What part of this is it you call a circus? Do you think the Browns should broadcast whether watson will play or not to our opponents before they have to?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What part of this is it you call a circus? Do you think the Browns should broadcast whether watson will play or not to our opponents before they have to? The speculation that this is a power play by Watson, the speculation that the team is untruthful, players constantly being asked about the elephant in the room and not knowing how to respond, the fact that we signed such a risk to hundreds of millions guaranteed ... and he's lived WAY down to any expectation

So you are calling it a circus based on speculation. Thanks.

Could you imagine if the 49'ers snatched him up off the practice squad before the Browns elevated him to the 53 man roster?

Could you imagine if the 49'ers snatched him up off the practice squad before the Browns elevated him to the 53 man roster? I believe that he is protected so they cannot snatch him. I also believe we would have the chance to elevate PJ before they can steal him. PJ could decide to leave however

It should make my blood boil, but at this point I would laugh so hard if Walker got claimed.

I'm not sure what the rules are exactly. My understanding is that any team can poach any player on your practice squad at any time.

You can designate a certain number of players every week that can’t be poached. I’ll have to look it up and post a link

Since DW is not practicing today it would seem he will not play.
I have had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders. This has been described as a contusion to the rotator cuff.
I could not lift my elbow to rest it where the window is let down on a car door. You cannot throw. You cannot push the ball. Your arm is weak.
Hard to say what his shoulder is like. It is up to him and the doctors. If he plays and is hurting. It will show.
If he were healthy and Chubb was playing. This game would still be really hard to win.

Do you think the Browns should broadcast whether watson will play or not to our opponents before they have to? I think you've been around this team long enough to know they really don't deserve this much benefit of doubt. It isn't the chess move people like to think it is, especially with our options at QB. If an opponent prepares for Watson, they're covered because if Watson doesn't go, there's nothing to do but tee-off on whomever is in there for him.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I'm so tired of this team's circus .. we deserve better as fans than to deal with it I agree. Compare the Browns to the 49ers and you can see the difference in professionalism. The '9ers come in, playoff berth after playoff berth, Super Bowl appearance, etc. The '9ers have found a way to completely turn over their team again and again - from Harbaugh to Shanahan, and compete every year. They're starting Mr. Freaking Irrelevant at quarterback and are hands down the best team in the league, favorites over us in our own place. - Unreal. Meanwhile, the idiots in Berea have had countless high draft picks, countless free agency signings, a 230 million dollar quarterback, and yet, we have zilch to show for it and our quarterback is most likely not even playing. Unreal. Combine this nonsense with the fact that it may rain on Sunday, and you're looking at ticket prices comparable to what they were in late 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.... etc. etc. Circus is too nice of a word to describe this crap organization. On the bright side, I've never seen the niners play before so I may take my daughter to the game on Sunday. We'll get a pair of decent seats for about 50 bucks total an hour before gametime - right when it's confirmed that Watson isn't playing. Sit there for a half, bask in the fact that the people around us paid, no joke, 5x what we paid to be there, and leave at halftime.

that is definitely a bright side. I always enjoy when the random NFC teams come to Cleveland .. it just doesn't happen too often when we host SF, GB, DAL, etc

I don't agree that the team is a "circus". The guy is hurt. The same people who made excuses for Baker's horrible play do his injury, act as if Watson is playing a game with the team. It never ends with the fans. Four games in and they are calling him a bust, it is laughable. I have come to the conclusion, that many would rather have a circus, just so they can continue their constant bashing of the team, coaches, players and owner. For God's sake just go root for somebody else.
That being said, this team just can't get a break. Loaded roster, and now injuries are taking a toll. With Bitonio hurting, I see the run game as a no go. If Watson don't play, it is going to be a blowout. IMO, the playoffs are a pipe dream.
RIP, Jim

I read you loud and clear.
If you are a sports fan. You will suffer. Most of the time it does not go your way.
Football is a mixed bag. You put together a roster. And then pray to stay healthy.
People get angry because at some point you feel like it has to go your way. Except it doesn't.
You could create a perfect roster and lose to injuries. You have to have some luck.
There still a lot of games to play. Nobody is running away with the division.

I don't know if he is playing on Sunday or not, but QBs not starting normally don't address the media on Fridays. If he knows he is to address media, that seems noteworthy.
I suppose he could have said that just so he can dodge talking to them.

Watson won't play, at minimum, until next week IMO. And probably not until our game vs Arizona

the issue is that we'll be 2-4 or 2-5 when he returns and basically done

JosinaAnderson @JosinaAnderson · 21m I’m told the #Browns QB Deshaun Watson will not play Sunday vs the 5-0 #49ers, per source.

I wonder what kind of influence this Quincey Avery dude is having behind the scenes. I guess I missed something...explain??? Maybe I have it wrong but I think Dshaun has a personal QB coach,.Avery, that I think is with him all the time. I think he was in the video clip floating around where Watson tells Stefanski he can't go against the Ravens. If I have that wrong, someone tell me.

Quincy Avery is his personal QB coach and also does a weekly podcast with Watson. He comes across as a clown. Avery was not on the field when Watson told Stefanski and Berry he could not go against the Ravens.

We wasted a lot of money and draft picks on this guy. Should have stuck with Mayfield.

