That's fine. I don't think the numbers would be on your side. And yes, need will vary the draft board to a certain extent from team to team. But if there were any way to prove it, I bet as far as pure talent most teams GM's would be on board with the top 5 to 10 players to a huge extent. Well, I mean except AB that is.

j/c For those who were discussing Cousins this could end up having a direct impact on our draft...... Sources: Falcons expected to cut Kirk Cousins before $10M bonus due https://www.espn.co.uk/nfl/story/_/...-expected-cut-kirk-cousins-10m-bonus-due

As the season ends and the draft draws closer the more I think about it given all the factors currently.
My plan for the Browns best hope in this draft goes like this.
We end up with a top five pick. The higher the better.
We trade back to around fifteen or so. We take the best player on the Board. Best case is a pass rusher or OT.
I really like Nic Scourton DE from Texas A&M. Big dude 6'4" 285. He really gets after it. Love his skill set.
I don't know the OTs well other than their names Banks, Campbell.
My hope with the trade back is to land a late first or early second and then get Milroe.
Hard to say where Milroe will go at this point in time. It may take the first rounder. Then we pivot and go BPA with the next pick.
The goal is Milroe and an edge guy or OT. Jeanty is a guy I would consider however I don't know if he would be the best option for the Browns given their needs. Obviously we will need to draft a runner but we may be better served looking to get one later in the draft.
I'm kind of with you. Unfortunately, none of the "top" tackles do much for me. Banks gives me Wills vibes. Has the tools, but just don't see a ton of effort. Was looking forward to the A&M matchup, but he went out early so didn't get to see him against Scourton much really. But trade back-OT was the route I thought I wanted to go. Not sure I see the value there, either, though. Not sure about edge rushers, but don't/didn't see it as a huge need. Though with Myles' recent position maybe it is. I had thought McGuire had been coming on. Trade back looks like the play to me. Don't love any of the QBs. Probably try to gain something in 2026 and get a shot at a QB then. Contemplating if ballhawking safety is the play after the trade back. Might let us play press more (and finish pressures) if we had an eraser deep. Malaki Starks is a name I'm starting to dig into. Not sure how I feel about Milroe. Or how we would use him. Wouldn't hate it, and it makes some sense, but not sure what the offense would look like. Like Myles, I'd want to know the plan.

Depending on the outcomes of the Jax and Panthers games, we could pick up one or two spots in the draft order. That could put us at #5 or #6 with two weeks to go....

Panthers won in OT.
Most likely we will draft 5th or 6th.
Most likely the Giants and Raiders will draft quarterbacks one and two.
Titans and Jags have a game against each other still to play so one will have 4 wins.
Patriots have the Bills twice and the Chargers. They will end with 3 wins most likely.
We will be in a good position with many options.

Tankathon currently has us at 4th. They’re pretty good with being accurate and up to date. Going from 7th to 4th is a big deal. Now you’re really in potential top QB territory. But as luck would have it from everything I’ve read this is a dud year for QB’s. Still, on course for getting a top 5 player.

If we're in the top 5 I would trade down and see if we can get an extra #1 or 2. With that pick I would take a QB IF we thought he's got some potential. Sign Cousins when he is released. He's better than anything we have now, and KS and he can work together. I would sign another vet QB and keep DTR if we don't draft one. Then we take BPA at positions of the most need. JMO at this time.

Will have good options.
Gotta believe the Raiders and Giants take quarterbacks.
Hunter will go next. He wants to be a two way player.
We will have the chance to draft the first player at a number of positions.
Titans, Browns, Pats, Jags all have 3 wins.
Jags, Titans still have a game.
Trading back is a strong option.
In fact I don't think there is much difference in picks from one to fifteen. When you look at players ranked number one at their position. Need will drive some picks. We could look at CB, Safety, OG, Center, LB, RB as second pick options after a trade down and still land a number one at a position.
I am not sold on Sanders or Ward. So I don't care if they go one and two. Hunter is great but it is ok if we miss out on him. After those three it is wide open.

Looking at the draft order and the remaining schedule.
The Browns could end up with the first pick.
Astonishing.
I wonder what we would do?
I would be sick if we drafted Sanders or Ward. I don't see much difference and I don't see either guy as being the best player. In fact I don't think either will end up being the best quarterback.

