Thought I'd start a thread for probable later round guys that people find intriguing.
I don't know if he'll work out, but Deuce Vaughn from Kansas State is just so fun to watch. The 5'5" is a tough sell, but his low center of gravity and good balance let him make defenders look silly all the time. Could he be what Felton was supposed to be? Would his "getting lost" by defenders behind the OL be an advantage?
Just came across Derek Parish from Houston. He's a DL/LB/FB, basically just a do-it-all football player. Mainly have watched him at DE. He's a bit undersized on the edge and missed most of last season with a biceps injury, but his game against Texas Tech was pretty epic. 11 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Could be a core special teamer, while providing pass rush depth, and saving a spot on not needing a FB-only guy.
Who have you all got?
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
Sounds like he’ll be a Patriot haha. I always am intrigued by those types too
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Seems like every year during the draft process some guy does something (face mask bong), failed drug test etc.
I am like what is wrong here? You get a scholarship. You go to college to play football with the hope of being drafted. Getting the opportunity to make generational money.
And you go to a pro day out of shape? Fail a drug test? Get arrested? Whatever.
People would die for that kind of chance.
I really do NOt get it.
I was told "you can always control two things; your attitude and your effort."
Players who make these types of decisions. I would not draft them.
Creed Humphrey, he plays center for the Cheifs, he was drafted last year. It takes about 3 seconds to look at the eyeball test to look and go, uh oh, we may have something special here, he could be the best to see in years, a rare occasion,
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
A late round pick in this draft that I really like is Mohammed Ibrahim RB from Minnesota. Smaller back that plays tough. Has good vision and ability to cut really well. Lacks explosive speed to run away from defenders is his biggest drawback. Had 37 collegiate touchdowns playing in the Big Ten. He could be a really good compliment runner to a lead back like Chubb.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Here's an idea I've been thinking about. I'd like to hear what others think about it. What if we were to trade our 2 #3 picks this year to move up to the 2nd round so we'd have 2 #2 picks this year. I feel we should still take the best DL or WR with our first 2nd round pick and then we can take the other position with our second #2 if we make the trade. Or, should we just stay where we are and let the draft come to us? Thoughts?
Think we only have the compensatory pick in the 3rd round. I believe our original 3rd was part of the Watson trade.
I see us as more likely to trade back from our 2nd rounder (to try to get a couple picks before 70) than up. Might try to package the later rounds to get more picks in the 3rd-5th range. All depends on who is still on the board when.
Could also see us flipping late round picks for future picks as we're at a point where late rounders could be unlikely to make the roster. Again it depends on the evaluations and who is still available, as well as how the projections of next year's draft look.
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
I don't want to trade down, but I have a feeling we may do so.
A good chance.
Unless the value the team sees at #42 is far greater than what they think will be there later in the draft, they will opt for the multiple picks.
I think much will depend on how much immediate impact the team is seeking out of that #42 pick. If they are wanting immediate impact, they probably stick. If they aren't needing that and are looking at more of a long term thing, they probably drop.
Oh...if they trade up, which isn't talked about much, they defiantly are throwing everything in to this season. Given the precarious position the staff is in, they may just do that. It seems to me that is a do or die season. Stefanski for sure. The FO possibly.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
I don't want to trade down, but I have a feeling we may do so.
I can't say they will or won't trade down/back b/c they rarely do what I think is the obvious sensible thing at the time. I may attempt to explain Why, they "should" not trade back "this" year and every year is different.
it starts with looking at the Browns team before the draft, are they completely void of NFL caliber players, therefore re@uiring that any and all players, even below average lower round drafted guys, later round picks would help by @uantity? No. I mean, are we looking at a current Browns like the 2020 to 2022 Texans, or the Nineteen Ninety Nine to 2000 Browns expansion team? No. Those teams Needed to trade down for more picks, even in the 2nd, in ninety nine they even had Darrin Chiaverini starting and it was described our Dbs were Cutch, Daylon Mccutcheon, and "don't know who", a safety, and don't know who, and dont' know who, for the five spots.
Well, in 2020 the Browns had about the most talent I've ever seen them have and I think that can be agreed on, and even today, I think one could agree the Browns have a player better than a random late round pick at many many positions, and that would be a decent reason NOT to trade back for more less @uality selections but to stay, or even trade UP for fewer but higher @uality selections.
Greedy Williams, AJ Green, Greg Newsome, even Martin Emerson at Corner, all better today, than what may have been, well for an example of a later round guy sheldrick Redwine, or even dude from the 6th round who got beat out last year but who had been a draft pick.
ok, offense, Even a M. Woods, and David Bell, and even Demetric Felton, whom they are not using right, would be =e@ual to what you might add after getting the extra pick by trading back or down. Not to mention the OL, How, Haeg, and Forbes and Nick Harris, for goodness sakes Dawson ' why is he here' Deaton, and James Hudson, all .. well one of, anyway, =E@ual to what they could expect from an additional late round selection.
how about DL. They don't need to trade back to draft ANOTHER Togiai, or Jordan Elliot. after all they just this week brought in 3 or 4 dudes who'd all be = to or better than they'd get in an additional pick by trading down.
No, it appears very obvious they should be aiming for TOP @uality, the BPA, best player available, but, if, a group a GM front office group is afraid, or un@ualified, or unwilling to make a decision on who is the best, then they may take the easy way out by trading back, EVEN WHEN it is glaringly obvious that it's not the right move in a given year.
Basically trading back would be sending the message that all of those plethora of players not only don't belong "already on your team" but that they'd all never really be expected to do anything in the NFL anyway, any more than a rookie college late round pick.
therefore, it seems the sensible thing is for the Browns to draft a "good" player when they are on the clock, but the Browns defy sensibility regularly. NO? Especially when it is Berry and Depo pulling the levers, so, they'll probably trade back like ...
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
Well the thing is that allegedly the players from 30-70 in this draft all have similar grades. Would you rather have one swing or two? If there's someone who stands out above the others on the board when we're up, take him. If there's a pod of ~twenty players all bunched together, why not try to take two of them?
I could see us potentially trading 42 for 61 and 64 with Chicago. I could see an OL being there that's high on the Bears' board that we don't really need. If the DL I like are gone, moving back to get a WR and different DL, one who's likely to be gone by 98, makes sense to me.
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
I don't want to trade down, but I have a feeling we may do so.
It is a very good possibility ... one which depends on where we are trading down to and what handfull of prospects we like to be there at that point in the draft.
I would love Deuce Vaughn. I love short RB's. And Deuce in the open field makes people just look silly. I would be pleased as punch if they were to grab him AND Mo Ibrahim....As They very well may be available as devalued the RB position is...I don't really have specific targets...especially after the Moore trade. at first I was hoping The DT from that school up north might be a good target...But now...I can mostly sit back and root for the underdogs (the lower picks) Seeing these rounds can sometimes be more interesting than 1 & 2. It's easy to say I want the SUPER STUD...everyone can see he is a good player...but to find those diamonds in the rough.....seeing the traits teams covet. grabbing those guys whose heart can't be measured. That is pretty cool.
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????

