I'm happy we locked him up and paid him. I'm worried because I think we're due for another injury year with him.
I'm surprised we aren't positioning him to be traded mid-season.

I don't know. With Myles they signed him to a new contract before they traded him. Having a player committed to a contract rather than a team giving up draft assets for a player whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season likely makes a trade deal easier to make and not harder. I'm not so sure however with a two year deal verses a four year deal.
I'm certainly not trying to predict they will trade Ward but just showing an example of how signing him to a contract extension doesn't preclude a trade.
