I consider any illegal we can find in the “most” category. If we can’t find them we probably can’t deport them.
The net cost to state, local and federal governments of illegals in 2023 was $150 billion dollars. Illegals do not pay for themselves nor to they provide a net gain to the treasury. The idea that they do not access benefits Americans pay for is ludicrous. Their kids end up in our schools often requiring special benefits like language translation. They end up in our emergency rooms, usually as a non paying patient.
Any time I see an article that combines data for illegals and those who are in the country legally, the data becomes suspect. Nobody is talking about immigrants who are here legally.
We need to make it impossible for someone to work who is here illegally. E verify would be a start.
Down the road when we have normalized and stabilized our immigration we can look at our green card system and other aspects of immigration law to make the system work best for Americans. That is our goal.

I understand how anything you don't agree with is something you find suspect.
We already have a green card system.
We also already have a worker shortage with unemployment at near a 50 year low. Help wanted signs everywhere with no workers to fill the positions. I'm sure deporting millions of working people will help that situation.
Sometimes people think more about what they want than the consequences that come along with getting what they want. This is another prime example of "Be careful what you wish for."
You see, I have already set practical parameters that should not greatly impact the labor market while at the same time deporting many illegal immigrants. Millions upon millions in fact. But practicality seems to escape some people.

Did I hear this right, Ramaswamey and Musk are fighting with the over immigration? Musk and Ramaswamy are at odds with Loomer, Bannon, Gaetz and even Haley on the H1B. Ramaswamy has taken digs at American culture as being the problem. He’s upset that we glorified people like Zack Morris instead of Screech Powers. That is not a joke.

This should make your head explode........ Mexico tests cellphone app allowing migrants to send alert if they are about to be detained in US MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico is developing a cellphone app that will allow migrants to warn relatives and local consulates if they think they are about to be detained by the U.S. immigration department, a senior official said Friday. The move is in response to President-elect Donald Trump’s threats to carry out mass deportations after he takes office on Jan. 20. The app has been rolled out for small-scale testing and “appears to be working very well,” said Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Mexico’s secretary of foreign affairs. He said the app would allow users to press a tab that would send an alert notification to previously chosen relatives and the nearest Mexican consulate. De la Fuente described it as a sort of panic button. “In case you find yourself in a situation where detention is imminent, you push the alert button, and that sends a signal to the nearest consulate,” he said. U.S. authorities are obliged to give notice to home-country consulates when a foreign citizen is detained. Mexico says it has beefed up consular staff and legal aid to help migrants in the legal process related to deportation. De la Fuente expects the app to be rolled out in January. He didn’t say whether the app has a de-activation tab that would allow someone to rescind an alert if they weren’t really detained. The government says it has also set up a call center staffed 24 hours a day to answer migrants’ questions. The Mexican government estimates there are 11.5 million migrants with some form of legal residency in the United States, and 4.8 million without legal residency or proper documents. https://apnews.com/article/mexico-a...sulates-09655e742f2918803881a32620e384ef

throughout human history, we've seen matters of immigration and mass deportation plans have eventually lead to all out war, genocide, and overall, a lot of human rights violations.
Pit, i am extremely worried that the republicans - empowered by the american people - are going to march our country into a war against central american nations. Trump talking about Panama reminded me so much of Putin when he talks about Ukraine and the old soviet territories.

While I certainly wouldn't predict that nothing at this point would surprise me. When Panama stated in a rebuttal to trump saying we would take back the canal by saying it belongs to them and will continue to belong to them, trump's reply was "We'll see about that".
For anyone that takes him seriously that should at least be troublesome. And if they don't take what he says seriously why would they vote for him?

