Well, that sucked.

Ive watched the Browns for over 50 years and never left early or turn the TV off. It's only one game but this group has done nothing good and looks like a crummy college team. I hope we lose out and take the next great savior of a QB we can ruin. Of course they will pick the WRONG QB anyway

Very predictable. This team is atrocious.

- The Browns and their radio partners (show hosts) at 92.3 and 850, tried desperately to hoodwink the fans into convincing everyone that Watson was the best choice to play. Watson is beyond garbage.

- The defense is terrible. Lawrence absolutely shredded this defense and the Jags could have scored 50 points without breaking much of a sweat had they wanted to.

- Completely undisciplined and sloppy play. I expected this after seeing Freddy 2.0 have temper tantrums in TC and ending practices early.

- Nothing redeemable about this game. They are a JV organization from top to bottom.

- Congrats to Todd for fleecing Haslam out of millions of dollars. That will be some incredible thoroughbreds and training for his horse racing passion.

As Andy says, "there are 16 more opportunities."

I am disappointed, too. But part of our reason for guarded optimism coming in was the general consensus that Jacksonville isn’t really as good as they looked last year. Well, maybe they are. Maybe we just got manhandled by a legitimate 13-4 team on the road.

Defense looked like it did in preseason. Slow and alot of missed tackles.

Our offensive line could not get a push in the running game at all.

Watson played just like i expected him to.

My original prediction for this game was 38-10 jags. I was close unfortunately

We didn't look like we belonged on the field with the Jags.

The defense looked really bad. No push off the ball.

DW is horrible. Fumbled twice and could have easily gotten intercepted more than he did. Delay of game calls. How could this guy beat SS out?

Both lines got pushed around. Loads of penalties.

Monken I am sure is really disappointed in how poorly the team looked.

I think it's all been summed up already.

DW is hot garbage.
Both lines got out physical-ed.
We miss Scwartz as a D co-ordinator because the D looked inept.

Ihad low-ish expectations and yet the Browns managed to stll underperform by some margin against those.

I got an idea. Let’s hire a rookie head coach, strip the 4th best best defense in the league and start an over-the-hill washed up quarterback by behind a first year o-line and win the Super Bowl said no Browns fan ever.

DW was not an ALL PRO, but posters have said correctly JAGs owned both lines- Conception fumbles and loses ball great field position for Jags. NO ONE could cover JAGS Washington, he smoked us all day. No pressure on QB from our line.......game over in first Qt.....obvious better team won.

Baker had two fumbles for Bucs, scooped up for six points and fumbled into the end zone-- lost by six, 50 mil QB cost them the game.

Just a quick, obvious recap. Most of you already covered it. If DW won this QB competition then it's obvious the Browns have no QB. But is anyone really surprised by that?

Both lines looked terrible. Sampson is hurt which hopefully won't be for long. We'll find out later this week.

Boston looked better than KC. The Browns couldn't run the ball either. With this QB room if you can't run thr ball you won't be able to do anything on O.

The only thing I'm left with is hope. And yes, hope is what you're left with when there is nothing else to cling to. But anyway....

Some of us, myself included said we felt the season would start out poorly. This poorly? Maybe not. Okay no, not this poorly.

The reason being is so much in the way of new personnel combined with an entire new coaching staff. The OL is completely new and has no experience working as a unit. That will take time to gel. At the same time it was pointed out just how poorly the FA signings on the OL were rated in run blocking and with this QB room, if you can't run the ball you just added insult to injury.

They have an entire new coaching staff on both sides of the ball at every position. Entire new systems on both sides of the ball. With an established system you have veterans that can work with and be an example in familiarizing the rookies and new FA signings and makes their transition easier and more fluid. This team currently has none of that.

So the only hope I have left in my bag of tricks is with all those things being considered, the Browns will improve as the season progresses. That the players will become familiar with the O and D systems to the point they can execute them with some degree of competence.

Am I confident any of that will happen? No. Do I believe the odds of that happening are good? No.

