If Monken names DW the starter.

IMO the fans should not attend the home games.

Let's get personal. For him to say the boos are not performance based is a total lack of accountability.

If DW with all that has transpired with him being in Cleveland thinks he deserves better. Think again DW.

You turned the Browns down until Haslam guaranteed the money. You were suspended for eleven games.

You played bad football. You played in 19 games in four years. Did you earn the money you have made?

Let me tell you jerk off. If you played well and won games the fans would have cheered you.

No, it is not nice to boo when a player is injured. When you play well and the team wins. They will not boo. But the fans know the full story DW. So if you can't handle the heat. Quit.

I did not want Shedeur, the holes in his game was huge. Refusal to step into the pocket. Unable to quickly go through progressions. Sloppy feet. I have seen enough improvment in each of those areas to give him the shot.

Watson, never wanted him. Mentally was done for when he got here and the shoulder injuries are gonna return. He had bills defenders in a soft zone guys sitting down perfectly and his eyes were down. Done for. Would cut Watson and not look back. Rather kerp shedeur and Gabriel with Grern.

First two games are on the road. The second against Baker.....If TB wins that one, it'll be an interesting several days on the twitter streets. If the Browns play well, it too, will be interesting on those same streets. Either way, get that popcorn ready.

Me thinks Monken's honeymoon phase has been a short one.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Mourgrym, I could not have stated what you wrote any better. Watson is a POS who now thinks he is a victim. That type of guy is CANCER in a locker room. Not a huge fan of Sanders but he appears to have improved his game. He has won the battle and deserves his chance with the improved players around him.

Such a reflection of the ineptness by the ownership and GM .
Both signed off on the worst trade in NFL history.
Then the GM wastes 2 draft picks on QBs last year . And neither is franchise QB
Material.
Meanwhile instead of AB trying to fix a trainwreck of a QB room
And asking if say a Joe Milton is available...he rather go foward with this QB room .
Yet he still has a job . Unreal

On top of that Monken made the decision to start DW. We're off to another wonderful start in 2026!

The decision to start Watson was determined weeks ago and I think we all pretty much know that. What happened Saturday didn't adjust that mindset from Monken. However, I think it did it impact the leash Watson has as the starter. His margin for error is smaller based on this comments plus the reaction the Browns now know could easily happen again.

Side note: That Watson PC was bad, obviously. But that Sanders' 7 minute one mid-game was cringy in its own way. I literally had to walk away from the TV and do something else because I felt awkward watching it. I came back and it was still going on.....I couldn't believe it they let it carry on. That said, I probably would have shut off the TV if I watched the post-game coverage.

Obviously, the guy who signs the checks is not ready to admit he made the worst trade in NFL history.

There is only one opinion that matters in Cleveland and his thumb has been on the scale since a QB competition was announced. Monken is more or less cover for Haslam to continue to act as if he knows something about NFL football..especially his ability to judge QB talent.

The buck stops at the top in Cleveland and those Browns fans that believe their opinion matters...welcome to the real Cleveland Browns. To Jimmy Haslam, his family and the Haslam group, Browns fans and their opinions are meaningless.

Will Browns fans revolt and stay home..?

I doubt it... especially if the Browns win a few games.

Don't forget, Haslam has a secondary goal to lose enough games to have a chance to draft Arch Manning. Watson could fit nicely to help Haslam reach his 2027 draft goal.

.

Think this nails it 100%.

I see another season with a minimum of 3 different starting QBs by the end of the year.

Owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam met with local media during the Annual League Meeting on Monday and candidly admitted their error.

“We took a big swing and miss with Deshaun," Jimmy Haslam told reporters, via Cleveland.com. "We thought we had the quarterback, we didn't and we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him. So we've got to dig ourselves out of that hole. (It) was an entire organization decision and it ends with Dee and I, so hold us accountable.”

The first line of your post on which the rest of your post was predicated on is totally false. That explains it all in totality. What we are witnessing is why Monken at his age has never been hired as an NFL HC before. If you want to blame Haslam for that have at it.

I see it as the practical decision. Sanders is not ready. He's just a 5th rounder so expecting him to be the savior of the team is unreasonable. Maybe he will grow into it? We can hope. But if you gotta toss a QB into the wood chipper that will be this season, Watson is a perfectly acceptable sacrifice. He's gone next year so who cares if we get him hurt? None of our QBs this year are going to lead us to the Promised Land.

