So am I brother. So am I.

And DA isn't even close enough for me to slap him in the back of the head.

If we beat the niners and the Titans lose next week, we are still in the playoffs.Good thing is that the Titans play the Colts.
Bad thing is,Gore will probably run the ball down our throats.

We do not have to beat San Fran. The San Fran game means nothing to our playoff hopes. If Indy wins, we're in no matter if we win or not.

If we lose and Indy wins, we're both 9-7 and so is Tennessee. We would then own the tiebreaker with conference record (7-5) to their (6-6)

While that's true, and this is not an arguement, I'd love to see us finish at 10-6 for the season. Something about double digit wins just makes me happy. At 9-7 were are just barely a winning team. That's good. But 10-6 seems much more real to me.

On another note, we've played well enough this season that we could potentially lose our last two games and still make the postseason. That's worth something.

O.K. I read that wrong.I just wish we would win enough games throughout the year where I didn't have to try to keep up with and understand this playoff scenario stuff. It gets confusing sometimes.

The only thing that bothers me is will Indy sit their starters so they don't get injured? Really no need to play them since it won't help their situation any.

So what breaks the tie when both are at 10-6,...?? (Both would then be 7-5 in the Conference,...)

Don't know how they measure common opponents since they played one (Houston) twice and another (Cincy) once -- that we played twice ?? They beat everybody we played as far as I can tell, including Oakland. We both beat the Jets,.... But I saw on a Titans board that they think they're going to win the TB'r on SOV -- stength of victory,...--what the helll is THAT ??

Yes, they lost to Cincy,...so by my count -- since they beat Houston both times and we lost to Oakland, they should up at least one win; so it shouldn't go to an SOV TB'r,...anyway, I still want to know what the hell that is,....net points in common games ??

We would lose the 3rd tiebreaker. 1st is head to head (not applicable for us and Tennessee). 2nd is conference record. If they beat Indy, we will both be 7-5 in the AFC. 3rd is record vs. common opponents (minimum of 4 games). They would be 4-1. We would be 3-2.

Tennessee beat Houston (twice), Oakland, and the Jets. And lost to Cincinnati.

We beat Houston, Cincy (once), and the Jets. We lost to Cincy (once), and Oakland.

4-1 is better than 3-2, so we're out.

Because of the common opponents.

The first consideration is win/loss. If we beat the 49'ers and they lose to the Colts then we have a better win/loss record at 10-6 than theirs would be at 9-7 so there is no Tie-Breaker needed and we get the WildCard.

The odd thing that is confusing is that even if we lose to the 49'ers, so long as they lose to the Colts we will be tied in the win/loss record and still get the WildCard by virtue of the Tie-Breaker system.

If we finished the season tied...

1st Tie-Breaker...Head to Head

Since we didn't play them head to head then that is not applicable to our situation.

That moves us to the 2nd Tie-Breaker...

2nd Tie-Breaker...Conference Record

Since we lost to Cincy, our conference record is now 7-5. The Titans is now 6-5.

At this point in time we lead that, but we have no more conference games to play that would allow us to better our record.

The Titans do have a conference game next, the Colts, in which to better their conference record to 7-5 which would tie us here in this 2nd Tie-Breaker.

Had we beaten Cincy yesterday our Conference Record would be 8-4. The Titans could not possibly catch up to us since they would need to win 2 Conference Games to do it and they only have one left. The best they could do is 7-5.

Their Conference Record is 6-5, (ours is 7-5). So for right now we are ahead of them in that tie breaker.

If they lose to the Colts then we are in by virtue of a better Conference Record. (7-5 vs. 6-6)

But, if they beat the Colts, then their Conference Record will tie ours at 7-5.

That moves us to the 3rd Tie-Breaker...

3rd Tie-Breaker...Common Opponent Record

We have each played our common opponents 5 times.

Our Common Opponent record is 3-2. The Titans is 4-1.

They hold the lead on the 3rd Tie-Breaker.

We have no more Common Opponents in which to better our record. That was Cincy yesterday.

Had we beaten Cincy, our Common Opponents Record would be tied with them at 4-1, BUT, to our favor, our Conference Record, (the 2nd Tie-Breaker), would then have been 8-4 and with theirs at 6-5 they couldn't have caught us with only one conference game left.

They could not possibly have caught up with us so it would never have come down to this 3rd Tie-Breaker which we lose.

We'd have won it with the 2nd Tie-Breaker.

They win the 3rd Tie-Breaker so if it comes down to that then they win the wildcard.

What we need to hope for is the tiebreaker just above that.

Conference Record.

If they lose to the Colts then we win the 2nd Tie-Breaker and we are in the playoffs.

If they beat the the Colts then they tie the 2nd Tie-Breaker.

It's already been established that they've already won the 3rd Tie-Breaker so if they beat the Colts then it is they, the Titans, who will go to the playoffs.

Go COLTS!

To summerise, (or confuse matters worse)...

If we beat the 49'ers and they lose to the Colts then our record is better at 10-6 than theirs would be at 9-7. We get the WildCard based on a better win/loss record.

If we lose to the 49'ers and they lose to the Colts , as has been said, the loss doesn't matter because then our records are still tied. That will kick in the Tie-Breakers and we will win the 2nd Tie-Breaker, (Conference Record at 7-5 to their 6-6), again we get the WildCard .

If we lose to the 49'ers and they beat the Colts , as has been said, the loss doesn't matter here either. Because if they beat the Colts then they tie the 2nd Tie-Breaker, (Conferance Record), which kicks it into the 3rd one, (Common Opponents), and they win the 3rd Tie-Breaker with a better Common Opponent Record so they get the WildCard .

So this is what has to happen for us to get into the playoffs...

The Colts have to beat the Titans.

What a difference yesterday's game made.

p.s. If the Titans lose to the Colts then we are in regardless of whether or not we beat the 49'ers. However, I'd still want to beat the 49'ers. We will then be in the playoffs by virtue of having a better win/loss record than our nearest competetor. To me that's a lot better than needing a tie-breaker. Maybe only psycologically but better none the less.

Eh...you know, after the games I've seen us play recently, I don't think we deserve the playoffs. Seriously, how embarrassing to field a team in the playoffs like we fielded yesterday. Bah hum bug.

i gotta disagree...sure we laid an egg bad yesterday....it was a bid downer for sure.....

but if we make the playoffs, and the hot team shows up who knows what could happen...it was crappy weather for throwing...but most of our success has come from that....should of ran it more...but once we were down we had no choice....

we went for the momentum just before the half, and it didn't work out...

we could beat pitt...and if we don't give the pats 21 points off turnovers, we could have been in that game (unless bellyache reined them in)

any given sunday...i like watching our team...not some other one...

this team can play with anyone....we just can't recover from huge mistakes...

Yeah, I know all about the "any given Sunday" stuff. But still, if this team can't field it's A game, I don't want them out there. And, sadly, I don't think we have an A game anymore. I know Anderson doesn't. That being said, it's been a fun year and I will of course be happy as hell to be in the playoffs. The further away we get from Sunday the better I'm feeling. So...GO BROWNS!

Well just to be objective...since DA is inconsistant, he could play the way he has in some of the wins...play bad at first, then play good in the second half of a game..

Or....he could just try to play well the ENTIRE game. Even my 85 year old Grandmother (Bungle fan) asked why he's so bad yesterday. That tells me the story right there.
