But it’s ok, cause Trump knows how to negotiate the certification. He would’ve been able to negotiate the civil war, after all.

Yeah, according to trump he could have negotiated and prevented the Civil War. Lincoln screwed that all up. Just ask trump.

Trump says Civil War could have been negotiated

Yes, isn't Trump wonderful..... I know all good Republicans come to Trump's side over everything---like Mike Pence- he surely can't be a real Republican- must be a RINO- cuz-quote-"Pence, once fiercely loyal to his old boss, dismantled Trump's recent description in Iowa that Jan. 6, 2021, was "peaceful" and the work of "patriots." Trump also describes more than 1,000 people, who were convicted in connection with crimes on Jan. 6, as political "hostages." And the former president has made unsubstantiated claims that the Jan. 6 attack was the work of the FBI." Additionally, ""The truth is that this was a riot that should never have happened," Pence said Sunday morning during an interview on CNN's State of the Union." Pence is just the former VP- a complete RINO---plus he's publicly stating the Grande Old Party has to find another candidate----guess he's in ANYBODY BUT TRUMP crowd.

"Think of it, magnets," Trump said. "Now all I know about magnets is this, give me a glass of water, let me drop it on the magnets, that's the end of the magnets. Why didn't they use John Deere? Why didn't they bring in the John Deere people? Do you like John Deere? I like John Deere."

according to trump magnets don't work if they are wet. saywhat

Donald Trump says he hopes economy tanks this election year 'because I don't want to be Herbert Hoover'

WASHINGTON − Former President Donald Trump seems to be rooting for a financial crash this year so that it can help him get reelected.

“When there’s a crash − I hope it’s gonna be during this next 12 months, because I don't want to be Herbert Hoover," Trump told interviewer Lou Dobbs on the "Lindell TV" platform.

Hoover was president during the stock market crash of 1929 and the onset of the Great Depression.

The White House and President Joe Biden's reelection campaign said Trump and the Republicans are willing to hurt the middle class for their own political benefit.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates, noting that consumer confidence is rising, inflation is falling, and employment is up, said "a commander-in-chief’s duty is to always put the American people first; never to hope that hard-working families suffer economic pain for their own political benefit."

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden's campaign manager, said that “Donald Trump should just say he doesn’t give a damn about people, because that’s exactly what he’s telling the American people."

Trump, who described the economy as "fragile," has been predicting calamity under Biden for years. But most economic indicators at the present time are favorable as the economy recovers from COVID-era shutdowns.

Democrats and commentators said Trump is rooting for failure that would hurt millions of Americans in order to attack Biden.

"It's just another manifestation of the insensitivity and the grotesqueness of this person," said House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., speaking on MSNBC.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...pes-economy-crashes-in-2024/72159263007/

He's already setting the stage that if he's re-elected and the economy tanks he will blame it on Biden. But what can one expect from a man that never takes accountability for anything he says or does?

We’ve already lived through the economy Trump left. Thanks, but no thanks. Biden has the economy rocking again, and everybody sees it except Trumptards.

Trumptards! Lol

Now trump is calling his trumptards to arms if he’s not granted immunity for the mayhem he’s already caused.

His last point is a good one. I would be curious to see what the Trump supporters reactions' would be if Biden took out Trump because he was a threat to national security.

He insists he did nothing wrong, yet demands immunity from all the things he did. Do his supporters not have the ability to dissect this? Where’s Diam? This is an easy 1+1=2 moment.

People who did nothing wrong have no need for immunity. I just thought I would spell it out for those still having a problem comprehending it.

So far we have had a lot of Fifth Pleading with a new sprinkling of immunity thrown in.

It Never Ends With the Freedom Caucus: Mike Johnson Ouster Countdown Begins

Less than three months into Mike Johnson’s tenure as speaker of the House, some House Republicans are already experiencing buyer’s remorse.

Texas Representative and Freedom Caucus member Chip Roy on Monday publicly raised the possibility of dumping Johnson as speaker.

Questioned by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Roy mentioned “colleagues that are really frustrated” with Johnson and alluded to “real conversations this week about what [House Republicans] need to do going forward,” calling the situation “[not] good.”

And Roy is not alone. As Punchbowl News reports, some House Republicans have “significant concerns” about whether Johnson—the least experienced speaker in 140 years—is “in over his head.” At least one Republican claimed Johnson is “getting rolled even more than [ousted former Speaker Kevin] McCarthy did.”

Conservative dissatisfaction with Johnson stems from what some see as his acquiescence to President Biden and House Democrats on spending. Johnson over the weekend agreed to a $1.59 trillion spending deal for 2024. Under the deal, fiscal spending will be limited to what was mostly laid out in June’s Fiscal Responsibility Act, which averted a government shutdown at the time but also angered the Freedom Caucus and in part led to McCarthy’s ouster.

In the green but hard-line Johnson, Republicans like Roy saw a figure more amenable to their brand of austerity and obstructionism. Facing his first real test, however, Johnson seems to have failed in the eyes of some of his colleagues.

Now concerns over Johnson’s ability to lead are trickling out via anonymous quotes from “VERY well connected” House members.

Johnson’s rise from little-known Louisiana congressman to speaker of the House in the 23 days following McCarthy’s removal was seen as a win for the party’s right wing; Johnson’s 2020 election denial and social conservatism (he opposes abortion rights and same-sex marriage and sees his election as divinely ordained) allowed anti-McCarthy holdouts to coalesce around his candidacy.

