not over the oligarchs, or fascism, or increase in bigotry. no no no, imma leave this country if we end up renaming Greenland to Red White and Blue land. I will disown this country so freaking quick if we do that.

On a survival path? WTH does that even mean? How much fat do you think are on those starving children? How much fat do you think is on research to find the cure to diseases? Your idea of fat is the very things our government was doing to feed the starving and study cures and causes of disease. That's "fat" to you?

I think we fully understand which pig is squealing here.

The head of the EPA is appointed and confirmed by the Senate. Nice try, though. In this case, I was more talking about FAA and just how regs in general are hurting the average consumer. Now the current admin is stripping away the only body that's actively trying to look out for us.

So who is it other than a dictator can authorize himself to expel people from their land and take it over?

a real world example

a couple days ago, I was on a conference call with the developers of a clean power generation manufacturing plant. They had asked us to help them begin budgeting the project as it was ready to proceed. They received a very nice sized grant from the previous administration and started working on securing the land and working on the construction documents. We were in touch with them probably 3/4th quarter last year and were looking forward to start working with them on budgeting this project in the Feb/March timeframe with a late spring/early summer 2025 construction start if we were awarded. The total construction cost of this project is probably somewhere around a quarter billion dollars with hundreds of new employees when completed.

On the call a couple days ago-the team told us at this point they have basically stopped working on the drawings on the project and would not be coming back to us until May at the earliest and everything is getting moved back. Why, you may ask-the grant that was awarded to them has been put on hold, frozen-they do not know if they are getting the grant-one thing they said is the only way they could possible move the project forward is going back to the current administration and showing them that this is not for clean energy power or grid backup-but that it could be used for oil and gas drilling. That may be the only way they get the money that was already promised to them.

They also said that they are hopeful, but if the grant goes away-they will be rethinking their decision to build this facility at this size and spend this money right now.

Yes, someone who won't call Snowden a traitor and won't say she will refuse to obey trump's orders even if they are illegal is the right direction for those who prefer a dictator to a president.

Yep nothing on lowering costs for American families or slowing inflation. Nothing on ending taxes on SS and tips as he promised. Actually looks to be raising taxes on many middle class Americans once again. pfft Goper’s.

well...

So we're bringing entire govt departments to a standstill and kicking off mass RIFs all in the name of saving money... while also getting ready to grow the debt ceiling by trillions.

And we're going to start up a sovereign wealth fund.

Same as it's ever was. They don't give a damn about spending money as long as they're spending it on what they want to spend it on. And now they want to stop spending it on what they don't want to spend it on so they can spend more on what they want to spend it on.

Cause you know, the gays and the trans and the DEI. We all know what they really means. "The ain't like us!" That's the same as it ever was too.

Oh, some bonehead will be along shortly to boast about how much they had when Trump gave them peanuts the last time. The entire problem has always been corps and the financial elite not paying their fair share. It hasn’t even been a month yet and the country is tanking. We have 4 years of this BS ahead of us. I don’t think Trump will make it.

Rupert Murdoch’s editorial writing team at the Wall Street Journal says America’s gold decor-loving, cash-carrying billionaire president doesn’t understand how money actually works.

On Tuesday, U.S. consumer price inflation unexpectedly rose to 3 percent, prompting an excitable post from Donald Trump on his social media platform Truth Social saying that interest rates should be lowered and that this would go “hand in hand with upcoming Tariffs!!!”

“Does President Trump understand money? ... the answer would appear to be no,” the WSJ editorial board replied, going on to explain why doing such a thing might cause inflation to soar—and Trump’s approval ratings to plunge.

“Perhaps the president wants the public to look elsewhere when assigning blame for rising prices,” it said.

Under the headline “Trumponomics and Rising Inflation,” the WSJ team went on to systematically dismantle Trump’s mental abilities. “The layers of intellectual confusion here are hard to parse,” it wrote, before reluctantly going on to try and parse them anyway.

“Rising inflation means the Fed must be more cautious in cutting rates,” it said, in a similar tone to that you might find in an eighth grade economics class.

“He has the analysis backward,” they continued, “if he’s trying to blame the Federal Reserve.”

“Someone should tell him,” about what was actually to blame for the potential for a pause in rate cuts (the Fed’s “premature” half percentage point cut in September, apparently.)

Trump has previously signaled that he would like to assert control over the independent Federal Reserve, telling Bloomberg in July 2024 that he wouldn’t fire Fed chair Jerome Powell, “especially if I thought he was doing the right thing.”

“The Powell Fed is likely to ignore Mr. Trump, and well it should,” it said.

Despite the patronising tone, the article makes it clear that the Journal is on Trump’s side and wants him to succeed.

It says he’s not responsible for price rises since he’s only been in office for three weeks, and warns that failing to get inflation under control was one of the main reasons why President Joe Biden lost the election.

“The last thing Mr. Trump should be doing now is demanding that Mr. Powell cut rates further,” it says, because “an inflation revival may be the biggest threat to the Trump presidency.”

“Real average earnings are flat over the last three months,” it says.

“If this persists, Mr. Trump won’t have a 53% job approval rating for long.”

Huntsville Ala utility are raising some customers bills by 100 dollars a month. They also sent a letter explaining why. They told their customers in the letter that they had to raise their customers bills bills because the community action grant that reduced their utility bills were cut off from trump by executive order.

