**** National Championships...Big 10 Championships and beating michigan makes me happier anyday of the week.
Seriously the BCS warped college football from what made it great...I say end the BCS and bring banck conference allegiances to Bowl games

Agreed,..the problem with Buckeye haters is that they know even if there is a playoff, the Bucks will be in it,...
So, they're in it again.
Oklahoma is the # 2 team in the country right now; just beat the dog doo out of # 1, play in the Big 12, took the Championship, and had one bad loss to Colorado. LSU is a fluke, can't even handle # 19 Tennessee.
Oklahoma deserves this spot. USC lost to STANFORD. Georgia lost to 6-6 South Carolina.
I am done.

One of two things need to happen IMO
They go to some kind of playoff or make conference championship games mandatory for every BCS conference. Something has to level it out.
I'd also be in favor of not releasing any kind of rankings (AP and coaches included) until the 6th week of the season.
i really really really agree with your last point... i mean, how do these voters really know who's good, and who's a fraud, and how that affects teams late in the year??
i think after 2 weeks of conference play, then the voters can do their voting... that way you kinda have a feeling about who's legit, and who's a fraud...
the one thing i'm tired of hearing about, is these people that come up with these ridiculous answers to the bcs... "oh let's have a 16 team playoff, i mean it's that easy!!#!@!"
you're going to have a hard time getting fans to travel each week to neutral locations, and if you decide to not go with neutral and give one team a home field, then you have arguments just like you do now, about how team A deserves to have the home game over team B... because in pro sports, that's decided by head-to-head, common opponents, etc...
i would like to see a playoff with all the major conference champs, with 2 at-large "wild card" teams ie. hawaii, or a team like georgia who looks great, but didn't win the sec...
but again, that's 8 teams, which means 3 weeks of playoffs... and again how do you decide where these games are played, and you've also got to consider that some teams have conference championships and some teams don't, and you've also got notre dame, should they ever get their program together, not playing in a conference, and that would off teams in the smaller conferences like the wac, and how it would be unfair that notre dame would almost be guaranteed a berth every year because of their notoriety...
it just keeps going in a circle...

i understand your point, and i'd never argue against trashing the BCS, BUT...
Sagarin's SOS for Hawaii is 142...that means, using his system, there are 23 I-AA teams that have played more difficult schedules...Northern Iowa is undefeated, too...their SOS is 150...perhaps they should play Hawaii in the champ. game?...
Browns fans are born with it...

oklahoma lost to texas tech a few weeks ago, an unranked, mediocre texas tech team that passes on literally every play...

So the national championship is in Nawlins this year? If LSU gets in that'll be like a home game for them. I'd love nothing more than to beat an SEC team though. The fact that I live in SEC country would make it even sweeter. Now if OSU loses...

Possibly, you can say it because LSU won the championship of the conference Georgia plays in. But the prior week's rankings should have some weight, I think. That means it should be Georgia, if you want to claim that there is any fairness and consistency to your method.

The problem with their SOS is it's completely skewed by Michigan State backing out of their non conference game with them. As a result, they had to add someone at the last minute. The only team they could find was another 1-AA school. It would still be low.....but obviously not THAT low.
Do I think Hawaii is THAT good? Maybe not but my point was that everyone else has blown it. There are other teams that played incredibly easy schedules but they didn't win every game. Based on the fact that the BCS will now put a 2 loss team in to the national title game, I believe Hawaii should be considered IF they go undefeated.

In my mind that's the same dump Ohio State took against Illinois.
Look who the Number One team in the Nation is now,.....didn't say they were the BEST, just that they're Number One,....
LSU is a joke. I would rather Georgia get the nod if it's not Oklahoma or USC.

it is, but don't think that ohio state will be playing in front of 70,000 lsu fans...
ohio state fans travel as well as anyone, and will get their share of tickets, and then some...
and maybe it's a good thing that they'll be in louisiana, the whole us against the world thing...
remember, in 2002, nobody gave ohio state a chance against miami, and you've gotta believe, no matter how even this game should be, that nobody is going to pick ohio state to win this game, and i'm sure some of the sec homers are going to spew out the same garbage that people said about ohio state in 2002, how they can't keep up with the speed of the south...

Then why not just put WVU in? The only games they lost were when White got hurt.
See how stupid the BCS becomes? We're trying to argue which team or single loss sucked the least.

illinois is head and shoulders a better team than texas tech...
also, that was the only blemish on ohio state's season... oklahoma had no business losing either of their games... while even before osu went up against illinois, there were fans, as well as experts saying that ohio state could be upset in that game...
not to mention that illinios has a great chance to be playing in the rose bowl, so ohio state's only loss will be to a bcs team... not bad...

