Curious to see how Detroit looks on the big stage
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

We all should be rooting for Detroit.
I think they lose BIG, but I hope they pull the upset.

KC up 14-7 at half. Detroit has made some poor mistakes after starting strong

And why there’s a limit with Goff.
Wide open to the left for him to easily get 3 yards and just slide, yet just stood there climbing in the pocket intending to throw to lord knows who.

Man those drops by chiefs WRs are gonna be rolling all day tomorrow for all the wrong reasons.
Detroit really got the win

Hat tip to Detroit and the kneecap biters.
I get Kelce and Jones were out, however, that's a signature win for that franchise.

Good for Detroit! I give them a lot of credit. I'd like to see a Lion- Browns Super Bowl too. Many fans don't know how good these teams were in the 50's and the great games they played against each other. It would bring back many old stories and memories.

Love seeing the Lions win and the Chiefs lose. There’s a handful of underdogs I’m always kinda sorta rooting for if they’re not playing the Browns. Have a handful of Detroit friends (almost all of whom no longer live in Detroit) and as much as they probably no longer watch the Lions I’m glad that they might have a little glimmer today. Winning against the Chiefs in Arrowhead in the first game of the season is not nothing. That’s a pretty big thing. Hopefully not a fluke for them.

one big difference between Detroit and us is the fact that they seem to play with an edge. They are tough and physical. We have to get that way or else we'll never turn the corner like they're trying to do

I watched the Chiefs/Lions game until halftime, recorded the rest, went to sleep. I just watched the rest of the game. I'm surprised at the outcome. Mahomes is my fav QB but I still wanted to see the Chiefs lose. Kelce not playing made a big difference.

Honestly, I thought that was an ugly game that both teams deserved to lose. Could tell it was week one.
I actually felt bad for Mahomes and couldn't help but think it was probably a good thing he hadn't landed in Cleveland because those were the kinds of WRs he'd have had for most of his career.
It was a good win for Detroit, but I still see Goff as holding them back. Marvin Jones looked pretty washed. Without Williams, their WRs look rather pedestrian at best outside of St. Brown.
I was also surprised how well the Chiefs DL held up without Jones until late.
The Lions rookies did look pretty good. Gibbs, Campbell, LaPorta, and Branch all had flashes. I'm curious to see how the RB usage numbers change over the course of the season.
The NFC North looks like it will be interesting. While the Lions got the W, I'm still not quite sure what to make of them. It felt like the Chiefs lost as much as, perhaps more than, the Lions won.

I think the lack of true preseason reps really affects teams in weeks one and two ... you can tell that they have very little game speed reps and games turn ugly

Goff sure looked pretty crisp for skipping all reps in the preseason though. Another testament to all of the ills some good QBing will overcome.

He hadn't been on the field in 242 days. I expected him to be rusty.

I also think this could be Bill's last year in NE. They don't look so good. Maybe they'll be in the Caleb Williams hunt.

I honestly hate injuries. That said, they happen. To all teams. While Dobbins was a Buck I loved him. The moment his name was called for the Ravens on draft day, I lost all fandom of him. If he played for any other team I’d feel bad for the injuries he’s sustained and the career he’s missed out on. Since he’s a Raven… meh.

I thought Kenny Pickett was being talked about as being a top QB this year. $^ pass attemtps for 200+ yards is not very good. I didn't see the game, but it sounds like their run game is non existent.

teams that impressed me: Packers, Cowboys, 49ers, Rams teams that disappointed me: Giants, Vikings, Seahawks, Bears
coincidentally all from the NFC
I thought the Dolphins/Chargers game went exactly like I thought ... very similar teams
Jags/Colts was as expected, same with the Saints/Titans and Falcons/Panthers

Out of the teams that impressed you, only one played an opponent that probably won't finish last in their division, and I think the Seahawks were a bit overhyped this preseason.

good point. Give it 3-4 weeks and things shake themselves out.
One thing I've really noticed yesterday: teams with solid front 7's are dominating early on.

