Great to see a young power hitter for the Guardians.
The Braves lost three starters to the IL before the first game.
Crazy that they lead the NL with a 1.75 ERA. 6-2 start hitting and pitching well.

What a day Angel Martinez is having. 4 for 5, 2 singles, 2B, HR (grand slam), 4 rbi’s, SB in a 10-2 blowout.

I mean, I'd go Hedges and a second rounder for Judge if they'll send back a bag of popcorn.

Messick has been an ace so far this year. 3-0 with a 0.51 ERA. Just awesome.

Welp .... ugly day all around for the Guards. I don't understand pulling 2-2 DeLauter in favor of Bo Naylor ... who is hitting .115 or so.

As a Braves fan it is always hard for me when they play the Guardians.
I keep it as my American and National league teams.
Chris Sale is no day at the beach. Very uncomfortable at bats for left handed hitters.
Chase was very impressive for a young hitter. He got good wood on the ball against a great lefty.
He has a bright future.

Guardians rookie Parker Messick has no-hit bid broken up in 9th inning of 4-2 win over OriolesByAP Updated: Apr 16, 2026, 11:19 pm CLEVELAND -- — Parker Messick took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, José Ramírez homered for the third time in four games and the Cleveland Guardians opened a seven-game homestand with a 4-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night. Making his 11th major league start, Messick (3-0) faced one batter more than the minimum through eight innings before Leody Taveras led off the ninth with a grounder that just eluded diving second baseman Juan Brito and went into right field for a single. Blaze Alexander followed with a line-drive single to center before the rookie left-hander was removed to a standing ovation from the crowd of 14,748. Taylor Ward's single off closer Cade Smith loaded the bases, and Gunnar Henderson's sacrifice fly drove in Taveras. Pete Alonso hit an RBI double that put runners at second and third with one out. Smith then retired pinch-hitter Colton Cowser on a fly to center and Samuel Basallo on a grounder for his fourth save. The 25-year-old Messick walked two and equaled a career best with nine strikeouts. He was charged with two runs in eight-plus innings, his longest outing in the majors. He threw 112 pitches, 78 for strikes. The most recent no-hitter in the majors was Sept. 4, 2024, when Shota Imanaga and two Chicago Cubs relievers combined to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-0 at Wrigley Field. Cleveland has the longest current gap between no-hitters. The team’s last one was Len Barker’s perfect game on May 15, 1981, against the Toronto Blue Jays. Chase DeLauter walked in the first and Ramírez drove a first-pitch fastball from Shane Baz (0-2) into the right-center stands to give Cleveland a 2-0 lead. Steven Kwan hit an RBI single in the fifth and George Valera added a run-scoring single in the sixth. https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap/_/gameId/401814962

I wonder when Travis Bazzana will get called up.
He is 23 and the first pick. He is on the clock.
Shocking to me that the Braves lead MLB in era. Three starters are in rehab.
They lead MLB in hits, runs scored, Xtra base hits, run differential +55 and era.
Stunning.

Wonder no more. Guardians set to call up Travis Bazzana: What to expect from No. 1 pick in 2024 MLB Draft - CBS Sports https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/guardians-call-up-travis-bazzana-what-to-expect/The Cleveland Guardians are calling up their top prospect, second baseman Travis Bazzana, ESPN reports. Bazzana, 23, was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Oregon State. Coming into the 2026 season, CBS Sports ranked Bazzana as the No. 16 prospect in all of baseball. Here's part of our write-up: "The No. 1 pick in the 2024 Draft, Bazzana is now positioned to debut sometime in 2026. He split his first full professional season between Double- and Triple-A, hitting .245/.389/.424 with nine home runs and 12 stolen bases in 84 games. The book on him remains the same as when he was drafted: he combines a disciplined approach with above-average contact chops and power output. Indeed, Bazzana atones for pedestrian exit velocities by lifting and pulling the ball at high rates, a combination that ought to play well in Cleveland's ballpark. His comfort with deep counts will ensure he strikes out a fair amount, and he's not going to win a Gold Glove award anytime soon. Even so, Bazzana is a heady player who should justify the Guardians' selection for years to come." This season, Bazzana has been at Triple-A Columbus, and in 24 games he's slashed .287/.422/.511 with two home runs, 21 walks, and eight stolen bases. As well, Bazzana presently leads all the minor leagues in doubles with 11. For his minor-league career, the Oregon State product has an OPS of .826 across parts of three pro seasons with 14 home runs and 25 steals in 135 games. Bazzana will join a Guardians team that's 15-15 after losing three straight and four of their last five. Not surprisingly, Cleveland has again struggled offensively, as they rank 19th in MLB in both runs scored and OPS. As for Bazzana's future position, a job-share at second base in Cleveland has yielded a .202/.312/.330 line from the position thus far in 2026. Bazzana is not yet on the 40-player roster, but the Guardians have an open slot. They will, however, have to make a roster move in order to add him to the active roster.