The Sanders PR machine would be in high gear by the second game placing blame everywhere but on him. That's kind of a problem for me. His media buzz is far outstripping his ability to produce.

Apparently SS is not the future.

I don't get this on any level. One would think Monken would know better.

What has he seen to come to this conclusion? There must be a lot we don't see from practice. Practice?

I am stunned - really. DW press meltdown? Frankly, I would pay him to stay home.

I need help understanding this. If in fact he will be released when the timing is right next year. Then factor in what he said that "he doesn't know if he can handle the boos at home"?

His complete lack of accountability.

He is the starter?

I pity the fans of this trainwreck

Pit..above is "your opinion"...

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE WRONG..!!

I'm clearly referring to the QB competition 2026 while you post 2025 information unrelated to the subject I referred to...kind of like moving the goal posts to start your argument, huh..?

My point is simple...Haslam has not stopped trying to lose the title for the WORST TRADE IN NFL HISTORY and still believes he can salvage something from the Watson trade he made.

More truth. ^

And from Albert Breer: The other thing that I've said all along, it's easier to go from Watson to Sanders than the other way around. If this doesn't work, Cleveland can pivot.

Watson is getting thrown to the wolves. When Baker mops the floor with him, Shedeur will get the red-carpet treatment from the fans in week 3. At that point he's had every opportunity; physically, psychologically, emotionally, to come out and shine. No excuses left to be had.

I don't want to see DW play anymore than the next Browns fan but IMO it's the prudent decision. #1 it's easier to go from DW to SS. #2 two difficult road games to start the season. There's a very good chance we will lose the 1st 2 with all our new personnel especially the OL. #3 If DW plays badly it's a good excuse to start SS in our 1st home game or at least put him in later in that game if DW plays lousy. It looks like they want DW to take the lumps and go from there.

A direct quote from Jimmy Haslam isn't an opinion. Here was your accusation......

Quote
Obviously, the guy who signs the checks is not ready to admit he made the worst trade in NFL history.

Here is the statement from Halslam admitting what a huge mistake it was and how it put the Browns in a hole.................

Quote
Owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam met with local media during the Annual League Meeting on Monday and candidly admitted their error.

“We took a big swing and miss with Deshaun," Jimmy Haslam told reporters, via Cleveland.com. "We thought we had the quarterback, we didn't and we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him. So we've got to dig ourselves out of that hole. (It) was an entire organization decision and it ends with Dee and I, so hold us accountable.”

https://www.nfl.com/news/browns-own...a-big-swing-and-miss-with-deshaun-watson

Please explain how any of that is an opinion? It appears to me the only opinion posed here was the false claim you made regarding how Haslam didn't admit what a huge mistake signing watson was.

The Haslams aren’t serious owners.

They were born into wealth beyond imagination, yet somehow they continue to run this franchise like natural-born idiots. They deserve absolutely nothing from the fans, and at this point I can only hope karma eventually catches up with them.

Andrew Berry deserves his share of the blame too. Five of his six seasons have been filled with drama, controversy and disappointment. During his time in charge, the Browns have been a laughing stock more often than not.

And what makes it even more impressive — in the worst possible way — is that Berry inherited a roster talented enough to compete for championships. Somehow, instead of building on that foundation, we’ve ended up back in the same old Browns circus.

Todd Monken? So far he looks like nothing more than a yes-man. What a disappointment.

Being a Browns supporter is hard enough as it is. With the Haslams, Berry and Monken running the show, it’s almost impossible unless you’re willing to lie to yourself every now and then and pretend that this time things are going to be different.

Same drama. Same dysfunction. Same Browns.

To the mods. Please ban me some time if you think I’m going to far.

You’re right but….

Jimmy Haslam wasn’t born a billionaire, but he certainly didn’t start from scratch. He joined his father’s already successful family business, Pilot, and eventually controlled a stake worth billions. He helped grow the company significantly, but the foundation, opportunity and ownership came from the family business.

Opportunities are only as helpful as what one makes of them. I get it, some people never get those opportunities. But still so many get those type of opportunities and squander them. I'm certainly not a Haslam pimp and never have been. But at the same time pretending that making the most of your opportunities isn't a huge accomplishment in and of itself is short sighted.