So, the Huntsville Al utilities are raising prices because they aren't getting the "free" money from grants? Sounds like the utility users will have to start paying for what they use, as opposed to being subsidized by tax payers. Is that right? Or should all taxpayers subsidize other areas? If so, why am I not getting subsidized?

Wow. Dems freak out any time a handout is taken away. I want free stuff; I don't want to have to work and actually earn anything. Sorry, this is the real world. About time someone steps in a looks out for taxpayers interests.

This is just the beginning. Red states are really about to feel the pain. They are cutting medicaid and snap in the budget to give all our money to billionaires. And as long as we still have people like arch saying take their money because I’m tired of paying for it… people will suffer.

BTW arch, you haven’t paid anything but taxes. And it’s very Christian of you to talk like this… Your taxes aren’t going down except for may a little chump change for a year… If anything, you’ll pay more so Elon and his ilk can have more billions. Congratulations, you won and you’re still losing.

You realize that Huntsville Al. isn't blue, it's red. Even their mayor is Republican. This hand out is going to Republicans. Maybe if these southern red states weren't the poorest states in the nation they wouldn't need hand outs. Maybe some of you should do a quick Google search before you make yourselves look foolish.

The poorest states in America are Mississippi, New Mexico, West Virginia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Alabama.

I'm sure all of those wonderful Republican families appreciate your understanding while their elected governments have them living in poverty.

Maybe they should vote Democrat next time.

So you're sure that people in one of the poorest states in America can absorb up to a $100 dollar increase in their electric bill?

This must be backwards day. Here I am sticking up for poor republicans in a red state while you want help they need blocked.

Matt 25

The Judgement
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32and before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

What Bible do you read and which God do you follow? Your words make it appear you don't read the same Bible I do nor follow the same Jesus I do. Jesus doesn't consider it a hand out.

The bible does not in any way condone socialism. Actually, it condones free will. You are using a bible verse so far out of context it is utterly ridiculous. What I do with my own money and how I treat people I am held into account. I am also held into account to how I vote but not by what my government does.

Anyone that supports abortion and the killing of baby made in God's image. Then supports allowing children to mutilate themselves has no right to lecture others on bible verses. I could tell you about many ways in my life I support people less fortunate than myself. I don't need to. All of the adoration I need comes from my Lord and Savior. I will never support a socialist society. TTaking from one to give to another is not a Godly principle. Giving of yourself is. I do not support a government making decision with my money that I can make better than they. I will give to organizations that will feed the hungry but also attempt to save a soul. What good is it to be feed here on earth and then burn for all eternity. A government that promotes trans programs in our country and across the world should not receive my tax dollars. Governments that support the murder of babies in this country and across the world should not receive my tax dollars. Do I support people keeping more of their money yes. 100%. We pay way too much in taxes now. There are organizations that feed the hungry and take care of the sick and are funded by churches and other organizations we all can give freely to them not be robbed blind by a government that does not support the same values I support.

This money was already approved for winter heating assistance for the poor. If you are among the poorest of the poor in Alabama, you are pretty friggin poor

Wow. Dems freak out any time a handout is taken away. I want free stuff; I don't want to have to work and actually earn anything. Sorry, this is the real world. About time someone steps in a looks out for taxpayers interests.

Alabama is a red state.

There's nothing out of context about it. It's simple instructions and the cost of what happens if you ignore it.

You claim it's about free will while you at the same time admonish those that wish to allow people to have free will. Somehow I'm not surprised by that.

I'm not telling anyone what they should do. I'm telling them what the scripture says they should do. They have every right to ignore that if they so choose. It won't be me questioning them in the end why they ignored this simple message. But stop pretending it doesn't say exactly what it says.

Yes, in your world you somehow think that helping the poor pay their heating bills is "robbed blind by our government." Anyone with an ounce of common sense fully understands that religion can't help all those in need of help in this country. But you do you. That seems to be all the rage these days. Others getting help seems to be the bigger sin among the Christian right now.

That was money that was already budgeted and ready to go... that's now gone.

I'll say it a little differently from how I said it in the other thread. If they had come out instead and said "grants like this are now subject to a different process... and just a heads up, getting these grants will be much more difficult", then I'd be cool with it. It shows that they are being thoughtful and take the responsibility of their job seriously. What they are doing now is anything but that.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Alabama is a red state.

I said this before and I'll repeat it because I'm not trying to hide anything....

I can't wait for more of this stuff. Me and my family will feel the higher prices but we'll be fine. MAGA loves to beat their chest about not handing out money/welfare... but the problem is that, overall, red states are the ones that gain the most from federal dollars handed out.

This dude got elected saying Dems didn't care about rising prices and inflation and immediately turns around and starts cutting beneficial programs and chasing inflationary tariffs.

I can't imagine that this is something his supporters had in mind when they cast their votes.

Can't wait to see the rationale/justification. I predict a whole lotta richness.

The mental gymnastics and willful ignorance has been mind-blowing.

Clem,
I totally think that they think at this time that this is exactly what they voted for-fer kutting all that waist...

But when it hits them smack in the face that the market take a crap, they keep paying more for grocery's and fuel, then the tariffs hit, then all that socialism that them dems been given out is taken away from them in the red states and they try to call for somebody to help and nobody is answering the phone for a few hours cause they are all laid off-maybe then they will figure out it wasn't to give up what little they had so the top .1% can get 83% of the savings and then some.
