That's really weird. I looked up something earlier about Gene Kelly, and the movie Xanadu came up. This song was on the soundtrack.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Two stories to this one.

My wife is a cowgirl....born in Idaho. Yep, I married one of the 25 women from Idaho. She can't only ride a horse, but she can really ride a horse, like barrel racing stuff. I call her " my Idaho" Some of you will get it, some won't until a day later

The second is the female backup singer on the vid is Marty Slayton. Marty toured with George for maybe 15 years or more. To make a long story short, my "Idaho" and Marty and her husband ended up eating dinner at a nice Nashville restaurant bar top. We all hit it off, spent about 4 hours there and marty hooked up us with stage right seating.....on stage for a Strait concert later the next week.

Yes, I lead a Blessed life. How else do you factor in the odds of that happening?

I won't get into the back story but George Strait is one of the, if not the greatest country artists of all time.

No doubt. I think Merel Haggard is at the top, but that is just me, George is at the top of anybody's list that likes country music.

He isn't called King George without reason.

Re: Music Thread #.... Oh hell, Iost count.

LMAO Pit ! That's true. I love this thread and I lost memory of all the great bands and artists that get posted on here.

From bands to individual names, it's great to go back in time or enjoy present artists.

One hit wonders were also a blast.

I love all kinds of music, as most of us who come to this thread do.

I wish I could have found the Guitar Thread.

That said- I appreciated the "Rainbow Shreds" segment of this thread. Fast guys are always fun- even if something like this impresses me more.

This guy's action must be about 1 mm, since his entire approach to playing the guitar is hammer-on... and he barely taps the strings.
He plays two guitars simultaneously, like a pianist- with touch, time, velocity, sustain...
Guitar Bros: imagine playing a solo in your right hand, while comping chords in your left. No finger picking/no plectrum. Two separate mind sets melded together, in Real Time.

Take in his amazing two-hand approach.
In this joint, he's playing an up-tempo version of the Jazz classic/standard, "Autumn Leaves."

I've been a fan of this "kid" since his debut album.
Ladies and gents: Stanley Jordan.

That's amazing! I love all styles of guitarists. Different styles for different moods. Music is its own language and it speaks to you in different tones and with different messages. You can always find the message you're looking for with a guitarist.

I still have the Guitar Player magazine with him on the cover. Summer 1985.

He is a wicked, wicked talent. Amazing.

There's a song I haven't heard in a long time.

Thanks to Clem. He kicked off one of my jazz binge sessions.

For those like me who love music but don't play an instrument. We all fantasize about who we would like to play like.

We all have our favorites. I love watching Stevie Ray play guitar.

But if I could sound like someone Lester Young gets to me. His breathy, smooth style is so warm. He plays like he is serenading your ears.

I just get his "feel."

Poetry with six strings and a hunk of wood.

If you take a deep dive into the meanings between the words to Star Spangled Banner, and his interpretation through his guitar, and consider the Vietnam War raging at the time, it’s so damn thoughtful and creative.

About 10 years ago I walked into the local music store, saw a white Strat with a maple neck hanging on the wall and said “I want that.” without even playing it.
So I bought it.
I call her Angel, after a Hendrix tune.