I would be sick if we drafted Sanders or Ward. Perish the thought! There is no way I want any QB with our 1st pick unless we trade down significantly. For that reason, I am content to stay in the #4 to #7 spot; I would be very fearful if we ended up in the top 2 spots. We will get a very good player where we are currently at #6.

A guy that intrigues me is LT Wyatt Milum of West Virginia, he has good size, good footwork and good hand placement. He isn't an Elite player but a very good one and most draft sites rank him as a mid 1st rnd pick.

If we were to land the number one or number two pick.
Then we traded it to a team who wants a QB. We could end up with like the 5th pick and the 15th.

A friend of mine is a Packers fan, lucky him, and he mentioned about Myles possibly wanting out. I told him that I don't blame Myles as we need a rebuild here and he's turning 29 soon. He said Green Bay could really use him and i mentioned a lot of teams could. I don't want to trade him, but we could probably get a #1 and maybe a #2 or#3 for him. It's something to think about. By the time we become really competitive again Myles will be 33 or 34 on the downside of his career. I'm sure he doesn't want to end up like Joe Thomas.

I have given some thought to trading Myles.
No, I do not want to trade him.
He is a HOFer. I don't trade people like him for draft picks. Draft picks come with a gamble. Many do not pan out.
The only time I would do that is if I was sure I could draft the best quarterback prospect I had seen in ten years or so.
I don't believe in tear downs. I think you build the best roster you can every year.

I agree Bone. I don't want to trade him either like I mentioned. It's just food for thought and looking at all options. Our D is still pretty good, but we could use another edge rusher, CB, Safety and a LB IMO. On O we need an O-line rebuild with 3 new guys, WR, RB, and obviously a QB. It can't be done in one draft and FA period. Maybe in 3.

The draft is still a long way off.
As of right now three players really intrigue me.
Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, and Jalen Milroe.
Those three IMO have the highest ceilings.
PFF in their overall rankings rank them as follows:
Hunter is number One.
Jeanty is number Four.
Milroe is number Twelve.
If I were the Browns and today is the draft. I would draft Milroe.
PFF
12. QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama Strengths: • Not just escapability but a true dual-threat athlete • Good enough athlete to force missed tackles in space • Twitchy athleticism evident in throwing motion speed • Can show really nice touch/accuracy on deep passes • Experienced RPO quarterback
Weaknesses: • Accuracy/decision-making variance is large right now — plenty of highlight plays but also plenty of regrettable ones • Holds the ball low and loose in his stance • Accuracy can dip when he takes speed off his throw for shorter distances • Can struggle seeing non-primary defenders • Time to throw/sacks taken is far too high, even for “you take the bad with the good.”
IMO his weakness are correctable. They are more the results of inexperience because he is a one year starter.
If Milroe was going to stay in school for another. I think he would be a clear number one.
So, I would sign Cousins for minimum and I would draft Milroe. Milroe would not play till 2026 unless injury forced him in.

Pretty sure Milroe started most if not all of 2023, too, so not sure the inexperience excuse really flies. Also was with Saban for 3 of his 4 years, so it would seem he was coached hard/"well."
There's even less time for coaching at the next level. I'm not sure how correctable the weaknesses are if he hasn't corrected them already.
Don't get me wrong, I see potential in Milroe, too. I've just been burned by potential too many times. It's too hard to guess what will actually get corrected. Is he functional at all at the NFL level if they don't? QB is kind of the one position where you need to have everything or you've basically got nothing. Can't really do a specialist role and grow from there at that spot.
Again, maybe it can work with him, but I'd care a lot about the plan.
Edit: I'd rather go the Fields route than Cousins. I think Cousins is done. I think putting him behind our OL would ensure it if he's not already. Also think the optimal offensive plan would be more similar for those two.

Cousins has fallen off the map late in the season and hasn't actually looked any better than what's available in the Browns QB room as of now. I understand why some find it attractive because he had success when working with Stefanski before but you can't bring back talent that's no longer there.
Much like yourself I believe when you try to line up cost with need Fields may end up being the best option available to the Browns during the off season.

I would take Cousins and him possibly regaining past form, over anything we have now. Id like to draft a QB but I dunno about the prospects. Reading here it doesn’t sound favourable.

