MAGA Fans Slammed For Launching GoFundMe To Help Billionaire Donald Trump Pay $355M Fine

Donald Trump's supporters are trying to raise money to help the former president offset the $355 million fine after being found guilty in the New York civil fraud trial.

A GoFundMe page was started on the billionaire mogul's behalf shortly after the court imposed the fine on him for fraudulently inflating the value of his assets in financial documents.

It has since garnered the ire of social media users, with many saying Trump is already a billionaire and doesn't need the funds.

Over $63,000 Was Raised Within 21 Hours Of Its Creation

Months after the New York Attorney General's office filed a suit against Donald Trump for fraudulently inflating his assets in financial documents, the billionaire mogul has been found guilty by the court.

The verdict came on Friday, with the judge in charge of the case, Justice Engoron, ordering that Trump and his companies pay a massive $354,868,768 fine, as recommended by Attorney General Letitia James.

While Trump has expressed his intention to appeal the decision, his supporters have taken matters into their own hands by donating to a GoFundMe to offset the fine. The page, entitled "Stand with Trump; Fund the $335M Unjust Judgment," had raised over $63,000 from more than 1700 donors within 21 hours of its creation.

Some of the donations ranged in smaller values between $5 and $100, while some individuals went the extra mile by donating above $1000.

The Ex-President's Supporter Says GoFundMe Is 'More Than A Legal Fund'

The GoFundMe page was launched by Elena Cardone, the wife of real estate investor Grant Cardone. As part of the donation call to action, Elena stated that the fund's main purpose is to show loyalty to Trump and, by extension, other MAGA supporters.

"This is more than a legal fund; it's a clarion call to all patriots to rally in defense of a man who has never hesitated to stand in defense of us," she penned.

She added, "It's about showing that when one of us is targeted for championing the values that make America great, he does not stand alone. We stand with him, shoulder to shoulder, ready to support, defend, and fight back against a system that threatens to undermine the very foundations of our republic."

Meanwhile, Elena's husband took to X, formerly Twitter, to slam the "unjust" judgment and ask people to donate to the fund.

"Give something & DEMONSTRATE that the people of America are standing together against unjust rulings like this where a bias [sic] judges & corrupt legal system is out of control," he wrote.

He added, "Any amount is welcomed & 100% of funds will be forwarded to Trump Org for his defense of this ridiculous judgment. If this ruling stands, everything you own is at risk."

Social Media Users Slam Donald Trump's GoFundMe

On social media, several users slammed the fundraising gesture, saying that it violated the rules of GoFundMe.

"I am pretty sure @gofundme has a few rules about raising funds to pay criminal fines. What say you @gofundme," said one user.

"This is a clear violation of @gofundme TOS. I give it 24 hours, and they'll suspend it," another individual remarked.

Several other users noted that the Trump family is made up of billionaires who should be the ones raising the funds.

An individual remarked, "His daughter and son-in-law have 2 billion. Let them bail him out."

Another person said, "What balls. He's a billionaire with a freaking private 747 jet. He can liquidate some assets. Stop trying to make people living paycheck to paycheck to pay his bills."

One more user wrote, "Since Trump said Mar-a-lago is worth $1.5 billion, he should sell that, pay off the fines, and pocket the difference. It's a clown move to GoFundMe for a guy who claims he's a billionaire."

Looks like about 4000 people (so far) are going to end up in jail on a turn signal violation. I'd refrain from using my real name on that GoFundMe.

At $180,000 now.

NY AG says she may seize Trump assets if he doesn’t pay $355 million fine

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) is prepared to seize former President Trump’s assets if he does not pay the nearly $355 million verdict levied against him in a civil business fraud trial last week, she told ABC News on Tuesday.

“If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” she told ABC News.

The $355 million verdict and additional $100 million in prejudgment interest handed down Friday are the largest financial penalty levied against Trump and his companies amid his various legal cases. Legal experts have speculated that the massive penalty could require Trump to sell some of his real estate empire.

Trump’s attorneys have vowed to appeal the case, accusing Judge Arthur Engoron of judicial malpractice and labeling the case politically motivated. Trump attorney Alina Habba called the verdict “manifest injustice” and the culmination of a “multi-year, politically fueled witch hunt that was designed to ‘take down Donald Trump.’”

James said she is confident that she will succeed in appeal, and listed Trump’s 40 Wall Street tower by name as one asset that could be taken.

“We are prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers, and yes, I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day,” she said.

Trump and his company were found liable for business fraud, specifically manipulating the value of assets in order to garner favorable insurance rates and loan terms. The verdict also bans Trump from working in New York real estate for three years.

Why do they continue to persecute this innocent man.