I am hoping for Georgia. LSU struggled in more than one of their wins. Now I'm just waiting for my father-in-law to tell me if we're going down to the Bayou in January!

I wouldn't start beating your head right now, wait at least till the game is over. Don't start now, because your setting yourself up for a heartbeat even though it shouldn't be a surprise. I would take LSU easily over OSU, but if it's Oklahoma, the game will be closer, but I still don't see OSU winning. I doubt they will be embarassed like they did last year but I don't see them getting it done. The big 10 was so down this year OSU lucked out and won the conference, but thats not to hard to do when 10 out of the 11 teams in the conference were cake teams even Illinois, but OSU still choked in that one. This years OSU team can't hang with the big boys even though they are in the mix. Can't wait to see the spread when it comes out, I hope OSU is favored, that means I will make a few bucks on this game.

We're NOT going to play LSU,...
Think like a poll voter,...
You have NO choice but to give your # 1 vote now to Ohio State,....
This is where the waffling starts,...do I give my # 2 to LSU, USC, Georgia, Virginia Tech, or even Kansas before I give it to Oklahoma --who just won a Major conference by thoroughly pounding the # 1 team in the Nation ??
Get ready people,..this thing is gonna go down to the ten-thousandth of a point for who Number 2 is.
And without a playoff,...just like it should be.

throw virginia tech out, no voter is going to stick them above lsu, especially when lsu destroyed them at the beginning of the year...
if it's not lsu, it's usc... and usc lost to stanford in their own barn, lsu lost 2 games in overtime...

It will be a travesty when/if LSU gets in. Every other team that loses late drops behind most of the teams with the same win-loss record. Lsu loses to Arkansas and only drops to 5 in one poll. Any teaam who loses in the very last week of the regular season should never have a chance at the title the way things have been done in the past. The only exception should be if with the loss they still had a better record than everyone else, and their loss was against a quality opponent.
In the situation we are in now all the experts are saying Georgia and Kansas should and will be jumped, that they will throw out all the prior rankings to this week. If that's the case, then I think USC and Oklahoma would have better arguements. USC was severely depleted when they lost their games early. Why should anyone hold it against them since they are supposably the hottest team right now and we don't really care about last weeks rankings. Lsu didn't fall behind Oklahoma even though their loss was later in the season, plus Oklahoma just kicked the crap out of the #1 team in the country.
Now I know that the arguement that the SEC is the strongest conference in football should give weight to LSU. If someone wants to use that arguement, can you please tell me how impressive is a win when you beat a team in the championship game who had 3 losses coming into the game for a combined 77 points?

What's your beef with the Sooners,...dude they're as "good" by anyone else's defintion, as anyone else in the country,....that's where my vote would go. Yes LSU should be commended for having two OT losses -- why in the hell, if THEY'RE so damn good, were they in THAT position in the first place ?? I don't buy it. They won 3 other games that Les "The Brain" Miles could have easily coached himself out of. I can't believe we have to even talk about this with Pitt taking out West By God,...UNREAL !!! That is, if things go the way THEY SHOULD, i.e. Pitt loses, and Illinois loses to Ohio State,...these aren't even real questions,...BUT,...someone doesn't do their job, so I have to do it for them,.... Oklahoma deserves this spot. Ohio State might not, but the Sooners do.

good points...
i think a lot of it is the voters being biased towards the sec...
maybe it's because they screwed auburn a few years ago...
usc has an argument, no doubt, but that stanford loss does not sit well, you should be able to beat stanford with your grandmother at quarterback...

Maybe you should... Lsu and the SEC are darlings of the voters, second only to USC. There is no way they can think of to propel USC over everyone else, but they can LSU.
In my mind if we throw out rankings Oklahoma is the team that deserves it and should actually be favored.
I personally believe Georgia should be there. The way things have always been done they are the most deserving. If they don't deserve it, why are they ranked higher than the two teams in their conference championship? Tennesse beat them afterall, maybe Georgia should be ranked 15th or so.

i have no beef with the sooners, they are a good solid football team, but i just think that lsu and usc are better teams...
i do think that lsu was overrated this year, as was the entire sec...
coming out of the first few weeks, lsu looked like it had the best defense in the history of college football, and they turned out to not be so...
people said the same about usc... a few experts were calling them the greatest college team ever...
the truth is, people are going to rip ohio state for not being a great team, and getting into the championship game, but in my opinion, there is no great team this year, a lot of people are saying usc is playing the best football of anyone right now, i disagree... arizona state turned out to be a fraud, they didn't beat anyone this year, and a win over ucla does nothing for me... usc hasn't really beaten anyone
the one truly great team this year got screwed because they lost their quarterback, and that's oregon...
man, that seems like so long ago that oregon was poised to take the whole damn thing.

