Ever since I can remember I loved Westerns. I have watched them all since we first got a TV. If the right actors were in them. I watched them.

Even now I wait for another. This is a tribute to Westerns.

Not to hijack the thread but you may wish to keep an eye out for this one......

Horizon: An American Saga

The first part of Horizon: An American Saga lands in theaters on June 28, 2024, the second on August 16, 2024, so at least we won't have long to wait. I'm curious how this will go over with audiences. If it's as good as it looks and reviews well, it might be a one-two punch that really boosts this year's box office.

What is the new Western series with Kevin Costner?

Horizon: An American Saga: Everything We Know About Kevin ...

For Kevin Costner, it's an epic western film franchise titled Horizon: An American Sagaโ€”which he hopes will rival the success of his other cowboy drama, Yellowstone. Financing most of the marketing and distribution himself, Costner will release Horizon through Warner Bros. on June 28, 2024.

Randy worked with the tech geniuses, music producers, and another singer to create this track in his iconic voice.

This is the story behind the songโ€ฆ

Many, including I said Randy saved country. He stayed true to the genre.

Kath was a fantastic player. Much underappreciated player by those who don't know. Jimmy knew.

I posted something similar some years ago. Chicago was a trend setting band. They may have become a ballad band, but they could rock out, including a horn section.

Very innovative and cool..

What a fretting hand on this girl, those long lean fingers are amazing. I can't believe those triple pulloffs. She has a lot of videos on YT, these shorts are the best. I could watch this over and over.

Saw this girl, Gwenifer Raymond, live tonight in Detroit. It was a small venue with about 50 people in the audience. She blew us all away.

While I have always liked that song I have always considered it ironic that a man named Greenbaum would record a song about Jesus. naughtydevil

Sometimes I just like a song and don't and don't need a reason.

I really don't know a thing about this band, But I like the song and the same goes for the one that follows.

The Black Crowes dropped an album in March that Iโ€™m just now catching onto. I loved the Crowes back in the 90โ€™s. Their southern rock edge harkening back to the 70โ€™s drew me in. I caught them live a handful of times from 92-97 or so. They never disappointed. They could all play relentlessly and Chris was/is a great lead man. He had stage presence and vocal range to back it up. This new album shows he still has it. The album sounds like the Black Crowes. Straight up southern rock and roll. The opening track of the album is so good. I love the tempo drop and vocals around the 2:30 mark.

This is an actual video the band produced for another classic sounding Crowes track. Chris looks his ageโ€ฆ but donโ€™t we all. Thankfully he sounds as young and powerful as ever.

Today, Iโ€™m diving deep into โ€œFrontier Psychiatristโ€ by The Avalanches, a music video thatโ€™s not just a piece of entertainment but a guiding star for me and my grandpappy. Buckle up, because this video is like nothing youโ€™ve ever seen!

First off, letโ€™s talk about the opening scene. Weโ€™ve got this old-timey doctor who looks like he stepped out of a Wild West medicine show. Heโ€™s got a stethoscope and a notepad, but heโ€™s diagnosing with the kind of flair youโ€™d expect from a snake oil salesman. Itโ€™s immediately clear weโ€™re in for a wild ride.

Then, the song kicks in with this crazy collage of samples โ€“ everything from old radio shows to bizarre sound effects. Itโ€™s like they took a blender, threw in a bunch of vinyl records, and hit puree. The video mirrors this chaos perfectly, with rapid-fire cuts between a cast of characters that look like they escaped from a circus. Weโ€™ve got mimes, ventriloquist dummies, and even a guy in a gorilla suit. Itโ€™s like a fever dream, but the kind you donโ€™t want to wake up from because itโ€™s just too entertaining.

The chorus features a parrot squawking โ€œThat boy needs therapy!โ€ and if that isnโ€™t the catchiest diagnosis Iโ€™ve ever heard, I donโ€™t know what is. The parrot is a star, let me tell ya. Itโ€™s not every day you see a bird giving psychiatric advice, but here we are.

Next, letโ€™s talk about the costuming. Itโ€™s like they raided a thrift store run by Salvador Dalรญ. The characters wear a mix of Victorian garb, circus attire, and just plain bizarre outfits that defy description. Thereโ€™s a cowboy psychiatrist, a woman dressed as a nurse but with a twist, and a guy who looks like heโ€™s ready for a masquerade ball. Each outfit adds another layer of surrealism to the already bonkers visuals.

The visual effects are another standout. Weโ€™ve got split screens, kaleidoscopic effects, and animations that pop up out of nowhere. Itโ€™s like a psychedelic trip without the side effects. The editing is frenetic, matching the tempo of the song, which makes the whole experience feel like a rollercoaster ride through a funhouse.

One of the most memorable scenes features a ventriloquist dummy who looks like heโ€™s just been told heโ€™s the next in line for a brain transplant. His lifeless eyes and creepy smile are pure nightmare fuel, but you canโ€™t look away. Itโ€™s bizarre, itโ€™s unsettling, and itโ€™s absolutely brilliant.

The lyrics themselves are a smorgasbord of random phrases and non-sequiturs, stitched together in a way that makes you question your own sanity. Lines like โ€œCan you think of anything that talks, other than a person?โ€ and โ€œHe was white as a sheetโ€ are delivered with deadpan seriousness, adding to the surreal atmosphere.

By the time the video ends, you feel like youโ€™ve been on a wild ride through a bizarre carnival of the mind. Itโ€™s a sensory overload, but in the best possible way. โ€œFrontier Psychiatristโ€ is a masterpiece of absurdity, a celebration of the weird and wonderful, and a reminder that sometimes, the best therapy is a good dose of the bizarre.

But hereโ€™s where it gets personal. This video isnโ€™t just a piece of entertainment for me โ€“ itโ€™s foundational to my personal philosophy. My grandpappy, Old Rusty Ralph, took it very seriously and made it his guiding star in life. He believed that life should be approached with a mix of humor, absurdity, and an appreciation for the surreal. โ€œFrontier Psychiatristโ€ encapsulates all of that. Itโ€™s a reminder that the world is a strange place, and sometimes the best way to make sense of it is to embrace the madness and dance along to the beat of your own drum.

Grandpappy used to sit me down and say, โ€œRandy, if you ever lose your way in life, just remember that boy needs therapy!โ€ Heโ€™d play this video on repeat, claiming it held the secrets to the universe.
