I think that if there had been 2 attempts on Kamala/Biden's life - and someone said this, then the "Left" would be outraged and the "right" would be calling them snowflakes and libtards.

I think with the 2 attempts on Trump then the "right" will try to make this a huge issue and the "left" will downplay it.

In today's political climate it was a seriously stupid - beyond stupid - choice of words. In any other western world and 10+ years ago everyone would have accepted the meaning intended by the speaker (which is not to assassinate Trump) but here we are.

I actually don't disagree with you. The climate is hot, very hot and she chose these words. This was not off the cuff, this was planned and likely rehearsed, even if informally. A few years ago people would scream tone deaf about everything, and this certainly qualifies, which is why it is in the Ccuckoo thread, cause it was cuckoo.

One thing I find puzzling is when I've seen trump supporters comment on these attempts they tend to say "they are trying to kill him."

I never got close enough to trump to even see him, I had no idea he was even there

This is what I take from the article:

The US has foreign enemies/malign admins who wish to do harm to the US in any way they can.
It is unacceptable to allow any of these enemies to get away with efforts such as these.
Our politicians should be protected at all costs against this sort of threat, and every effort should be taken to minimize/neutralize such actions.

It's really gotten hard to explain much to anyone these days. And I'm certainly not meaning this to reference you. But people have gotten so entrenched in their beliefs that they will form an opinion based on no facts at all. They just decide they "feel some kind of way" about something and nothing else matters to them. It's not relegated to the right or the left. It's gotten far more widespread these days in both directions.

And while I know you won't like this portion of my post, when it is in reference to trump, while I still disagree with basing your opinions on non founded facts, his consistent lying and election lies for four years now makes it more understandable to me why people would not trust things such as this. I think not looking at the facts and the people involved before forming an opinion is still silly any way you look at it. But sometimes I get the why of it.

It's no different than my belief that stealing is wrong by any measure. Yet when someone is starving and steals some food I get it. I understand why their circumstances dictate they would be motivated to do the wrong thing. That doesn't mean that I think stealing is less wrong. It simply means I understand why they stole.