How about this. I’ll let the court work out the statute of limitations thing. We can focus on illegals who broke into our country and committed crimes, illegals who have had their asylums claim denied and received an order of removal and the 10,12, 15 million that Biden dumped into our country. Those three groups should keep our authorities busy the next four years. But you lefties will not even support that will you?? Reading is fundamental. Try that before going on some rant. I plainly stated that if people had been in this country for over 5 years, are working and paying taxes and have committed no crimes there should be some stipulation to allow them to stay. In case you missed it, that covers everyone you just described. But as per usual you want to label anyone who doesn't want to deport everyone no matter what a "lefty". To be clear people who break into our country illegally should be removed. So you just expanded it well beyond the people you yourself just described above. But first we will bring the border under control, and we will do it without the congressional legislative action you say we must have to control the border. All we really need is the will to control our border. We did not have that with Biden and the lefties in charge. We have it now! I guess you must have missed the huge decrease in people crossing the border after Biden was forced to take action due to Republicans blindsiding the immigration bill they helped write because trump told them to. Congress had the opportunity to act and help control the border but they refused to. It was because trump didn't want the problem to be fixed until he became president. Far left liberals go too far and so do people such as yourself. I'm not a fan of extremism. Both sides could use a dose of common sense. I would also say those people who are here illegally but otherwise solid members of society should have to report themself. If we have to hunt them down, all bets off. Those people should have a realistic date by which that should happen. Maybe 6 months? We won't be looking for them for a while, if ever to be honest. Right away the bad actors need to be deported.

I would say we pretty much agree. They would have to make sure it is published widely so everyone is informed but otherwise that seems pretty reasonable.

It's odd how you posted a rational idea concerning immigration then align yourself with an extremist on the topic? Well maybe not. Not really. I am all for rounding up the scum and allowing some to stay if they take the steps, but they have to make the effort. If we have to round them up, ship them out of Dodge. If they have children born here, then they have a tough decision. Take them back to wherever or abandon them and leave then here. I don't know what steps would need to be in place. I do know I would want they have been paying taxes, or at least filing with the IRS. If not, they are tax evaders as well and need to be sent home. End of discussion.

And, I grow my own fruit and vegetables, so pffft. Vegetable Gardens are a thing. So are Community Gardens. So are Farmer's Markets. People should opt to grow their own rather than buying overpriced, unhealthy, out of season, bland, half rotten GMO hybrid produce at the grocery store. Most of which came from other countries anyways. So you are wasting your tears on nothing. I'll keep eating my delicious healthy heirloom produce that I grew myself. You can buy some old wilted lettuce from the grocery store if that's your thing.

I don't even know how this "$10 lettuce" and other such nonsense exists.
Produce prices were even fine during COVID, but now, 10 million illegals later, we're all going to pay through the ___ and the fruit will rot on the vine when we start deporting.
In a four-year-stretch of 'dumber than dumb', this may be one of the dumbest of all.

Libtards spread lies to fear monger. AKA "Trump is literally Hitler." America isn't buying it. We reject libtard lies and so America chose Trump. An we also reject Pit's 10 dollar lettuce. However, I do have some lettuce to sell Pit, and I'll only charge him 9 dollars. Mexico is building dozens of shelters for illegals in anticipation of the deportations. They take Trump seriously and laughed their asses off at Biden. (and so did the rest of the world) It's amazing what happens when you have a tough assertive President. https://redstate.com/rusty-weiss/20...or-illegals-on-inauguration-day-n2183647

Pit is crying giant tears that his modern day slavery will have to stop. I bet your ancestors asked who will pick the cotton in 1865 also. At that time in our nations history my ancestors were share croppers, not slave owners. Only rich and powerful people like trump and the people he is appointing owned slaves. You know, the type you support. Farmers market prices are much higher than the grocery store so you're once again spouting your usual nonsense. I'll keep eating my delicious healthy heirloom produce that I grew myself. You can buy some old wilted lettuce from the grocery store if that's your thing. We know what your thing is. Nasty, hateful rhetoric. Nobody sheds tears over watching a grown ass woman constantly throw tantrums like a three year old. And only the ignorant thinks a 78 year old man that does nothing but throws tantrums makes for a strong president.

