That isn't a lie. They are allowed to stay in the U.S. until their asylum hearing. The average waiting time currently for an immigration hearing is over four years. There is no place to "detain millions of immigrants". Therefore you must release them. Why are you telling the lie that we have that ability to detain millions of people? If you have no place to detain millions of immigrants and by law they're allowed to stay in the country, what other choice is there but to release them?

If I'm telling a lie here please explain the alternative to releasing them.

They're not stupid enough to claim we have some way of keeping millions of people in detention. Our entire nations prison system currently hold approximately 2 million people. It would take facilities five times larger than our prison system to hold those immigrants. But people say some really stupid things when their feelings override their brains.

So - we have one set of data. It's from 2012-1018.

It shows undocumented immigrants are WAYYYYY less,by a factor of more than 100% (or 50% depending on how you want to look at it), to commit crimes than US citizens. It's the only data I can find.

If you want to dismiss it because it's inconvenient - go ahead and provide me data that shows this trend is different in 2024.

As to people being arrested and subsequently deported being excluded from this data - You'll have to show me something concrete on that too. The data represents the arrests made, not the prosecutions and whether or not the individuals were deported or treated differently - only the number of arrests.

Feeble would be trying to dismiss something 'just because' and then making a wild claim that the data doesn't include instances because they were deported. To the best of my knowledge some illegals/undocumented can be deported without a court hearing, but perpetrators of a crime are still actually booked and arrested whether they are going to be deported or not.

It's called deporting. Send their asses beck where they came from. Can you understand it is ILLEGAL, a FEDERAL CRIME, for them to set foot in our country.

It seems you are trying to conflate the results with the actions taken to achieve those results. Those two things are not the same. But that's your only choice right now isn't it?

I actually applaud the results. I don't support any president overruling laws through executive orders. No matter the president, no matter the party. One would have hoped that an immigration deal that included the exact action biden took to drive those numbers lower than trump's numbers would have been something republicans in congress should have approved of. But they refused to. That's what valuing politics over your country looks like.

Uh, that's a huge lie. Biden enacted "return to mexico lite". The bipartisan policy said we should spend billions in infrastructure (overnight, seemingly with a magic wand, those are popular with this admin) to process people quicker. In no way, shape or form did it turn people away at the border without processing them... but that's exactly what we are doing today and why those numbers are lower.

In case you missed it, only after a certain number of people cross the border each day do they get sent back now. Is that what you mean by "return to mexico lite"? Because there still isn't a blanket policy to return everyone who crosses the border back to Mexico. The bipartisan bill was a comprehensive immigration bill negotiated by both parties. It contained many policies within it. That requires the art of compromise. Something lost by you and others in your "I want it all or you end up with nothing!" world. I have no idea how you arrive at your opinion when a republican who was a part of the negotiation. I have no idea when looking at this bill you can say it wasn't comprehensive immigration reform. Those allegations are simply false. It addressed everything from hiring more immigration judges to make the time it takes for asylum cases to be heard. It also toughened asylum laws which means far less would be eligible for asylum when they reached their hearing. As of now the law allows anyone who has applied for asylum to stay here until they have a hearing which often times can take several years. Only 30% of asylum seekers get approval. That means it would expedite 70% of them getting out of the country much faster. And a decrease in the number of people that qualify for asylum. It funded more border agents and better technology to protect the border.


Facts certainly do matter. You do realize this is exactly what biden is doing now which has resulted in the immigration numbers being lower than when trump left office, right?

However, this law would have codified the stupidity of catch and release. We have enough stupidity going on so no need to add more. Let’s get some real reform going. But to do that you need people on both sides who want our border controlled. We do not have that.