We've done to much around the house and used our credit cards too much. But it's oooohhh so tempting that I'll probably give in and go if they get tix.

I'm a huge college football fan. After watching these games tonight, crunching numbers, running the results through my supercomputer, here are my predictions for the BCS finalists:
1) Globo Gym Purple Cobras- This is my team: Blaze. Lazer. Blazer. 2) Mt. Union Purple Raiders- Bonus points for a second purple team. Most dominant college team in the country, easiest pick, by far. 3) Troup 406 of the Greater Saskatoon, Saskatchewan- A Canadian team! Unfortunately, under current NCAA rules and stricter immigration standards, game will be played in the mid-Atlantic Ocean (Turf provided by Heinz Field!). 4) Les Miles' School of Choice- Oklahoma State, LSU, and Michigan are front-runners for at-large bid. 5) New York Yankees- Steinbrenners see way of buying into a title race and pounce quickly. 10 year contract for $419 million. 6) Boston Red Sox- See Yankees make move, must mimic. 10 year contract for $419.5 million. 7) Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichokes- Serious college, funny name. Spot could still be claimed by Big Ten school who has been idle for past three months. 8) Notre Dame Fighting Irish- This is the BCS we're talking about, after all.

I think a case can be made for and against both LSU or Oklahoma being in the Championship game so it'll be interesting how this all shakes out. Maybe we should have a playoff between those two for the right to play OSU.

NRTU.
Personally I think Kansas should be in it as well as OSU... they have one loss to a very good Mizzou team that was ranked 4th in the nation... plus it was on a neutral field... I know they didn't win their conference title, but with one loss I think they deserve it as much as anyone.
Will probably be LSU though.

C'mon 'nas,.....some useless off-the-wall-ESPN poll ?? About as worthless as any other,..even the 4 major polls that -- tomorrow -- will tell us Ohio State is the # 1 team in the country. Worthless.
Who is Number 2 ?????????????????????
IT DON'T MATTER,...they're gonna go with who the best matchup is,..and I for one, don't hold a vote, don't pretend to vote, and don't pretend to know who will be voted # 2 . Just my opinion, Oklahoma deserves that vote as much as anyone else does.

So you're in favor of OSU getting in by way of everyone else screwing the pooch but are against LSU getting back in to the picture under the exact same circumstances?
I don't agree with propelling LSU over Kansas... I can see Virginia Tech because LSU beat Tech early.... same with Georgia...
but my big quesiton is for voters would be why would you rank LSU behind Tech and Georgia last week if you are going to vote them ahead of them this week....
I hate the polls....

It happened to UM last year and will happen to Georgia, Virginia Tech and Kansas this season.
I disagree on Kansas. Their close loss to Missouri was diluted by the Tigers getting their doors blown off by OU.

I love when people use that smilie when they don't know what they're talking about.
I've been on record that I don't want OSU in the championship game. I don't think they're ready and I would hate for them to lose badly. The reason being is because the Big Ten already gets enough grief.
The difference between LSU and the OSU situations are very different in my opinion. OSU lost and dropped behind every one loss tem except ASU, who subsiqentley lost afterwards. LSU loses to a unranked team and only drops behind one two loss team, a team in their own conference who has no chance at the title because of it. Yes OSU gets in by default because they lost only one game, three weeks before the season ended. If they would have beat Illinois and lost to Michigan instead, they should have been behind WVU, Missouri, LSU, and Kansas. Also an arguement can be made that they should have dropped behind Georgia also, even though they only had one loss. Since all of those teams have lost in the past two weeks, they should have moved up ahead of all with the exception of Kansas and Georgia.
The fact is the later the loss the more it hurts. I have never thought that was fair, but that's the way they play the game. They did not follow the typical script they normally do. They also are changing the rules when it comes to having to win your own conference. I agree with that, but why would you keep teams ranked higher than others that don't get to the championship game? The system is broke, but LSU is getting a huge break.