Here's where it comes from. Many working in those fields are illegal. There was nobody actively trying to deport every illegal during covid. I understand you don't like to entertain anything that goes against your train of thought but reality in this case is quite different than you are imagining....... “If you take away those workers, you’re not going to have production. There’s only one way prices are going to go. They’re going to go dramatically higher,” said Chuck Conner, president and CEO of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives and a former US Department of Agriculture deputy secretary. The logic is simple: Fewer workers mean less food and higher prices. ‘It would be devastating’ Consider that in 2018-2020, just 36% of crop farmworkers were US citizens and 23% were authorized immigrants. The rest — 41% — held no work authorization, according to the USDA. “When cows don’t get milked, when apples don’t get picked, when fruits and vegetables are not harvested, your supply is going to fall,” said Conner. The federal government has estimated that about 11 million unauthorized immigrants lived in the United States as of early 2022. Nearly 300,000 undocumented immigrants work in the farming and agriculture industry as of 2021, including almost 200,000 in crop production and 66,000 for animal production, according to a 2021 analysis by the Center for American Progress. “It would be devastating to the ag economy,” said Fred Leitz, who owns a family farm in Michigan that grows blueberries, apples, tomatoes and cucumbers. “There would be nobody to pick the crops. And you’re not going to plant anything you can’t harvest and sell. It’s just basic economics.” Worker shortages and price hikes An additional roughly 206,000 undocumented immigrants work in food production — doing everything from animal slaughtering and seafood processing to fruit and vegetable preservation, according to that report. Altogether, an estimated 1.7 million undocumented people work across the food supply chain. “There’s no question that mass deportation of immigrants will disrupt the agriculture and food processing industries, resulting in severe labor shortages, higher costs and thus higher prices for a wide variety of groceries,” Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, told CNN. “The only question is how high prices will go.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/18/economy/economy-trump-deportation-grocery-inflation/index.htmlIn addition to that are the threatened tariffs on Mexico of 25%. I mean if trump actually follows through with his threat which I admit is debatable. But if so that will be a one-two punch............... Overall, Mexico made up 69% of U.S. vegetable imports and 51% percent of U.S. fresh fruit imports in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Between 2000 and 2021, the value of Mexico's horticultural exports into the U.S. quadrupled. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/co...-how-much-could-prices-change-rcna181837Hopefully that helps give you a better understanding.

There are 300,000 workers "in the fields".
10 million+ illegals just entered the country.
Calculators are still $1.25 at Dollar Tree.
Just to be inclusive, if you can't afford one, I'll provide one free of cost.
Again, one of the dumbest narratives in the last four years of obscenely dumb narratives. But I suspect you already know that.

