I think Baltimore will win. Don't know why or how, just a hunch
But I want KC (slightly)

I definitely hate them more than the Steelers. The reason why is an easy one. I remember when Irsay deserted the fans of Baltimore by loading up those Mayflower moving trucks in the middle of the night. I remember how wrong their fans said that was and how so many fans of other teams supported them. How they said nobody should be able to steal their team that way. Then 15 years later they sold out a new stadium and welcomed stealing our team as their own. I'll never forget that.

Sadly, both teams can't lose.
I think I'd give Baltimore a better chance if Roman was still their OC. That assumes that Henry is still capable of 4 quarters of bludgeoning.
I think I actually favor KC because of the D. Spagnolo has been there for awhile and has had those guys playing well. Chris Jones is probably the best DT in football with Donald's retirement.
Baltimore has a new, unproven DC in Zach Orr. Geno Stone led them in INTs last year, but is now with the Bengals. Madubuike led them in sacks, but KC's interior OL is good, and Clowney and Van Noy were 2nd and 3rd in sacks. Clowney's gone and I have doubts about Van Noy maintaining that level of success.
But it's a new year and we'll see.
Maybe Todd Monken can lean on the running game while the D finds its legs. Baltimore has some size up front.
Will be interesting to see if Steele gets some run for KC.

Is it just me or does it seem like when a Brown leaves the game for a concussion not only does he not come back but will miss several games. When I’m watching other teams guys leave all the time to get checked for concussions when they clearly have whacked their head in some form or fashion, yet are cleared to come back in the game.

That was an ending for the ages. Truly is a game of inches.
Lamar looked like garbage, except on runs, until their last TD (the one not called back). I'm sure they'll work out the kinks though. It seems like they are still trying to find a way for him and Henry to fully gel. At times, Henry looked like garbage, and at other times, he looked like his old self. Despite his size, he seems to be a guy who needs to get outside the tackles. Like a diesel engine. Takes a while to get going, but once he gets going, he is truly a load.

one thing about Lamar ... I'm not sure that he will hold up if he's running THAT much. He was getting crushed and ran for 120 yards lol

I don't remember him taking too many huge hits, but I probably missed a few plays. He's pretty adept at avoiding major contact.
That being said, it's his seventh year in the league. It won't be getting much easier for him on that front.
I will say that one thing that does not bode very well for him is that he's on my fantasy team. Kiss of death.

I was reading Jackson's comments after the game on ESPN's site. He said he still says it was a touchdown and the refs were wrong. Not sure what he was looking at. It was so close but clearly out. Likely seemed to think the refs call on the field was "final" and they will just have to live with the overturned call. Roquan Smith said the replay wasn't clear enough to overturn the call.
I am guessing if they were on the other end they would have wanted it overturned.

yeah, they were wrong haha. It was clearly out of bounds.
The Ravens are a really good team who has had some bad play/breaks in big games.
They will surely be a division-type winner for as long as Harbaugh/Lamar are there and healthy

I do have to say it took me by surprise to learn that Harbaugh was the second oldest coach in the NFL.

One other thing - the Refs seemed to be really hot on those illegal formation calls toward the beginning of the game. Harbaugh eventually yelled at them that they weren't calling it fairly for both sides. As much as I hate them, I think he was right. I saw several times where the Chiefs had their tackles back a step and there was no call. I also saw several times later where the Ravens still had the illegal formation, but it was almost as if the Refs had just turned a blind eye to it for both teams.

good game overall, i think there will be a few weeks of adjustment as the refs settle in on how they are going to call things. I predict much of the same in our game. Just hope it doesn't happen in a way that affects outcome. Both offenses were kinda meh given their expectations, but there was a enough chunk plays to make it exciting. I swear both PM and LJ both live and die on the big play, like they'll have 5 or 6 meh or bad plays and then hit a 20 yard play. That will take its toll on a defense. I just hope we have a consistent day on offense since they haven't played a single snap yet

I thought it was a very good game! KC even last season went with the shorter passing game and not so much the long ball and that seems to be carrying over into this season so it was certainly no surprise to me. Lamar looked really lost trying to compete his longer passes. That was the knock on him earlier in his career but he seemed to have corrected that somewhat. Not sure if last night was an anomaly or a sign he's reverted back to that. Time will tell.
Jackson's main target last night didn't seem as though he was the target people would have considered most Likely going into the game.

