yeah, I never even gave it thought about DW possibly being discussed ad nauseum.

I wonder what the shocker will be?
Seems like every year something goes down that is unexpected.
A trade? A strange pick?
Guys who fall. Someone taken way early.
What qb's are taken and when?

I'll watch the whole thing although it will be on my phone for some of it... You never know what trade could happen or how players/teams that are in our division might be impacted.
I'd expect Russell Wilson and DW to get air time because in effect they are the first round selections for the teams that acquired them. It should be 100% football talk though.
And yes - who falls or who gets taken a round earlier than predicted is always interesting.

I think the TV producers, and those who don't follow football with passion but only as an afterthought, are the ones who always want to overhype where the quarterbacks go. If the Browns don't chose all of their selections, (like recent years) i.e. the 78th pick this year, I hope they aren't going around chasing pots of gold at the ends of rainbows that aren't there, and the end result will be worse.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

There is some buzz about the Steelers making a big trade up for Willis. If they do I would guess they jump up to the Giants or Panthers spot.

What qb's are taken and when? It never fails to amaze me ... how when one seemingly out of place selection can change the course of the Draft.

So true.
Kinda funny to me to see what some of costumes these guys wear.

We need more of "just reading names" JUST READING NAMES, that is it, just the facts.
A lot less of all of the side stories and feel good human interest nonsense. And I mean that sincerely.
Nothing is more important in the next few days, than the focus on the reading of the names, the reading out and announcing of the names is Paramount! (human interest stuff hurts to watch!)

3 pretty good oline left and they pick agin at 7. Makes sense to take the DE as they will have at least 2 OT to choose from

That makes sense - but I think Ekwonu and Johnosn/Karalfatis is a better combo than who they picked and Neal/Cross. Kayvon looks small to me.

FWIW because I have no idea who this guy is but: "According to a prediction by NFL Network’s Marc Sessler, the Seahawks are a “lock” to acquire Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick." https://heavy.com/sports/seattle-se...pH9ttOmxl3ZIWBhiz7fci8yHdG_xkRcbmiTLjNBU

The #11 pick is Chris Olave Wr to the Saints traded up from the WFT Washington can't name their team. That is 3 WRs in the top 11.
Looks like the Lions traded up to pick #12

Mathmatically, WR's are more important than QBs. 32 teams, all teams need 3 special ones on every single offensive snap. And Burks, the #6 Wr goes at pick #18.
Qbs? Well after the NFL changed the rules to let Qbs not get touched, (unless they play for the browns of course) Then just about anybody can play Qb, and mathematically there are only 31 starting jobs.
But Wr, there are 96 starting spots for a top 3 WR on every snap?
This = meltdown city.

What a year to waive Rashard Higgins. For anyone who was interested GM told the board why Higgins was let go. Had to do with not being able to beat anything but zone coverage and the NFL realizing.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

No Tight ends were selected in the first 23 picks, but 6 Wrs were selected in the first 18 picks.

The Browns refused to draft Julio Jones who became a game changer for the Falcons at wide receiver, but, on that draft day, he just didn't seem to have the value/hype. And the Browns got a boatload of also ran picks instead.

Sean got whupped by Bill in the Super Bowl. He learned from greats like Shannahan and he is pretty innovative, but he isn't all that as a HC. He's good, but not great, in my opinion. He isn't nearly as innovate as Kyle Shannahan and others. He has kept some of the Shannahan/Kubiak schematics and that helps his running game, but his dependence on 11 personnel makes it imperative that he has superior personnel.

Man, the Jets killed it tonight. They got a better receiver in Wilson than London who went at 8. They got a corner and Johnson. That is freaking incredible.
The Giants actually did well w/out the idiot Gettleman.
LMAO at Philly. They got punked so bad. I loved their pre-draft trade w/NO. However, the Jets do the right thing and take Wilson. Then NO moves up and takes Olave. Philly gets nervous because I believe he was their target. They trade up, but Detroit beats them toe punch and takes Williams. Philly ends up taking Jordan Davis who I think has big-time bust potential. They then trade for AJ Brown. They are going to have to pay him top dollar. What a disaster.
Thank God Karafatas or whatever his name is went in the first. I think he is extremely overrated as an NFL prospect. Great college player and a guy who is easy to root for, but he will probably get man-handled in the NFL.

