They have been playing well offensively ... as long as they have the combo of Stafford/Kupp/Nacua/Williams, they will be a tough task on the road
Obviously a lot will depend on our health and who is playing QB. Our guys up front have to handle Donald too.
Limiting three things needs to start consistently happening: turnovers, penalties, and drops
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

For some reason, I have a better feeling about this game than last.
Namely, I won't be able to watch (literally every game I am able to listen/watch, they play poorly). As D4L said, it also depends on how our defensive health is looking (Garrett and Ward, and possibly not in that order).
I hope last week's egg ends up being a positive (wakeup call).
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

For some reason, I have a better feeling about this game than last I had the same feeling last week. This is a must win for the season. Win this one and we win out. Lose and we can forget about the playoffs.

I thought that it was on by us Agree with you, though. Every game I am able to watch, they do poorly, minus the first Cincy game. They win every game I don't watch. At some point, if you have overwhelming correlation, one has to infer causation.

We don't.
That said, we will simply because we have no business doing so.

Dline is going to have to be about 100x better than it was against Denver, Bolles dominated Garrett, made him look foolish, McGlinchy (sp.) is one of the worst tackles in the nfl and we couldn't even get pressure from his side.. This defense starts and ends with pressure and winning at the LOS. Going to have to be much better against the run. On offense, hopefully KS learned his lesson after the beating he's taken from all sides about how stupid his playcalling was last week.. It wouldn't be the worst thing for him to err on the side of rush dominant playcalling and mixing in PA. Depending on the QB, if its DTR, probably going to be a loss unless defense holds them to a couple FGs, if we can't (and we average giving up 30 points a game on the road) we won't win unless Flacco gets the call, if walker gets in at all may as well just turn it off. I think this is primed to be another loss.. Have to see how the injury report shakes out.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

Pretty much the exact same thing I said about last game: ball control, clock control. Don’t turn it over, try to win the game of possession and field posiiton. We’re officially a low scoring “hang around” team now. Our offense is not going to be a dependable force in any game for the foreseeable future. As such, ball control, clock control. Which translates to run and short, quick passes over the middle. Keep the clock moving when we have the ball, the opposite of hurry-up. Of course that changes if we get down 2 scores but it shouldn’t in the 1st 3 quarters. They have a lot of offensive weapons. Keep them on the sideline.

I made this same post on Flacco thread then found this thread, which is the best place to for it...sorry for duplicate.
How to win...football basics..keep moving the sticks.
RUN THE BALL..especially on early downs. Try to keep the offense ahead of the down and distance game..in other words, focus on making first downs.
Use the jumbo package on 1st down in an attempt to make positive yardage on 1st down. Hopefully Stefanski has a package of passing plays out of the jumbo package. When the Rams defense adjusts to stop the run take advantage with quick passes that might turn into YACS.
If the Browns OLine is able to control the line of scrimmage and give Flacco the time needed to throw deep, try to burn the Rams defensive backfield on deeper passes.
I'm not saying use "jumbo package" exclusively..but as long as the running game can produce positive yardage and keep Flacco out of 'must pass' situations...don't get pass happy...but if the Oline can protect Flacco, don't be afraid to go with deeper passes when we have an advantage.
Avoid the stupid penalties and eliminate turnovers. Stefanski needs to up his play calling and not waste plays that have a history of low or no production, hoping the play will work this time..run the plays that work and run them until the Rams show that they can stop them.
The key to winning...MAKING FIRST DOWNS...the game is played 10yds at a time. The key to making those 10yds at a time 'the offensive line'.
The Browns need to play this game as if it is an ELIMINATION GAME...Stefanski and the entire team need to play this game thinking, IF THEY LOSE THIS GAME, it might end the Browns playoffs hopes.

Glad to read this post. Agree with this post overall, Mac. Wanted to share something we saw watching games at the sports bar, my Browns Backers friends. We saw quite often that KS often calls a predictable play, one of about three, on first down. Often, it goes for little or no gain. This is repeated week in and week out. You pointed out, and he often fails, to stay ahead of the sticks. We are behind them often due to penalties and drops as well as a ground game we abandon early. I am unable to figure what he sees in these underachiever plays on first down calls. But lousy first downs, failures to convert fourth downs, and to see it so often, makes me wonder what "the brightest guy in the room" is using to measure success in an ailing offense. Seems prevalent enough that somebody else should notice. I think we can run, just not what we have done. I acknowledge that QB limits us as do injuries. We would be better with fewer three and out series, and as Mac suggests, keeping with the run with better first down calls might help us. Doing the same predictable stuff hasn't showered us with success.

So Flacco is probably gonna start, right?

It’s going to be be interesting. What will we do? Our bootleg plays won’t be effective, lol but he’s a big guy who can toss it.

Good thing about Flacco starting is that stefanski will be forced to run the ball more. Which in itself is a sad statement

We should run aQB draw on the first play and then some bootlegs. The Rams won’t be expecting that!!

I'm sorry that DTR is hurt. I also think it's sad that this is what it took to start a far more experienced QB. This isn't like some seasons of the past. This is the window where you play yo win now, not develop players for the future on game days.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I think he should be forever banned from calling plays where the ball carrier runs backwards. They always end in disaster.

I think our D pwns their O and Flacco will do enough to make this a convincing win. This is exactly what we need, we’ll see…