Eagles offense was kinda clunky. Take away the pick 6 and that's maybe a different outcome

the Jets went from contender to basement dweller in 4 plays. The AFC playoff picture has gone from like 10 teams to 9

Garrett Wilson is absurd. That was one of the most amazing catches I've ever seen. (Along with OBJ, Justin Jefferson, and Nick Chubb's catch on the back of the defender.) On another note, I never thought the Jets trading for Rogers was a good idea. He's great, but at his age, the body just doesn't cooperate.

Wow, Jets get away with DPI, then return the punt for the OT win.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Nothing like a walk-off punt return in OT.
That was fun.

Yep, looks like a Achilles tendon tear. I'm not the biggest Rodgers fan, but I hate it for him.

what a game. The Jets have such a good roster and defense
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Josh Allen has gone from superstar to average in a very short period of time.
The QB position is so frustrating. Even Baker looked like a franchise QB at various times. But to be consistently great and sustain it over a long period of time seems to be very fleeting unless you're named Mahomes.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Possibly the expectations of being perfect, or even great every week aren't realistic?

Allen is all about the turnovers. He makes poor decisions and puts them at risk. He's a strange QB

Breece Hall reminds me a little of Nick Chubb. Not as big and a little faster (on the TV, at least) but tough to tackle, great vision, and keeps his legs moving.

I agree. I've been really impressed with Hall when I've seen him

When someone mentioned how good the Jets roster is my mind quickly went to comparing it to past Browns rosters with Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall being OBJ and Chubb, respectively. I think Zach Wilson is worse than Baker, though. Greg Robinson and Chris Hubbard at OT. Not sure how good I'd consider that roster now.

I called him baby Chubb last night to some people. Chubb is definitely faster. Would never have gotten caught on that long run. But the way they look,.running style, results really looks a lot like chubb.

Chubb is definitely faster. Would never have gotten caught on that long run. I think it was more a matter of running out of gas than a question of speed. Just saying, of course. Hall's not that far removed from his injury. Stamina doesn't appear to be all the way back.

Breese Hall 40 time. 4.39
Nick Chubb 40 time. 4.52
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Nick Chubb 40 time. 4.52 LOL! Hall is NO Chubb. Just because Hall is supposedly faster doesn't mean Chubb wouldn't of carried the DB's in the enzone with him.

That's a totally different thing than what you stated which was "Chubb would have never been caught!".
They are different backs. One is smaller and faster. One is larger with great physical prowess. I wouldn't trade Chubb for any RB in the NFL. Not only is Chubb stronger, his vision and shiftiness are excellent. He can hit the hole with great acceleration.
But claiming a defender who caught a faster RB than Chubb but couldn't have caught Chubb just doesn't add up.

The dude that caught him ran a 4.53. Looks like he ran out of gas though.
Chubb has a great 4th gear, just takes him a split-second longer to get there. 40 time and top speed are definitely two different animals.
Henry ran a 4.54, Jonathan Taylor 4.39

I don't put a whole lot of value in 40 times. For example, I ran a 5 flat 40 in high school. (the way it was timed back then - 5 guys running, 5 coaches timing with a hand held stopwatch) I was never, not once, caught from behind by guys that were 'supposedly' faster than me. In fact, on the vid's, these track stars lost ground on me. And I was carrying the ball high and tight.

the thing about Pickett is that you have to make him hold the ball a touch more and try to throw off his first read/platform. I'd love to mix in some fake pressures and drop back, etc ...

The good thing is we actually have a Defensive Coordinator now that will know from film Pickett's strengths and weaknesses and game plan to exploit his weaknesses. He has been around the block and back and knows defense and how to stop offenses and how to confuse young QB's.

Since when are they allowed to do that (diving at a QBs knees)?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Since when are they allowed to do that (diving at a QBs knees)? ...He hit him in the waist. They aren't allowed to hit high, either. Honestly, the position defenders are put in by the rules is rather rough. On a quick view it looks low, but gravity tends to bring everything down.
