In that "one second" he managed to process turning his body to the left towards the driver who was at his side, no longer in front of him, in order to take those second and third shots. DOJ sees no basis for civil rights investigation following ICE shooting in Minneapolis, official says
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is reportedly not investigating the fatal shooting of Renee Good by a federal immigration officer as a civil rights case.
“There is currently no basis for a criminal civil rights investigation,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told CNN Tuesday. The Hill has reached out to the DOJ for comment.
Good, 37, was shot and killed last Wednesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Officer Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis. The shooting sparked protests against the Trump administration’s widespread immigration crackdown.
The administration has defended Ross, arguing he acted in self-defense and Good obstructed federal law enforcement operations and weaponized her vehicle against officers in an act of “domestic terrorism.”
Federal investigators have also restricted local authorities’ access to materials and evidence, over the objections of city and state officials. Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Superintendent Drew Evans wrote last Thursday that his agency has “reluctantly withdrawn” from the investigation after the FBI informed it of the decision.
“We expect the FBI to conduct a thorough and complete investigation and that the full investigative file will be shared with the appropriate prosecutorial authorities at both the state and federal levels,” Evans added.
A day later, Evans wrote the BCA “remains open to conducting a full investigation” into the incident if the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota and the FBI “express a willingness to resume a joint investigation” or to share the evidence.
But earlier Tuesday, six federal prosecutors in the state — including Joseph H. Thompson, the first assistant U.S. attorney — resigned, with The New York Times reporting their departures stemmed from the DOJ’s attempts to investigate Good’s widow’s instead of Ross.
Thompson was the lead prosecutor on the DOJ’s probe into fraud within Minnesota’s social services program. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) said Tuesday his resignation is “a huge loss for our state” and the “latest sign [President] Trump is pushing nonpartisan career professionals out of the justice department, replacing them with his sycophants.”
“I can also see the point of view of the people that say, ‘Yeah, but you don’t want militarized people in the streets just roaming around snatching people up, many of which turn out to actually be U.S. citizens that just don’t have their papers on them,’” Rogan said. “Are we really going to be the Gestapo? ‘Where’s your papers?’ Is that what we’ve come to?”
Rogan said it was “very ugly to watch someone shoot a U.S. citizen, especially a woman, in the face.”
“It just looked horrific to me,” Rogan said. “I mean, when people are saying it’s justifiable because the car hit him, it seemed like she was kind of turning the car away.”
The agent taken to the hospital after the incident suffered internal bleeding to his torso. That is what happens when you disobey officers' orders and use your car as a weapon. The severity of those injuries prove that his actions were justified. No officer should ever not have the ability to defend their selves.

ICE has requested police intervention in Minneapolis and has been denied. Why should the Feds work with State and Local officials when they do not provide assistance when requested. The Feds will clearly protect their officer. I am aligned with that. The State and Local officials clearly want the opposite and make an example of that officer.