US farm groups want Trump to spare their workers from deportation Farm industry warns Trump's deportation plans could upend food supply Nearly half of US farm workers lack legal status Farmers seek expanded legal pathways for agricultural laborers WASHINGTON, Nov 25 (Reuters) - U.S. farm industry groups want President-elect Donald Trump to spare their sector from his promise of mass deportations, which could upend a food supply chain heavily dependent on immigrants in the United States illegally. So far Trump officials have not committed to any exemptions, according to interviews with farm and worker groups and Trump's incoming "border czar" Tom Homan. Nearly half of the nation's approximately 2 million farm workers lack legal status, according to the departments of Labor and Agriculture, as well as many dairy and meatpacking workers. Trump, a Republican, vowed to deport millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally as part of his campaign to win back the White House, a logistically challenging undertaking that critics say could split apart families and disrupt U.S. businesses. Homan has said immigration enforcement will focus on criminals and people with final deportation orders but that no immigrant in the U.S. illegally will be exempt. He told Fox News on Nov. 11 that enforcement against businesses would "have to happen" but has not said whether the agricultural sector would be targeted. "We've got a lot on our plate," Homan said in a phone interview this month. Mass removal of farm workers would shock the food supply chain and drive consumer grocery prices higher, said David Ortega, a professor of food economics and policy at Michigan State University. "They're filling critical roles that many U.S.-born workers are either unable or unwilling to perform," Ortega said. Farm groups and Republican allies are encouraged by the incoming administration's stated focus on criminals. Dave Puglia, president and CEO of Western Growers, which represents produce farmers, said the group supports that approach and is concerned about impacts to the farm sector if a deportation plan was targeted at farmworkers. Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt did not directly address the farmer concerns in a statement to Reuters. "The American people re-elected President Trump by a resounding margin giving him a mandate to implement the promises he made on the campaign trail, like deporting migrant criminals and restoring our economic greatness," Leavitt said. "He will deliver." Only that's not what he said. He said "all illegals."Trump announced on Saturday that he would nominate Brooke Rollins, who chaired the White House Domestic Policy Council during his first term, to become agriculture secretary. Agriculture and related industries contributed $1.5 trillion to the U.S. gross domestic product, or 5.6%, in 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In his first administration, Trump promised the farm sector that his deportation effort would not target food sector workers, though the administration did conduct raids at some agricultural worksites, including poultry processing plants in Mississippi and produce processing facilities in Nebraska.U.S. Representative John Duarte, a Republican and fourth-generation farmer in California's Central Valley, said farms in the area depend on immigrants in the U.S. illegally and that small towns would collapse if those workers were deported. Duarte said the Trump administration should pledge that immigrant workers in the country for five years or longer with no criminal record will not be targeted and look at avenues to permanent legal status. "I would like to hear more clearly expressed that these families will not be targeted," he said. 'WE NEED THE CERTAINTY' Farmers have a legal option for hiring labor with the H-2A visa program, which allows employers to bring in an unlimited number of seasonal workers if they can show there are not enough U.S. workers willing, qualified and available to do the job. The program has grown over time, with 378,000 H-2A positions certified by the Labor Department in 2023, three times more than in 2014, according to agency data. But that figure is only about 20% of the nation's farm workers, according to the USDA. Many farmers say they cannot afford the visa's wage and housing requirements. Others have year-round labor needs that rule out the seasonal visas. Farmers and workers would benefit from expanded legal pathways for agricultural laborers, said John Walt Boatright, director of government affairs at the American Farm Bureau Federation, a farmer lobby group. "We need the certainty, reliability and affordability of a workforce program and programs that are going to allow us to continue to deliver food from the farm to the table,” said John Hollay, director of government relations at the International Fresh Produce Association, which represents produce farmers. For decades, farm and worker groups have attempted to pass immigration reform that would enable more agricultural workers to stay in the U.S., but the legislation has failed so far. The risk of enforcement against farms is likely low because of the necessity of the workers, said Leon Fresco, an immigration attorney at Holland & Knight. "There are some very significant business interests that obviously want agricultural labor and need it," he said. But for farmworkers, the fear of enforcement can create chronic stress, said Mary Jo Dudley, director of the Cornell Farmworker Program, which is training workers to know their rights if confronted by immigration officials. If there are again raids on meatpacking plants, immigration enforcement should take precautions to avoid detaining workers in the country legally, said Marc Perrone, international president of the United Food and Commercial Workers union, which represents some meatpacking workers. Edgar Franks, a former farmworker and political director at Familias Unidas por la Justicia, a worker union in Washington state, said the group is seeing new energy from workers to organize. "The anxiety and fear is real. But if we're together, there’s a better chance for us to fight back," he said. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us...re-their-workers-deportation-2024-11-25/

Crap. Now that you've copied and pasted so much fear-porn I think I'm gonna see if Eve will be willing to share her salad -- just in case.