But the one-member threshold for vacating a House speaker, which McCarthy implemented and which led to his own ousting, is still in place.

And now, it seems Johnson’s days as speaker may be numbered.

https://news.yahoo.com/never-ends-freedom-caucus-mike-190531260.html

This is how the Freedumb Caucus responds to any leader they have that tries to actually get anything done. Heaven forbid!

Conservatives tank procedural vote in revolt against Johnson’s spending deal

There's a partially dark side of me that wants to see him ousted just for the sake of watching how devolved the choice for the next speaker would get.

Really?

When dealing with government agencies, it seems the burden of proof falls on the defendant. The IRS as an example. The burden falls on the taxpayer to provide all the proof they didn't do anything wrong. They shouldn't have to provide anything. The defense doesn't have to provide any discovery except in some cases reciprocal discovery is common. It is fairly common in some states, and most always pre-trial discovery. If this goes to trial, the defense may have to provide basic information like names and phone numbers of people who may be used to substantiate an alibi or things of that nature. It's mostly done to speed up the trial process.

It's a sad day when pleading the 5th is viewed as being criminal. Even if they are criminals, pleading the 5th is a Constitutional right.
Proving one's innocence is far harder than proving guilt. Especially in cases when much of the evidence is subjective.

Invoking the 5th means you aren't going to be a witness against yourself. Why would anybody do that?

I hope you know that I don't actually believe that, given both of our backgrounds. That was a direct quote from Trump, hence the quote marks.

Wow, yesterday was a mess in the House. Comer chaired a committee meeting where they wanted to vote to have Hunter Biden held in contemp (not sure I'm saying that right) because he wouldn't testify for the committee.. He was there, ready to testify under oath but Rep's wanted it behind closed doors,, he won't do that for obvious reasons. Then you have Mace and Green... Yikes, Mace calling for the immediate arrest of Hunter Biden and then you have Green hold up a photo of Biden in the nude.

Republicans have gone around the bend in their efforts to stand up for Trump...

That pesky Hunter. Showing up for his own contempt of Congress hearing. They wouldn’t let him testify under oath in public. Then walking out when MTG began to speak. Lol. Well played, Hunter, well played. Another L for trump and his loyal deplorables.

It is a funny thing. The fifth is a right afforded everyone. Not speaking to law enforcement without an attorney present is as well. Yet if you refuse to speak to law enforcement without an attorney the police will claim you refused to cooperate to make you appear guilty in the public eye and prosecutors as well as your detractors will frame you as guilty for exercising your right to plead the fifth. In any serious legal case I think only a fool would allow the police to question them without an attorney present. And yes, it was trump who said only guilty people plead the fifth. Until of course he did it himself.

Judge in Trump fraud case receives bomb threat at home, authorities say

Trump had sought to deliver his own closing arguments in the case that threatens to prevent him from doing business in New York state, but the judge ruled he will not be speaking in court.

NEW YORK − Nassau County authorities responded Thursday to a bomb threat at the home of state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial, but the incident isn’t expected to delay closing arguments in the case.

“There was a threat. I can confirm a bomb threat,” said Al Baker, a court spokesperson. “As of now we are going forward as scheduled and the court proceedings and closing arguments are going ahead as planned.”

At 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, hours before the trial’s final day was set to begin, Nassau County police said they responded to a “swatting incident” at Engoron’s Great Neck home. Nothing amiss was found at the location, officials said.

At the courthouse, security moved slower than usual for people waiting to enter. A man with a sweatshirt marked "bomb squad" and a dog was seen at the courthouse.

"We've had layers of security around the courthouse and that is continuing," Baker said. "We've added extra security to ensure the safety of court proceedings."

The threat came after Engoron blocked Trump from delivering his own closing arguments in the case. Trump didn’t reply to Engoron’s proposed restrictions on his comments such as not delivering a political speech, so the judge prohibited him from delivering closing remarks.

Trump has addressed reporters outside the courtroom when he attended the trial from October through December. But Engoron also placed a gag order on Trump against commenting on the judge’s staff and fined the former president a combined $15,000 for comments and social media posts.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking $370 million and an end to Trump and his namesake company doing business in the state for exaggerating his wealth and the value of properties in his real estate empire.

Trump contends he did nothing wrong and that there were no victims in the case because lenders were repaid with interest.

So Republicans want to see Hunter convicted for criminal contempt because he chose to accept one of the options THEY offered him? These guys are a joke....

I think if they wish to convict Hunter then all of those Republicans who refused to show up for the January 6th congressional hearings under subpoena should face the exact same consequences. The difference being, they refused to testify under any condition. That would include House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Jim Jordan of Ohio, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania and Mo Brooks of Alabama.

Yeah, then Comer walked it back.. Saying these had to be done in private. I don't blame Hunter for not wanting to do that.

He was. that's more than I can say for House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Jim Jordan of Ohio, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania and Mo Brooks of Alabama. And not only did nothing happen to them, they're on board with something happening to Hunter Biden. The hypocrisy and double standard here is thick.

So do you agree that if Hunter Biden is to be prosecuted for failing to appear under the GOP conditions that those Republicans who did the same should also be prosecuted?

I don't know how it works,, I don't understand why Republicans can ignore subpoenas and Democrats aren't allowed to. I don't understand how GOPers can hold up pictures of a nude person in congress not once, but twice and get away with it.

What is clear is that YOU don't understand that some folks have a life outside of this message board and can easily miss a post or two.. Sometimes for Months.
