Man if a punter or kicker has to do anything remotely outside of their core responsibilities they get hurt. These guys are still supposed to be athletes.

They're basically the dads you see everyday at the local gym or Y, just with an exceptionally ability to punt or kick. Put them on a field running around chasing twenty-something year old, peak athletes and those hammies are popping like a bad garage door spring.

Like how can you justify allowing returns knowing that if your kicker has to run they will get hurt. Crazy.

I'd have two rules for my football squad:

1) My kickers and punting don't try and make tackles unless it is a game on the line as the final play of the game type situation.

2) My QB does not try and make a tackle after throwing an INT. Lone exception is if it game ending situation in the playoffs.

Kickers are like the QB's of the special teams

Although tackling isn't something you want your QB doing

QB's do take off running and take hits if they haven't went into a slide

I still think a Kicker should be able to tackle, game on the line or not.

It is a team effort

It's like WR's who don't like to block or tackle after an interception

If your on the field , then play the game and do what you have to to help your team win

I do understand your two rules, and you aer probably right

It's the John Madden in me smile
