I don't think I've ever been referred to as a Trump lover, but I was referred to as a GOPer.

My issue is that I don't know what we do. I've been harder on Republicans in the current era because I really do see Trump as a grave threat, so I will admit to him being the squeaky wheel that gets a lot of attention, especially since he's running for President this year. I have also (recently mind you) lent my criticism of the Democrats. Usually if there is an issue like this, though, the idea is to look for a better alternative. I definitely don't think the answer should be "But Trump!" when there is merited criticism, and that is definitely the reflex of some, but in the big picture, what can we really do? Do I want the border to be fixed? Yeah, I obviously do...but I'm also not willing to vote somebody in who I think will make other things 10x worse.

We have real issues that need addressing, but when I tune into Congress, I see things like Jerry Springer fights about fake eyelashes and butch bodies, and then a circle you-know-what about trying to jail Fauci and making it a big deal to call him "Mr. Fauci." This is where the energy of our politicians is. I honestly don't know how to change that because the trenches are dug.

That's the real dilemma.

If you are referring to the troll comment I mentioned about you, I did not intend it to be anything personal, just more about how we rib each other. You should hopefully know by now that I respect your view points, despite the fact you are always 100% wrong (see?).

When it comes to your comments about "screaming, raving, lunatic, mad whack" there are definitely those elements among some on the left, but can you not see how that could be said of the right as well? This isn't a whatabout either. Just a description of our current environment and how very little solution-focused it has become vs finger-pointing. And if you can't see that, then maybe you should take off those fake eyelashes because they're too big. They won't help make that butch body of yours look any better.

But getting down to platforms, I am actually more on the pro-life side with how RvW was decided, and believe it should be a state issue, but I don't want to go too far down that rabbit hole since it can really open up a can of worms. I don't agree with the way SCOTUS was stacked to achieve that, though. Environmentally, yes I do think Trump is worse in that regard. Platform wise, I develop my own sense of what I think each issue should be, not what a party tells me it should be. If I wrapped up all my platforms, I would probably be considered to be an "Eisenhower Republican."

Honestly, though, my problems with him are at the 30,000 foot level in terms of the survivability of our Democracy and his impulsive nature to aggrandize himself, his influence, and power above all else at unprecedented and very alarming levels, on par with many nefarious figures seen throughout history. For the record, that's all I want to say about Trump for the purposes of this thread. The last few posts made it clear that he shouldn't be the focal point, and I respect that. For the record, it was you who asked me.

You seem to promote a monarchy where the king simply hands down orders. Currently asylum hearings are backed up for years because there aren't enough immigration judges to handle the cases. So who has the power to fund more immigration judges? More immigrants have been heading to the border and crossing over than ever before without the funding to hire more border patrol agents. Who is the only government body that can approve funding that?

So rather than hold congress accountable to totally reform immigration which is no doubt their duty, you complain and blame a president who has no power to either write immigration laws nor supply the funding to fix it. It seems you promote putting a band aid on s bullet wound and never actually fix it.

The sad part is that some Republicans even said the part they are supposed to keep quiet out loud. They plainly stated why they refused to vote for the immigration bill. They said it was because they didn't want to help Biden. That's the excuse they have for refusing to do their job. But it seems as if many of you didn't get the memo. Maybe you should have been paying closer attention?

If you would actually bother to look at what really happened, you would see that much of what these trump policies consisted of were Covid emergency measures. Due to the deadly strains of Covid in the beginning. That's the ONLY thing that gave him the power to do so. How long do you think that premise would hold water? Mind you this was a conservative led SCOTUS with three trump appointed judges that overturned this policy. It's very similar to the order Biden just made. So I think it's realistic that the SCOTUS will overturn this order as well. And you know why? Because it's not consistent with the current immigration laws that congress refuses to fix and a president lacks the power to rewrite laws.

the SCOTUS itself determined you can no longer use emergency Covid orders which is the exact reason trump was allowed to do so at the time. But don't allow facts to get in your way.