I don't know what happened in Atl. with Cousins.
Cousins turned 36 in August. He has years of proven performance in the NFL.
He has had productive results with KS. He knows the offense run before by KS.
Fields has not done much. He could not win the starters role with the Steelers.
He is an out of pocket mobile player who can run. We have had DW and DTR and not much success with either.
Meanwhile Baker, Jacoby, Flacco and Winston put up decent numbers in our previous offense.
Cousins is not a long term solution. He will be paid league minimum after being cut.
I would guess they sign Cousins.

Cousins needs to be the bridge
If a QB we like is there in the 2nd round, take him to learn behind Cousins. Build the O line or D line with the 1st pick. Grab a great back in the 3rd round and maybe even another in the 6th
Something not mentioned in the way of trades....trade Njoku. I don't know what you can get, maybe a 3rd rounder.
This draft has some really good TE prospects. Fannin, Warren, others. Tight ends are fairly safe picks, meaning their college performance translates to NFL performance. We could plug and play either of Fannin or Warren.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

if we can get travis hunter, that would be amazing. we already have Garrett and Ward on defense in their primes right now. we need a a generational talent on offense

Hunter is like two players.
He is going to play both ways or he will not go to a team that does not use him that way.
I have not watched him but he is most likely the best talent in this draft.

I don't dislike Hunter. He looks good in the highlights. I do wish more full game cut ups were readily available.
Unfortunately, he looks like a Patriot to me. A weapon for Maye, and they have valued versatility and I think that sticks post-Bill.
Maybe we get in front of them in the draft order, who knows.

The draft is a real crap shoot.
Every year once it is over every team acts they have gold with every pick. You read their draft reports. The team says how lucky they were to get the guy.
The reality is after three years most of the picks have failed to be what you thought.
Most likely two players get a second contract.
I am not confident that Berry will have a good draft. He might. Maybe.
My hope is that he gets better than he has been.

I have been waiting for a quarterback for so long. I don't like to think about it.
I want to feel again what I felt with Bernie.
Like we have the guy to win it all.
I don't know who that guy is now. I just want that guy with the Browns.

Exclusively on offense and use him like Deebo Samuel.

I don't think officially but it is expected he will enter the draft.
There are in my early opinion three studs in this draft that look like real impact players.
Hunter, Jeanty, and Milroe.
These three have that unique athletic ability that separates them.
Milroe probably has the highest risk factor because of position. At the same time his impact could be the greatest.
Hunter and Jeanty have the highest floor. They are real close to cannot miss.

Sanders may be a good young player.
I have watched some of his tape but I do not see a top ten prospect in him.
He is one player I would want to avoid. Deon is a man who has always craved attention. It is who he is.
I can imagine what would happen if the Browns drafted him. Media circus for sure. But that would be nothing compared to what could happen down the road.
Imagine it not going well with him at quarterback. Sanders throwing picks. Losing games. Getting benched.
It would be national attention that would never end.
I would not draft him because of Deon. Plus I don't think I would spend a first round pick on him because I don't rank him as the best QB prospect.

I don’t want us to draft Sanders either for the reasons you mentioned. Besides, I’m sure Deion doesn’t want him to come to Cleveland. We’ve had enough nonsense between Manziel, OBJ and Watson. We need to keep things under the radar and our FO to do its job and draft solid, talented and productive players.

The first time I watch a college QB prospect.
All I look at is footwork. Then I will watch everything all over again and see how the feet are tied to position and finally the throw.
Footwork is really important for proper throwing mechanics.
After that is about how he handles the pocket? Can he stay in a clean pocket? Does he step up and keep the full field in front of him.
Both Sanders and Ward have bad footwork. Both of them drift and leave early. Preferring to roll out. That is not a good thing. It takes half the field out of play. College games are misleading. They create bad habits because players get away with things that they will not get away with in the pros.
Mobile quarterbacks in college can get away and create. It is much harder in the pros.
Ward is actually the better athlete compared to Sanders. Ward has some good tape. But I cannot get excited about him.
I think there are better players when we pick than either Ward or Sanders.

Watched Sanders yesterday.
Not impressed. He continues to do the same thing. Leave the pocket early and roll out with bad results.