I am very surprised by the Steelers taking Pickett.
Thought they would take Willis.
I could dead wrong but I don't see Pickett as a first round talent. He for sure could prove me wrong.
He had one good year. He had 38 career fumbles at Pitt. He looks no better than ok. Actually I think Trubisky is better.
They could have taken Willis and sat him for a year or two and had way more of a chance of having a dynamic qb.
The Ravens got a damn good player in Hamilton.
The Jets IMO got a lot of talent in the first round.
All in all the draft went well for us. We have plenty of options. Ebiketie, Moore, Mafe, Pickens, Ojabo, Watkins, Raimann, Dean, Logan Hall, Winfrey.
I would love to get Moore and come back and land Winfrey.

A few things:
- Ravens got two good players, thought not at huge areas of need - Steelers took a bit of a risk. Not sure Pickett has the huge upside - Arizona paid a huge price for a busting WR in my opinion - GB, NE with head scratchers
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I know that Louis Riddick, former NFL GM and current commentator for ESPN, interviewed w/the Steelers about their soon to be vacant GM job and I know he loves Pickett. Wonder if there is a correlation there?

It is not that Pickett looks bad.
I just don't see any single thing he does exceptionally well. He was the first quarterback taken?
Take his last season off the Board and he was not good. He played four years. He will be 24 in June. 38 fumbles in four years?
Every way you would measure a quarterback there is not one trait that stands out with him.
Willis has a lot to learn. But he has some exceptional abilities. Big arm. Throws a great deep ball. Amazing runner. A real threat as a runner.
He can be accurate. Has a nice touch on the ball. Throws well off platform. Comes across as a very likeable player.
I don't know. We shall see. Actually I am very happy about it.

I’ve seen Pickett quite a few times and have tons of Pitt fans.
A few things about him:
- He’s got great leadership and passion to win. Probably his best trait. - He’s not physically gifted like other QBs. Not a huge arm. Not a huge frame. - He’s probably the most “ready” QB (I hate to use Weeden, but that’s who comes to mind) - His ceiling isn’t as high as other prospects, but his floor isn’t as low either
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I wonder what the shocker will be? Seems like every year something goes down that is unexpected. A trade? A strange pick? Guys who fall. Someone taken way early. What qb's are taken and when? As usual the Pats take somebody out of left field...I don't know why they do it. Ravens got their kind of guy a stud safety and at a steal...smh
Arggghhh us picking at 13 Jordan Davis the biggest (literally) difference maker in this draft. He would of brought our DL into something amazing and a championship level DL with CLowney in FA.
Well Panthers and Seattle did not take QBs now will they consider Baker to be better than any 2nd round QB out there. Just curious outside of Drew Brees (who by the numbers prior to expansion was actually at the end of the first not beginning of 2nd) but what 2nd round QB out there ever made it??? So hopefully we will be walking away with an extra 2nd round pick from this draft
Why is Nakobe Dean still available how was Quay taken before him???
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Kyle Hamilton is a typical Raven pick. BPA.
He is really good. Like maybe the best in the draft.
Honestly, I believe Trubisky is better than Pickett.
Berry is in great shape. Tons of options on the board.
He could go in many directions and that is a very good position to be in.

Just for clarification Riddick has never been a GM. It’ll be interesting how the Steelers GM search turns out. They interviewed like 20 guys.

Dean, Davis, Wyatt, Walker and the young DE who wasn't draft eligible this year - forget his name Clearly prediction is more important than production.

I found it hilarious when the camera focused on fans after their teams made their pick(s) and you could see that the fan(s) had no idea who was just chosen.

Bill B. and Jermaine Johnson II falling to #26) but no surprise that only 1 QB was selected. The talent at that position simply wasn't there. I also would have liked Davis at #13, however....

So a grand total of six over the past 49 years?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