It doesn't @uite work that way.
allegedly the players from 30-70 in this draft all have similar grades.
that's impossible, esp. in football due to the differences in position re@uirements being that the fact they have everything from a kicker, a @uarterback, returners, Free safeties, strong safeties, linebackers, Defensive end tweeners, 3/4 DL, 4/3 DL, Nose tackles, Right Tackles, centers, guards, left tackles, tight ends, Wide receivers of 3 types, running backs of at least two types team strengths, division opponent teams' team strengths,.... kick coverage specialists, punters, not to mention their favorite, about 2 types of cornerbacks and then the accepted facts that these players who play these positions are different sizes, height and weight, different speeds, posess different strength levels and different sheer mass power and volume.
means that it's impossible for all the players from 30 to seventy to have similar grades.
Unless someone doesn't do their homework, or doesn't care. i.e. the team.
The sports of hockey, basketball, and soccer, don't have nearly as many differences of on field positions or position groups, on field, on court... can leave baseball out of it which doesn't either and their are no 'nearly' 400 pound baseball players sumo wrestling only provides the contest of only one matchup between a football games offensive and defensive lines on one play where there are at least 8 players involved in different matchups in that regard each snap.
so a team can feed that line, of bull to the fans in other sports, over the years... " all the players have imilar grades so we'll trade back for two bites not one" Bull > ... that only shows the team is either lazy, or unwilling to make a decision, or doesn't have any faith in a large portion of the current makeup of the players already on the team.
and That... is the real thing. If they trade back, they are sending a referendum against the talent level of the player core already on the team, and the team brass are the same ones who assembled them over the last five years and if you go back to what they were allegedly trying to do in sixteen and seventeen, to end up with the #I overall pick back to back years then sending a referendum against the talent core already on the team would be sending a referendum against their own abilities to find a player in the Ist place.
Not to mention Watson and what that took , and OBJ and what that took.
... Would I rather have one swing or two? simply, not taking that first swing would show that they do not know how to take ANY swings AT ALL, anytime, no matter how many you give them. And that they don't trust or keep the swings they take.
edit. I forgot to include that the pool of potential players is thousands deep, and of realistic selections still hundreds deep, anytime you are in the top I04 picks of an annual college draft, with a diminishing return where number one overall has the most options and Mr irrelevant has the same most options minus about 230 to 238 players selected ahead of him/ or her. which even further reinforces that picks 30 to seventy overall cannot be just lumped together in a similar range of talent and abilities.
2nd edit. realize after reading it appears my use of the word bull, to comment the preposterousness of the ideas could be mis construed as me addressing the poster whose screenname is Bull Dawg, I'm not trying to do that, I'm really responding to the team, and the idea from the team mention in the post by Bull Dawg and trying to use Bull in the usage of 'Barbara streisand'/ proposteresness

That's the way I see it as well but that's certainly not the way it's being portrayed by many. We see it all the time. People claiming they don't like a players attitude or things they say in public. Then when it comes down to something serious they turn their heads away and pretend it's okay.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
OT Wanya Morris was a former five-star tackle recruit and has played LT (started at LT while at Tennessee over RT Darnell Wright) before starting at RT opposite LT Anton Harrison in 2022 at Oklahoma ... so I don't think that he should necessarily be peginholed as a RT only prospect ... the film shows a couple of LT 1 vs 1 reps at this years Sr. Bowl.

This kid is C/G. What makes this kid interesting, at least to me, I played QB in high school, and this kid is the son of my C for 3 years in high school.
It's that he gets in position, and imo has techni@ue too. I mean, his body is in the right posture and position in pass blocking, and how important is that. Everyone knows it's ultra important,