Judge in Trump fraud case denies request to pause $354 million judgment

The judge who ordered former President Donald Trump to pay $354 million in fines, and nearly $100 million in interest, in his civil fraud case in New York denied a request from Trump's lawyers to delay formalizing his decision.

In an email to Trump's legal team and lawyers from the New York Attorney General's Office on Thursday, Judge Arthur Engoron of the New York State Supreme Court said he would sign a judgment proposed by the state that finalizes his ruling.

"You have failed to explain, much less justify, any basis for a stay," he wrote, addressing Trump attorney Clifford Robert. "I am confident that the Appellate Division will protect your appellate rights."

Last Friday, Engoron ruled that Trump and the Trump Organization must pay a total of $453.5 million in fines and interest for orchestrating a decade-long scheme to inflate the value of assets to obtain more favorable loan and insurance terms.

He barred them from seeking loans from financial institutions in New York for three years, and said an independent monitor would oversee the company for the same amount of time. Trump is also banned from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for three years. The decision included a variety of fines and sanctions for several other defendants, including Trump's two eldest sons.

Trump has vowed to appeal the ruling, and has harshly criticized Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleging they pursued the civil case for political reasons.

On Tuesday, the attorney general's office proposed a judgment that laid out the penalties included in Engoron's order. Robert, Trump's attorney, objected to the proposal, writing in a letter to Engoron that it was an "improper, unilateral submission" that "fails to provide any notice whatsoever, thereby depriving Defendants of the opportunity to be heard before judgment is entered."

Trump's lawyers asked Engoron on Wednesday to postpone enforcement of the judgment for 30 days, arguing in a separate letter that the delay would "allow for an orderly post-Judgment process, particularly given the magnitude of Judgment."

Engoron replied over email that the proposed judgment "accurately reflects the spirit and letter of the February 16 Decision and Order," and said he "intend[s] to sign the proposed judgment this morning and to send it to the Clerk for further processing."

Robert made one final plea Thursday morning, saying "there is no exigency or potential prejudice to the attorney general from a brief stay of enforcement of the Judgment," while the "prejudice to the defendants is considerable."

The judge said Trump's attorney had "failed to explain, much less justify, any basis for a stay," denying his request to pause enforcement of his ruling.

In order to appeal the judge's decision, Trump would need to post a bond covering the $354 million in penalties, according to John Coffee, a Columbia University law professor and an expert on corporate governance and white collar crime.

"That will be costly," Coffee told CBS MoneyWatch when the decision came down last week. "Some banks will post the bond for him, for a hefty fee, but they will want security that they can liquidate easily, and that may require some sale of some of his assets."

In an interview earlier this week, James told ABC News that if Trump does not have the funds to pay the $354 million penalty, she is prepared to ask a judge to "seize his assets."

"We are prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers," James said.

A judge gave Trump 30 days to pay the $454 million civil fraud judgment. He'll owe an additional $112,000 in interest each day he doesn't.

The countdown has officially begun for Donald Trump.

Judge Arthur Engoron, overseeing the former president's civil fraud trial, finalized his judgment in the case Friday evening, per court records — meaning Trump now has 30 days to fork over the $454 million in fines or secure a bond for the total amount, the Associated Press reported.

The amount includes a $354 million penalty plus nearly $100 million in pre-judgment interest.

A spokesperson for Attorney General Letitia James confirmed to the AP that Trump will begin accruing interest of $111,984 per day.

Per the AP, this interest amount considers both the penalty and the pre-judgment interest — not just the penalty — meaning Trump will owe more interest than the $87,502 per day previously thought.

On Thursday, Engoron rejected Trump's lawyers' attempts to delay the start of the penalty

The finalized ruling also means that Trump has 30 days to appeal the verdict, per New York law.

On February 16, the legal battle between James and Trump in Engoron's Manhattan courtroom came to an end after the New York City judge spelled out the penalties that Trump, two of his sons, and his former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg would pay for years of "inflating asset values to make more money."

"The documents prove this over and over again. This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin," Engoron, who previously doled out a pre-trial ruling in September that found Trump committed fraud for years, said in his February verdict.

Engoron continued: "Defendants did not commit murder or arson. They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff. Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways."

Trump and his lawyers, who spent months defending the value of the former president's businesses, called the verdict a "gross miscarriage of justice."

Trump lawyer Christopher Kise said he is preparing to appeal, per a statement to Newsweek.

"The case raises serious legal and constitutional questions regarding 'fraud' claims/findings without any actual fraud," Kise told the publication.

Representatives for James and Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Sounds like he’s already running on financial fumes and even the dupe contributions are finally dropping off. Hell, he’s been operatinng on political donations for about a year, dedicating every cent to keeping himself out of jail long enough to have a chance. The SCOTUS should just confirm his disqualification already and put MAGA out of it’s misery.
