I watched the first 3 quarters and then had somewhere to be

- Watson was OK. Nothing great, a few clunker throws. I feel like Monken is most concerned about pre snap stuff with DW.
- Sanders had 1-2 really nice throws and then some horrible ones
- Gabriel, kinda the same that we've seen
- KCC is legit - and you can tell we want him to be involved a lot
- Not much room to run for our backs from what I saw - but I'm not an OL guy in the least

- I'm very concerned about our D depth. It's not nearly what it has been IMO
- Coats flashed some good plays
- Delpit got injured so hopefully not serious
- Of course we were also missing Ward and Carson

Bone, it's almost always a long year. If I had to give a number for our win total, I would say 5. I'm hoping I'm wrong and it's more but I don't see it. Hopefully our young guys will continue to develop and our rookies also. That might be the best we can hope for this season.

First, before I post this I need to give a preface. I don't take a lot from preseason. I don't give it much credence overall. But the purpose of this thread is to post what I saw in this game so I will honor the intent of the thread.

Of he three QB's watson looked best. But even he seemed to lose confidence as the second quarter wore on. Shedeur was being Shedeur. He would throw the ball and you would think that was a pretty good pass. Then the next play I would think WTF was that? Gabriele confused me. Last year he looked confident on the field. He was rather poised for the most part. That's not what I saw yesterday. Outside of the first quarter that seemed like a common theme with all of our QB's.

I will say that watson did have all the starters available to him in the first quarter and that may be the reason for at least some of what we saw, or didn't see as the case may be at the QB position. Sanders will be working with the 1's in next weeks game so maybe that will give us more insight.

The starting OL did look improved in the passing game but not so much in the running game. KCC looks like the real deal. Fano seemed to hold his own.

We were missing some big bodies up front and starting CB's on D so it's much harder to tell how it stacks up right now. Hopefully once we see those players in the line up more questions will be answered.

The Browns had a chance to draft a promising QB in Drew Allar. But Andrew Berry like a Wal Mart
Door greeter knows little about drafting the right QB.

I see Monkens offense even in a small sample size looks miles
Above better than Stefanskis . Who by the way Atlanta fans are hating already
The defense has big issues with depth.
The oline has worse depth
Fannin needs to make the easy catches

I concur. I don't want to see DW play either. I'm rooting for SS I like him and want him to succeed. I want to see him play and develop. Unfortunately, winning is the name of the game and DW may give us the best shot. As a Browns fan for almost 60 years, it's very frustrating. I've seen teams that were good, have a stretch of some bad seasons and become good again and we're doing nothing but spin our wheels. Sad, frustrating, disheartening, disgust, pick your word they all apply.

I remember the first pre-season game last year against the Panthers and we looked good. We all know how the season turned out. We saw some good and bad play yesterday but it's only one game against a talented and well coached Bears team that should be competing for a Super Bowl spot. This is the same Bears team that gave us a beat down last December. I'm willing to give it some more time.

It made me want to see Green at QB

Not trying to be a jerk, but can we please wait on anointing Aller anything, especially promising? Before last college season he was being considered one of the top 4-5 QBs for the draft. That piqued my interest when I read it, because evry game I watched him he was less than average. So, I looked at his stats and was amazed at the numbers he put up the previous year and just assumed all the games I saw him play way less than optimal were an aberration. So, I looked at game to game stats. Nope. I watched him play in high profile games against good teams. Looking at his stats, they were not anywhere near what a QB you would draft were. Then I found a report that showed against the top 4-5 defenses he played, he completed 48% of his passes. I realize that was his junior year, and I know his senior year was cut short due to injury, nothing I saw made me think he had anything. I was sort of surprised he went in round 3. BTW, all 3 QBs for Pitt combined to complete 81% of their passes. Mason Rudolph was 10/11. Howard was 7/9 and Aller was 10/13. Aller did have TD passes of 4 & 5 yards and a TD rush. Remember a lot of our fans being excited about Brandon Weeden and DTR due to Pre season?

Allar looked really decisive with the ball. That was a issue of his at PSU.
But what he did at PSU is irrelevant now . Hes a rookie .he will make mistakes .
But his very small sample size looks a heckuva lot better than Gabriel's or Sanders at this point .

And Carson Beck looked like he's vying for MVP in his first preseason outing.

The Bears are in year two of Dennis Allen’s defense while the Browns have a new DC. New system, new communication, new terminology and new adjustments to learn.

Couldn't that have a direct impact on how "green" the backups look in the first preseason game? First team likely getting a lot more meaningful reps in practice.
