As someone who has been mostly playing catch-up in terms of the history behind everything that's going on, I found this article very helpful and there are a number of jumping-off points that turned into Google searches.

It also really did a good job of illustrating the lack of "good guys" in how we got to this point.

Holy hell. Emotional breakdown too from guys who had very likely seen some ish in their jobs before all this went down, so you know it was a rough scene.

Just awful.

That’s the same guy I heard telling about two beds with 10 kids each tied to them, dowsed with fuel and set on fire. I’m sure they will have PTSD.

The atrocities committed against Israeli civilians by Hamas is unforgivable and actions that only a rabid animal would commit.

Heard from a friend last night. Their kid is attached to a special forces support unit and just got deployment orders to Syria. Can’t say 100% that it’s related, but I think it is linked to Israel and what’s going on there.

Sounds a lot like far right wing extremism with the typical NAZI agenda of exterminating the Jews.

The amount of antisemitism displayed by the left these past few weeks has truly been something to behold. And not simply extremists....we're talking public officials, higher education, etc. It's been disgusting.

The amount of antisemitism shown by right wing extremism (NAZI’s) over the last century far surpasses what you are trying to put forth here. And we’re not talking about teachers and professors here. It’s been ruthless dictators killing Jews en mass. Nothing disgusting about that right? But please continue your petty finger pointing.

Anybody notice how once again, criticizing the Israeli government automatically makes you part of the clown show that’s criticizing Jews?

I’m not religious, and my defense of Israel has nothing to do with the religion, because I despise the big 3 religions. All they’ve brought is nonstop suffering and death. I support Israel for strictly geographic and diplomatic reasons.

When people on any side start using scripture from <insert book>, I tune it out.

Umm… I guess you forgot Trump’s clan in Charlottesville chanting ‘Jews will not replace us’… But I get your point because these people piss me off too. The terrorists that attacked Israel beheaded babies, as far as I’m concerned that falls on everyone in the GAZA strip. But I’ve already had PIT on me about my opinions and not being rational and all, I just have no feelings of remorse for how I feel and won’t.

And now as to you putting this on dems, hold the f up a minute. Sure some dems cry over the lack of empathy for Palestinians, but NOT ALL. And I’ve seen GOPers do the same. I think most of the examples you provided looked to either be Western Palestinians or Western Muslims, rather they were dems or not is unknown.

And stone cold fact: Trumpian GOPers have been crazy antisemites several times over the last few years. The headstone toppling, shooting up synagouges, AND THE FAR RIGHT HATE GROUPS ASSOCIATED WITH ONLY GOPers lead the way.

There are only two boxes on the liberal flowchart.

The first one can be anything from climate change to aliens.

The second one is 100% always "TRUMP!!!"

Here, I let your beloved ChatGPT analyze your previous five posts and try to come up with a diagnoses.

The results were actually not that shocking...

Quote
I'm not a mental health professional, but I can provide some general insights into what might be happening when someone consistently engages in conversation-shifting behavior. It's important to approach such assessments with caution, as mental health is a complex and sensitive topic. Here are a few possibilities that may contribute to such behavior:

1. Confirmation Bias: The individual might have a strong confirmation bias, which leads them to only focus on information or arguments that align with their pre-existing beliefs. They may use strawman arguments as a way to dismiss or deflect any viewpoints that challenge their own.

2. Cognitive Dissonance: This person might experience cognitive dissonance when confronted with ideas that contradict their beliefs. To reduce this discomfort, they may use arguments to distort or misrepresent opposing views, making it easier to reject them.

3. Escapism: Shifting conversations to Donald Trump or a similar figure could serve as a form of escapism, distracting from other issues or emotions the person may not want to confront. This behavior may be an attempt to avoid more personal or uncomfortable topics.

4. Attention-Seeking: This individual may wish to to draw attention to themselves and provoke reactions from others. By making controversial statements, they might elicit responses and feel a sense of importance or relevance in the online community.

5. Lack of Critical Thinking: Some people may not have developed strong critical thinking skills, which can lead to a reliance on logical fallacies. They may genuinely believe they are contributing to the conversation even if they are not effectively engaging with the topic.

6. Communication Skills: In some cases, the person may struggle with effective communication and may not know how to address or respond to the actual topic at hand. Shifting to a familiar figure like Donald Trump might be a way to participate in discussions without having to engage deeply in nuanced debates.

It's important to remember that online interactions are not a comprehensive window into an individual's mental health. If you believe someone may be struggling with psychological issues, it's best to encourage them to seek professional help, and it's not advisable to diagnose or speculate about their mental state without proper evaluation by a mental health expert.

I’m not liking the IDF’s tactics. Essentially bombing Gaza isn’t doing anything but creating more Hamas militants. They should’ve done a ground invasion from the very beginning instead of targeted bombing, especially because there’s zero chance of avoiding civilian casualties in an urban environment if you’re bombing the place.

IDF is doing the same thing Hamas is doing, making no one have the moral high ground. Should have been ground invasion from the jump, kicking down doors, and gaining valuable intel at the same time. Hell, if they started with ground forces, I would support some American troops joining in because we have 20 years of doing exactly that in Afghanistan and Iraq.

IDF has struck a church in Gaza, because people forget there are plenty of Palestinian Christian’s there as well. Former Republican rep Amash announced that some relatives were killed sheltering in a church that was struck by IDF bombing. But this is what happens when you decide to link everybody’s ethnicity with their religion; you no longer can tell - or WANT to tell - the difference.

Y’all know I have no problem with military engagements, but I have big issues with responding to civilian casualties by purposely targeting civilians. This is similar to the indiscriminate bombing Russia has been doing to Ukrainian civilians, except they are the aggressors from the start.
