He's pretty much a one dimensional tech entrepreneur who happens to think he will succeed in the other realms. So far, it's not going well for him.
Even in the tech realm, I have to admit that I will be one and done with the Tesla, and it (mostly) doesn't really have to do with him. So many of the other brands are catching up or IMO eclipsing him. He promised to achieve self drive and that has failed time and again, to the point where I'm wondering when I'll get something in the mail asking if I want to join a class action.
That Cadillac Lyriq is looking pretty good....

Well, I guess now (or next year) will be the time where we'll see how much of that actually will be introduced into legislation. Assuming the House goes red, theoretically, they'd have 2 years minimum to try and get something passed, although there is the filibuster. Hopefully whoever McConnell's heir is will see fit to leave it in place. I very much hope they leave the filibuster in place. I would like to see them roll back what was done by Reid as well, but much like taxes, once the their hands on it it won't be going away. It seems odd for me to say this, but I would actually trust McConnell to leave it in place. He won't be in charge though, not only because of age, but because I think he actually abhors Trump more than some Democrats and didn't want the possibility of working with him. With that being said, it seems like his successors want to widely depart from his leadership style. I don't think they will get rid of it because of the slippery slope like you mentioned, but I can't say my confidence in that is over 51%. unless something crazy happens, i dunno if mitch will even be the senate majority leader. i could see someone like Rick Scott winning the leadership position cause he WILL do what trump wants and get rid of the filibuster. there were dudes in place that at least showed some sort of principle when trump was in office. thats not gonna exist. trump will get yes men in every position he can.

I am against eliminating the filibuster. Plus, I don't think it will be necessary. I don't see the Dems holding as a solid block. It will fall apart just as the blue wall fell apart.
I see a whole lot of fear in here. Maybe i should pass out some legos you folks can put together. Maybe roasting up some smores would smooth the mood?

People tend to come together when facing what they see as a a common enemy. I don't think this will prove any different. Each side no longer considers this as a two party system that should work together for the good of the people. They see it as facing an adversary in some type of mortal conflict.

McConnell? Did someone say McConnel? McConnell will step down as the Senate Republican leader in November after a record run in the job Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history who maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November. McConnell, who turned 82 last week, announced his decision Wednesday in the well of the Senate, the chamber where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front row seat afforded the party leaders. “One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter,” he said. “So I stand before you today ... to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.” His decision punctuates a powerful ideological transition underway in the Republican Party, from Ronald Reagan’s brand of traditional conservatism and strong international alliances, to the fiery, often isolationist populism of former President Donald Trump. https://apnews.com/article/mitch-mc...ng-down-ba478d570a4561aa7baf91a204d7e366It's a much longer article but this is the part that's pertinent to the discussion. Did he change his mind since then and I missed it?

AND trump is gonna pick the next 2 SC judges.

The press too has been described that way with suggestions they should all be silenced by revoking their licenses. Which all sounds very familiar for anyone who has followed history.

Yes, using politics to block judge appointments is something we've seen before. At every level. At least from one side.

Trump is busy today picking trash to man America’s top spots. ‘Murica’! Can’t wait to laugh in your faces for four years. And dumbass peaceful dems think they’ll beat Trump in court on his insane agenda. They better work on plan B and strap up. I don’t want violence or civil war, I just don’t want jackbooted thugery poppin’ off with my side being ill prepared.
And like most dems, I don’t trust any republican for anything. I wouldn’t want trump picking up my trash, let alone running my country. But like everything else in life, this too will pass, and decent people will pick up the pieces and try to rebuild. I’d rather they let it all burn. This country doesn’t deserve decent leaders. They deserve what they have coming their way in spades.
Trump, I predict, will crash the economy within 2 years. He is an absolute idiot that thinks the economy is great if stocks are up… Completely disenfranchising working class voters and poor voters who don’t have a penny in stocks. He doesn’t want wages higher, because his corporate oligarch buddies don’t want to pay more for human help. They’ll spend millions and millions automating away your jobs though, and it’s coming.
Trump’s admin will fail, naturally, because Trump always fails in the end. The fluke election results powered by those who will throw out whoever the incumbent party was, out of ignorance on the actual state of the economy, will be your problem in for years. Embrace Biden’s low inflation numbers and your dollars buying power now, because in a few short months, it’s all going the way of Roe. Mass deportations will cause food to skyrocket. Inaction against the greed of corps will continue to drive housing up, while Trump will do nothing to hinder those profit machines.
And in four years this country will be ready for the adults to take the reins again, begging to be saved from Trump and MAGA.

