I was taught that growing up that it was wrong for civilians to salute uniformed soldiers and all military ranks. Maybe I was misinformed, but it came from relatives active serving as well as retired from service. This administration does it like kids in a game. Seems at least ironic to the point of being hypocritical, even offensive. Got this emphatic instruction at an early age. Just don't find those saluting our heroes honorable or worthy of the gesture. Anybody know?

Those of us civilians who work for the military were instructed not to salute when we were hired. If you’re part of the chain of command you can salute, like SecDef and POTUS. Any other civilians should not.

Maybe they used some of those USAID funds they cut to feed and vaccinate starving children around the globe to pay for it. They claimed they wanted to cut wasteful spending and then created an event to spend money wastefully. Or maybe that's part of the tax cuts to billionaires.

Expectations before were around 200,000-don't know if that was tickets that were spoken for-most of those people ordered tickets with no intention of going. Saw some video of the parade crowd last night on socials-most of the guesses I saw was in the 10-20k range.
Some people said that yesterday wasn't even as busy as a normal weekend day in DC

The Army should be celebrated. As a matter of fact every branch of the military should be celebrated. I'm not sure a 45 million dollar parade of our troops and equipment is the way to do it but then If spending a ton of money and a public spectacle seems proper to some so be it. I mean it's not as if we have Armed Forces Day and Veterans Day already or anything.

No it didn’t. Even you know it was a waste of tax dollars. We all had a laugh over it here. Did you see those troops marching? They weren’t having a ball out there. Working on the weekend for their king. They all looked like they hated it. Marching out of step looking like a motley crew their commanding officer threw together at the last minute as a punishment for something they did.
And then watching Marco Rubio yawning up a storm was hilarious. And even Trump looked stupefied with what he was watching. Because he didn’t get a N. Korea, Russian, Nazi Germany type of a parade.

Now that is a level of distortion I find absolutely amazing.
But not surprising. It's their way of dehumanizing anyone who doesn't think and act exactly like they do. They do it to Democrats, the LGBTQ, immigrants and the list goes on. Just label them as less than human and once their followers begin to think of them that way it makes it much easier for them to discriminate against them and undermine their rights.