I truthfully wonder if we could trade for Brissett

this goes back to my poor opinion of this FO with regards to personnel management. You tell everyone the goal is a deep playoff run it should be a fun year, but none of your moves suggest that. Putting a rookie against a defense that has the propensity to destroy rookie QBs, then your plan is to sign a guy that has thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns.. I mean the two most important pieces on the offense to have viable depth imo is QB and RB, our moves don't align with having good depth at skill positions. So what you have instead, two games where there is literally less than a zero percent chance of winning given the situation and all that is at stake is potential injuries to other players . You have to give your team a chance to win on any given sunday and Berry has failed miserably at that on the offensive side, add in a HC that shouldn't be calling plays and what you're going to get is a game that is going to be over with by Q2
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

So, by my calculation, Watson has been with the Browns for 17 games last season, and including the SF game in 2 days, 5 this season. 22 games total.
He's played a total of 9 - maybe 10 games. Is that right?
I know, suspended, no injured.

not a very good return on investment thus far

I had no idea that "I'll talk to you tomorrow" means the Browns had made the decision P.J. walker would be the starter. I mean, who knew? This aged well. It aged the way it should have aged. "I'll talk to you tomorrow" didn't mean watson wouldn't start. It turns out watson isn't starting but those two things don't mean the same thing. No matter how much you attempt to make that so.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

not a very good return on investment thus far I didn't particularly like the trade at the time and like it even less now. We gave up way too much in value. IMO, we could have won it all with Brissette and the draft choices....

j/c...
So now the reports are Watson has not been cleared to play. Stefanski had said Watson had been medically cleared to play. Over the bye week, both he and Berry doubled down saying they expected Watson to play in the SF game and now this...
The messaging by the Browns on this has been disastrous.

there are weird rumors on Twitter that he may be in an out-patient rehab thing right now and this is all being used to cover that up.

Maybe I'm being lazy here, but doesn't the NFL have strict rules about accurately reporting injuries?

I suspect, by next week, he'll have cancer of the shoulder and will need experimental surgery. All this, on the heels of a QB that would play with a broken shoulder and severed limb. Only in Cleveland -- this is fun! I seriously have not been this 'checked out' since we realized Charlie Frye wasn't going to be a HOFer.

I seriously have not been this 'checked out' since we realized Charlie Frye wasn't going to be a HOFer. Getting rid of my season tickets may be one of the most rational decisions I’ve made as an adult. 😀 It’s the same story every year, huge offseason hype. Most talented team on paper they’ve ever had! Inevitably, they manage to puke all over themselves.

I feel basically the same as the four posts above. Though I think that point came for me during the crumbling of the 2014 season after Hoyer's 7-4 start.
However, as hard as I've tried or promises I've made to myself to stay away from the TV on Sundays (including Hue's years), I find myself sitting in my chair watching the whole game. I've turned it off a few times during the 4th quarter, but that's the exception. When 10am rolls around (even when it was obvious we were going to lose going in), the self-loathing and masochism amps up I guess.
The worst part is that I gave up drinking years ago which, of course, has made the entire situation clearer.

We should all be preparing ourselves for another long week after Sunday's game. Actually, it's starting to look like another long, losing season.

If the weather is trash, I'll watch just for something to do during the day, but if it isn't raining, I've got plenty of other ways out in the yard/pasture of wasting a day while inflicting pain upon myself.

I dont understand why we are starting a QB from the practice squad? Is that REALLY the best we can do? Its like quitting before we even play. Why was there not a better plan?

The Browns have clearly said winning this game is not important because it's a non conference game, and I am sure in their minds they'll get serious again in week 6 on their way to the playoffs. What a message to send the team. I wonder if Stef talked about putting in the work this week. What a clown.

So is it then your contention the Browns would have a better chance of winning if they started DTR? I find it odd that people aren't blaming the people that created this situation rather than the person having to deal with it.

I assume that Watson actually has an injured shoulder. I do wonder if it is worse than we know.
That being said I do not think Watson wants to be here.

Makes that Dobbs decision look even more foolish. He made some awful decisions and poor throws versus the Bengals last week. I have a hard time believing he would make much of a difference right now. I guess he might be better than what we currently have but he's not winning games either with this current lineup we will be starting with all the injuries.

I certainly don't think it would make a difference this week against the 9'ers. But the next two games are against the Colts and Seahawks. If watson can't play in those games the upgrade to Dobbs could have certainly have made the difference between W's and L's. While I agree Dobbs isn't a world beater at QB, he has a completion rate of 65.8% with 6td's to 2int's. Nothing outstanding there but a pretty good completion rate and not many mistakes. That may have been just enough at QB to beat some of those marginal teams the Browns may be facing.
I've always believed that it's a GM's job to upgrade and maintain the best talent on the roster possible within financial reason. We had Dobbs on the roster to begin with. Now we don't and I believe the QB position is worse off for it.

Was the plan to dump all of the NFLs problems on the city of Cleveland, because the fans wlll put up with anything. analytics.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

They thought he was playing against the Ravens. They thought he was playing against the 49ers. I'll be floored if he plays against the Colts. I don't believe a word out of Berea until he's actually on the field and playing on a Sunday. (This isn't a shot at you, Eve.)