Your predictions have been..............well, just wrong would be the way to put it politely.
Go back and read your incessant and constant predictions about this election. Your predictions mean less than squat.

The kind that don’t make you stupid enough to vote for scum.
And yes, prices went up and didn’t go back down proportionally. It’s called corporate price gouging and Trump will do absolutely nothing about it. And American grown produce will triple when he deports the workers. If you think that inflation was bad, you’re not prepared for what you have wished for… time will tell.

I'm curious to see how he implements RFK Jr and Musk into political office. He hated Musk and then loved him because Musk sucked up to him. He seemed to promise them roles for their endorsements. I totally agree with you in terms of RFK Jr. but that was to win over the RFK Jr. voting block. When he got RFK Jr. he also got his voters. In the case of Musk I disagree with you. Sure the endorsement of Musk was what he wanted because Musk has so many followers on social media. But even more importantly it was that 100 million dollars that came along with Musk. Musk bought and paid for his right to have a say. That used to be illegal in politics but we both know that rules and laws no longer apply. Trumps history has always been, he's friends/friendly with anyone when they are useful.. Once they are no longer useful, he casts them aside. I expect that won't change.

Since a bunch of you didn't look at this before the election-you might as well see what you bought Trump's MAGA allies gloat Project 2025 "is the agenda" President-elect Trump's MAGA allies wasted little time after his election win before openly celebrating that the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 will set the agenda for his administration. Why it matters: Trump repeatedly tried to distance himself from Project 2025 during the campaign, even going so far as claiming he knew nothing about it, despite the fact that it was written by many of his close allies. Meanwhile, Democrats pointed to the Heritage Foundation's 900-page wishlist as proof that a second Trump term would upend American life and be a threat to democracy. Driving the news: Less than 24 hours after Trump's victory, his allies and other right-wing commentators began to brag about implementing the radical policy agenda. "Now that the election is over I think we can finally say that yeah actually Project 2025 is the agenda. Lol," Matt Walsh, a right-wing podcast host, wrote on X Wednesday. Ex-Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon praised Walsh and amplified his post during his "War Room" podcast Wednesday, telling his staff to promote Walsh's comment on social media. Right-wing influencer Benny Johnson also chimed in on X on Wednesday: "It is my honor to inform you all that Project 2025 was real the whole time," he wrote. Bo French, a Texas GOP official who came under fire recently for using slurs to describe gay people and people with disabilities, wrote on X Wednesday: "So can we admit now that we are going to implement Project 2025?" State of play: Project 2025 outlines a plan to greatly expand the power of the executive branch and allow the president to override checks that typically would limit his power. It also includes recommendations for dissolving the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), shrinking the social safety net, ending student debt relief, deporting immigrants and aggressively curtailing abortion protections. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...0908802c8445ab89a52890dc56a5d6&ei=21

I won’t engage you anymore after this, but I do have to say I’d like to frame this post as the most ironic post in DT history. There's a dearth of posts that make this choice a difficult one but honestly cant disagree with your choice. If it wasn't so tragic and indicative of the whole nation it'd be funny.

Do you mean like trying to compare women's abortion right to gas stoves and combustion engines? I simply pointed out that when Biden was running all of you claimed he was unfit. When he was replaced on the ballot you claimed he was unfairly removed. Either way you cried foul. That's showing how you moved the goal posts. But I see how you may find that painful to admit.

Do you mean like Obama, Pelosi, + discarding Joe Biden? That's hilarious when you hear people that claimed Biden wasn't fit to run for re-election say this. So here is how it works. Run Biden? "He isn't fit for office!" Replace Biden? "Look how you treated Biden!" Once again we see the "heads I win, tails you lose" logic of trumpians. It is truly remarkable how well and how often you manage to move goalposts AND create strawmen in the same post. You simply do not get the pointS - with an S.

You know most MAGA voters knew Project 2025 was real… I love seeing these ass monkey talking heads on the right gloat that they got away with the lying. All the rules are out the window, from now on Dems need to wisen up.

MAGA won’t like it, but Rick Scott isn’t the leader and the filibuster remains in place, for now.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

That's because it was a secret vote. They could vote for who they thought was best for the job instead of the way they spinelessly vote when trump can see how they voted.