I cannot fully put into words how disappointing it is that the whole 'TV blackout' concept seems to be moving over into the streaming services.

first time in a long time that I didn't turn on a primetime game - simply tired of subscribing, switching, finding, etc all of the different streaming services needed
it's exhausting frankly
But I saw Jordan Love may be injured which would be a bummer

Same. I wonder what the viewer numbers were like for the game? My hope is they were generally poor as compared to other primetime games. Hopefully way down. Enough is enough. As fans we need to choke out this single game paywall nonsense by not buying in.

Yep to both of those posts.
I'm so tired of it that I have a very low threshold for caring anymore. Same thing with searching for anything in Google's vast wasteland of incoherent, counter-intuitive search results. I have about 15 seconds before I say screw it and move on.
I assumed Thursday's game was on Amazon -- it was not. Last night I learned it was on Peacock, was pretty sure I was still subscribed but took more solace in denying them two more eyeballs.

My guess is the game did big numbers in the ratings. I also assume, that if anyone thinks it's bad now, exclusive rights streaming is going to become more and more prevalent.
From The Athletic...
Why Eagles vs. Packers in Brazil is a Peacock exclusive NFL game By Jenna West Sep 6, 2024
In a twist for fans, January’s AFC wild-card matchup between the Miami Dolphins and eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs was only available via streaming — on Peacock. Although people were first confused about why they couldn’t watch the game on TV, it proved a success for Peacock with a ratings bonanza.
So regardless of how inconvenient fans — and players alike — consider the new broadcasting push, streaming is here to stay. Ready your wallets.
Following last season’s success, Peacock and the NFL are intertwined again this season. The streaming-only slate kicks off with Friday’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers in São Paulo, the first international game of 2024. It also marks the NFL’s first game in Brazil.
Why are games on Peacock?
NBC started streaming “Sunday Night Football” online in 2008, and they were the first NFL partner in the U.S. to stream the Super Bowl (in 2012). Peacock became a natural fit for NBC as companies aim to make streamers profitable while navigating the treacherous transition from linear TV to digital. To get more signups, streamers need more high-quality, exclusive content.
Peacock’s first exclusive NFL game featured the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 23, 2023. It averaged 7.3 million viewers and peaked at an average of 8.4 million.
The Chiefs-Dolphins playoff game turned out to be a massive viewership success. Nielsen custom fast national data showed 23 million viewers watched across Peacock, NBC stations in Miami and Kansas City and on mobile with NFL+.
How many games will be on Peacock this season?
Friday’s matchup in Brazil is the only Peacock exclusive of the regular season. The game, which kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET, will also be broadcast on NBC in Green Bay and Philadelphia, and on mobile devices with NFL+.
Peacock will stream 22 regular-season games total, including 18 “Sunday Night Football” games, a Thanksgiving night game between the Dolphins and Packers and a Week 16 game between the Chiefs and Houston Texans on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Will there be a streaming-only playoff game this season?
Yes — but via Amazon Prime Video.
A year after Peacock broadcast a wild-card game, Amazon gets its turn in 2025. Amazon Prime Video will also be the exclusive home of “Thursday Night Football” beginning in Week 2 and will broadcast the Black Friday game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Chiefs on Nov. 29.
Are any other games exclusive to streamers?
Netflix and ESPN+ will also have their moment as exclusive home of an NFL game.
In Week 7, when the NFL plays two games on Monday night, one — the Los Angeles Chargers against the Arizona Cardinals — will only air on ESPN+.
Netflix, meanwhile, landed two Christmas Day games. The Chiefs will play the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET, while the Ravens and Texans begin at 4:30 p.m. ET.

I have my satellite dish and Bell Canada network subscription. I don’t stream anything, just regular old school flat screen. I pay about $200 a year for Sunday Ticket and get all the games.
Last nights game was on TSN in Canada, which is included in my satellite monthly payment. I keep things simple.

