Insane comeback.

Historic.

I was pissed. When Naylor hit into the double play in the 9th. I shut it off.

I did not want to see the last out.

I turned it back on and the game was tied. What??

Then Fry came up.

What a moment.

That is why I love the game.

We are the obvious underdog.

$260 million versus $50 million.

That is not a misprint.

I have been directly involved in well over a thousand baseball games and a coach.

I have followed the game damn near my entire life.

The game last night was the most improbable outcome that I can remember.

Two dominate closers get beat.

Bottom of the 9th two outs nobody on. Two strikes. Down two.

I am still flying.

I’ve been replaying it in my head all morning. All the variables. I have been a part of very few games (little league 40+yrs ago) and coached very little (assisted with daughter’s softball… that counts right?😂) but I also can’t remember watching a game that was that wild in the last 3 innings. I’m hoping it’s the little kids of magic that carries them there the next 3 games. I live in the NYC area… I desperately neeeeeeed Cleveland to beat the yanks. Oh, how I hate Yankees fans.

Oddly, wife and I went on a golf cart ride last night, around 7. (yeah, it's something we do quite often - country folk and all - get to see deer, rabbits, a coyote or 2, etc, and just talk)

Got back, I dropped her off at the house and I went to my office. Did a few things, then went up. She was watching the game. I had checked the score on line before I went up to the house. Walked in and asked her if it was still tied? She looked at me like I was crazy. Then said "I TOLD you I was recording it"

So, it was C, 3-1 at the time. We saw the Yanks tie it, then go ahead. But we kept watching. And HOLY MOSES! What a game!!!

Baseball can create moments and heroes out of nowhere.

The Yankees are the better team. But that does not mean they will win.

We cannot pitch Clase against the Yankees again. They just hit him, for some reason.

Placement.
Way too many of his pitches have been out over the plate and mid thigh height.
Not sure how it was during the season because I don't get to see many games.

I don't understand why we pitched to Stanton.
1st base was open, sets of the double play to walk him and takes the bat out of his hands

Hard to figure and hard to swallow.

Clase dominates all year and bombs in the playoffs?

I don't get to watch the Guardians during the year unless they are on national TV.

But, during the year I read the box scores.

He has amazing stuff. Location has failed him in the Post Season.

I don't know. I am not saying this is the case, but some players just don't function under the brightest of lights.

That can happen.

I think when in a seven game series. Teams get good looks at pitchers. The pen gets used. You see these guys over a short period.

You know more of what to expect from them.

The pitchers have to adjust. They have to use different patterns. Throw pitches in different counts.

It appears that the Yankees are looking for pitches in certain counts. Credit to them.

Most relief pitchers are two pitch guys. That is part of the reason why they are bullpen pitchers.

It is always about adjusting.

Guards need Bibee to step up today ... he pitched very minimally last outing, so that's to his favor

Yanks need their "role" guys to continue to get on base ... Torres, Volpe, Rizzo

This was a bad decision by Vogt not to put Stanton. There were two instances of this in the game where he should have put the batter on.

I think that our bullpen just wore out in this series.

Wew definitely need to find another starting pitcher or 2 (and hopefully be able to re-sign Beiber) and maybe 1 more bat. (and re-sign Fry)

Time out. Did you seriously post this? SERIOUSLY?

C'mon man...

Brayan Rocchio pulled his best Tony Fernandez
Emmanuel Clase pulled his best Jose Mesa

But you aren't going to beat the Bankees when their top 3 hit 9 HR in 5 games. Not unless Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez and Jim Thome are walking onto the field - and maybe not even then. Their stars balled out. We got Jose, Josh "Beer League" Naylor and Lane Thomas.

The crap of it all is. The Yankees are a better team. An extra $200M gets you that most times. But in a short series, flukey things can happen and the best team doesn't always win. We had a shot and didn't capitalize.

Celebrate the fact that we over-achieved, that some non-super stars stepped up in critical spots (Fry, Big Christmas, Lane's grand salami, the bullpen and Bibee all year)....but we all know young teams get old quick. And past success doesn't guarantee future success. This group may never make another LCS.

Even as underdogs, we had our shot, and we peed down our leg. Just like we always do.

Bullpen success is notoriously fickle. Even more so following such a taxing season as this year. I wouldn't be shocked to see all of our "big 4" have really down and/or injured years next year.

Also, we're losing our cable TV revenue from the Bally deal now that MLB has taken over.

So any extra $ we made with hosting 5 playoff games is more than cancelled out by that lost revenue. Which means, don't expect a spending spree. In fact, any increase in payroll is unlikely.

I was saying this to my in-laws this weekend (they are big into baseball)...

To me, it looked like the Guardians and the Yankees are two teams playing almost two different games. You had the Guardians having to play perfect and pulling out all the stops just to hold with the Yankees, while all NY had to do was just wait until it's next multi-million dollar guy came up to the plate.

I saw on Twitter that Yankees 3 main guys (Judge, Soto, Stanton) make twice as much as the entire Guardians roster. That's stupid. Stupid rules make for a stupid game, IMO.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

until it changes, we won't win anything unless we catch lightning in a bottle or some of those big spending teams have a huge amount of injuries. Baseball sucks in that regards, they def. need a cap or some type of profit sharing that evens the playing field. the current one doesn't do squat to even the field

Sorry to be a contrarian, but the Dodgers are basically the Yankees of the west coast. There's no "good guy" in this series.

I completely agree with that. But I have a little less hate for the Dodgers as my brother's family is in LA

MLB Network has a special called "One of a Kind."

If you are a baseball fan it is very cool.

Greg Maddux is my favorite baseball player of all time. The show is about him.

I don't think that anyone will ever do what Maddux did. His list of accomplishments are off the rails.

He went seven years never missed a game. Averaged 240 innings with a sub 2:00 era.

He won 15 games for 17 straight seasons. He won 18 Gold Gloves the most for any player.

He won 355 games.

The show was cool because it was today with him and players he played with and against.

He was some kind of character.

When he played for Atlanta. I don't think I missed a start.

Greg understood the art of pitching and was a master at his craft. Greg was the Ace of a staff that had three # 1 starters.

Sounds like Fry is out 6-8 months until he can return as a DH again, 12 until he can catch from hot elbow injury. It's a paywall article on Cleveland.com so I can't read it.

That 1st highlight was impressive. He didn't even make good contact and the ball went to the fence. And he turned it into a standup triple. That tells me 2 things. 1, he is fast, 2, he took off running from the get go and didn't stand around to watch for a HR.

The 2nd HR was it scary hard

What's up with a hit by pitch being one of the highlights?

I was never impressed by Morgan. Think this could be a great trade in the long run