Around here, gone are the days that migrants were out in the fields, picking tomatoes. Technology does that kind of thing. 1 machine can replace 30-50 pickers. It's weird how that works.
But, regardless, we're being told we need illegals to do this work. Only illegals working around here work at Mexican restaurants. In fact, 1 such restaurant got shut down last year for? Not paying the workers, and not taking tax out of the smidgen they did pay, and not paying taxes on what they did pay.
I would guess that those "farmers" that are worried about their crops not being harvested are reaping huge benefits by using illegal labor.
Notice the word "illegal", constantly.
Cows getting milked? Oddly, it's all mechanized now a days.
Cows know where they get fed. And this little tag that they have them let the farmers know (and the computer) how much said cow has eaten, how much milk said cow gives, and also, the cows walk them in to the milking area where, get this, a person or 2 hook up the milking machine. That's at a 100-200 cow farm.
Those that raise 500 or more? It's even more mechanized.

that's because a lot of people need software updates. illegal workers are in a lot of facilities, like meat processing plants.

Illegal workers. Your words. Hmmm..............I think we're onto something. maybe. but businessmen are in charge of government now. and this group of businessmen specifically rely on the very immigration programs their voters want to limit. quite the conundrum.

And still you avoided the question. You said "most". So who isn't included in "most"?
I agree we should control who comes into our country. You think we should also kick out people who have been here for five years or more that have committed no crimes, are working and paying taxes. Murica!
And yes, that's an extreme viewpoint whether you can see it or not. If a person is here illegally how do they work legally, to pay those taxes you keep going on about? To work legally you must file an I9 and prove you are legally allowed to work in the US. I mean sure, they pay taxes. The government has assured that you pay so many taxes you fail to notice all of them. But if they can't work legally then they aren't really paying taxes. And if they work illegally and get paid under the table they are likely also evading tax payments, which is a crime. If someone stole access to the US they shouldn't be rewarded with the gift of it once they are found out. You ever spend money at a store? Gas station? Restaurant? Utility bills? Cell phone bill? Everything you do is taxed. They pay those taxes. And I believe, while awaiting immigration court ruling, they have work rights to make a living. Else we’d be footing their food, clothes, lodging, healthcare and anything else they need to live in the US. Quick google ai response: No, immigrants waiting for asylum hearings are not automatically eligible for work rights: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Work permit eligibility Asylum applicants can apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) after 150 days of filing their asylum application, but they must wait an additional 30 days for a total of 180 days. This is known as the 180-Day Asylum EAD Clock. [2] Work permit delays Delays caused by the applicant do not count towards the 180-day period. However, backlogs and delays can still occur, which can make it difficult for asylum seekers to find work. [1, 2] Work permit after winning asylum Once an asylum case is won, the applicant can obtain an unrestricted Social Security card and does not need to apply for an EAD. [4] Asylum Seeker Work Authorization Act This bill would direct the Department of Homeland Security to provide employment authorization for eligible asylum applicants. [5] Generative AI is experimental. [1] https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/research/asylum-united-states[2] https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-and-asylum/asylum[3] https://www.rescue.org/article/what-happens-once-asylum-seekers-arrive-us[4] https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/asylum-applicants-work-permit-timing-32297.html[5] https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/1325 /end ai So, it looks like they have to wait 6 months… then they pay taxes for the rest of the time… hmm. Trump doesn’t want asylum seekers from black and brown countries, period. MAGA won’t say it, nut we know it’s true. But if you are really smart and can work in tech, you get a Elon pass. If you’re a hard working middle class or poor, Trump doesn’t want you taking “American Jobs”… So MAGA better learn to pick veggies, clean toilets, cook in restaurants, and do all the laborious BS jobs that immigrants fill. Yep, MAGA is voting for their own demotion to poor peasants working for peanuts to keep the 1% STRONG. Smfh, you can’t make this up. Imagine the loudest MAGA voices on the board surviving a self inflicted GREAT DEPRESSION as migrant pickers living in shacks or Hoovervilles. I’d say that is a highly likely outcome if Trump get’s his way. I mean Trump inflicting economic damage intentionally is all part of the plan. Add in the brologarchy forming in front of our eyes and anyone can see everything they do will be for the ELITE, like we told you. So spare me the denials and let’s just let it play out. I’ll be here for the “We told you so” FAFO Nation giggles while trying to survive my damn self.