Packers-Eagles solid draw for Peacock by Jon Lewis 1 min ago Peacock generated a more-than-respectable audience for its Friday night NFL exclusive from Brazil. Friday’s Packers-Eagles NFL International Series game from Brazil averaged 14.2 million viewers across Peacock and local NBC affiliates in Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Green Bay, per Nielsen fast-nationals and Adobe Analytics — nearly doubling the previous regular season exclusive on Peacock, Bills-Chargers on a Saturday night last December (7.3M). The Eagles’ win, which peaked with 15.3 million viewers during the 9:30 PM ET quarter-hour, was the most-watched Friday night television program since April — when ESPN averaged 14.4 million for Iowa-UConn in the NCAA Women’s Final Four. Given the unusual circumstances — a rare Friday night game (the first on the opening weekend of play since 1960) in an international setting that aired exclusively on a streaming service — there is little relevant context for the game’s performance. There is no precedent for a standalone Friday night game in Week 1, an International Series game in Week 1 or a streaming-exclusive game in Week 1. Among streaming-exclusive NFL games, it ranks fourth all-time behind two of last season’s Thursday Night Football games on Amazon Prime (Seahawks-Cowboys: 15.26M; Vikings-Eagles: 15.05M) and Peacock’s Dolphins-Chiefs Wild Card playoff game in January (23M). The NFL was only able to schedule a Friday night game in Week 1 because of a quirk in the calendar. Under the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, the league is barred from scheduling Friday night games from the second Friday of September through the second Saturday of December. Due to the early Labor Day this year, Week 1 of the season coincided with the first Friday of the month. With Labor Day on its earliest possible date next year (September 1), the NFL will be able to schedule another Friday night game for Week 1 next season — barring a highly unlikely change to the schedule, which has begun the Thursday after Labor Day in every season dating back to 2002. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2024/09/packers-eagles-ratings-peacock-brazil/

In Scandinavia I pay USD 150+/month to get almost everything. Its not worth it but Im old and I don't care any longer. NFL. NHL. NBA. Baseboll. MMA. Boxing. NASCAR. Indy 500. Formula 1. Diamond League Premier League. Serie A. La Liga. Bundeliga. Champions League. Copa America. European League. WC. EC. Olympics Netflix Prime HBO Apple Disney and Nature, Talk shows, Science, Family and bla bla channels YouTube is my favorite that I prefer commercial free ..and a ton of local and other meaningless channels nobody cares about I mostly watch my favorite teams in the Premier League, Champion League, NFL (The Browns and RedZone with Scott on the second screen), Formula 1, Indy, Copa and the rest of the daily sports shows I watch on YouTube. The few time I don't watch sports its Yellowstone or similar. What a poor life

Ari Meirov @MySportsUpdate · 1m It's a driving/traffic violation for Tyreek Hill, per @AdamSchefter , but the expectation is he'll still play today vs. the #Jaguars.
Bonkers.

The Colts QB made an absolutely unbelievable stunt against the Texans a few minutes ago.
He slips, comes up a little bit wobbling and one blink of an eye before getting hit he throws the ball 55-60 yards to Richardson (I believe) who convert a great pass it into an easy TD. I guess it will be one of the highlights in the sports shows on Monday.

Not saying he’s not good but I’ve maintained that Burrow is overrated.
I have yet to change my mind.

I feel bad for Falcons fans. They are genuinely nice people (unlike Steelers fans) and every year the Falcons let them down.

Despite the homer gushing in the booth, their issues looked real. I think they are better than they played, but this rabid support is ignoring some obvious fails. Glad that announcer saw them get schooled.

I hold the same opinion. Might phrase it differently: I think he is under-supported by his receivers often and regularly. Chase can be amazing, but not always, especially when you need him. JMO

Steelers offense sucks. They’re not going anywhere this year. However, neither are we as our offense sucks just as bad.

I laughed at Dan Campbell’s initial press conference where he said “we’ll bite a kneecap off.”
Hat tip to the Lions. They have become a serious franchise.