But that's all I have left and all I had going into today.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Without accountability, nothing will change. Losing has become part of the Browns’ DNA, and if we want things to change, heads have to roll.

All the talk about successful draft picks means nothing if the overall product still isn’t good enough.

At some point, the excuses stop making sense. We are what the results say we are—it’s that simple.

And I feel so sorry for all you older fans who have endured this for decades. You deserve so much more.

Just replying to your last sentence. Thanks but I feel sorry for the younger fans. At least we had Bernie and got to experience losing AFC championship games. I beg for just that now.

The younger fans haven't even got to see a division title. I'm 50 and was in 8th grade the last time we won the divison lol

For everyone crying about Schwartz not being here blah blah the defense blah blah
Let's give the Jags credit. Its a good offense Schwartz feasted on weak offenses and middle of the road QBs.
Jim Schwartz isnt Buddy Ryan . Last time I checked
Hes unemployed right now .

The Browns front office simply failed to upgrade the QB position this year .there was options better than Watson .but dont worry Mary Kay Kool Aid
And Nathan the Super Homer will paint a sunshine and lollipops picture
This week .

Going to be a long season. I say leave Watson out there. Let him get relentlessly ridiculed by the fans.

The game day thread stopped working for me which was symbolic of the game ... I mean, we are HORRIBLE. Yeah, we all know we'd be bad, but that was literally the worst game I can remember us playing since 99.

The talk will be on DW and the offense ... but the defense is HORRENDOUS compared to what we've seen. Unwatchable in every way.

We were never destined to win more than 5 games, but this is going to be a brutal, brutal few months. 0-2 wins is almost guaranteed.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

The outcome isn't a surprise. I did expect to see more life out of the team.

It's only 1 game, but it isn't looking good.

I expected more life out of the team too. It felt like once Watson threw that first INT we folded

Hate to say it... I couldn't be happier with the results. The Browns likely will be in a position to grab a top QB in the draft. Their FA list is pretty small and should have around 25-26mill to resign/sign players in the offseason. It's the trainwreck we need before we can have a serious football team again.

FA's:

Deshaun Watson
Maliek Collins
Teven Jenkins
Ronnie Hickman
Derek Barnett
Kalia Davis
Corey Bojorquez
Dawand Jones
Tylan Wallace
Michael Burton
Noah Igbinoghene
Kendrick Green
Blake Whiteheart
Sam Williams
Damarri Mathis
Isaiah McGuire
Luke Wypler

They may also need a new set of coaches too...

I expected us to lose. I even expected us to be bad.

This was so much worse than I expected. I previously had felt this was a 5-win season.
I think our high water mark sits around 3-wins, now.... and that may be ambitious.

At least one good thing, I got outside to cut the grass before the rain.

I didn't think we would be this bad-but I did tell my son after he bought me tickets for my birthday a couple weeks for the Atlanta game after his midterms are over that he should have waited a few weeks and he could have bought tickets for 2 or 3 games for what he spent for the falcons in August.

Oh how i wish Versatile Dawg and Eotab were around . Eotab would proclaim how the Browns are a playoff team and how genius Berry is ..snd Versatile Dawg would put him in his place.
Heck where's Over Toad at ?

This team is 3 years away from being 3 years away . Any change in fortunes starts with

There's a name for people like that - it begins with a C and ends in a T. I don't think I've met many better examples of such.

The morning after - I am most disapointed with Monken and how sloppy and ill-prepared the team were. We had a (virtually) penalty free preseason game which I took as a good sign, this game was the opposite. If this sort of performance continues then the Freddy comparisons will be apt and on the money.

I can watch a well coached team with a bad QB struggle through the season and grin and bear it. I don't know if I can stomach watching a team struggle while also enduring incompetant coaching each week.

You don't like 1st & 30s or 2nd & 34s? What kind of masochist are you?

I was hoping for one more in that stretch just to see if we could get to 40 yards in penalties before 3rd down.

Sadly I am sure that we've seen that before - possibly inside the 20 yard line - within the last 5 or 6 years.

I wonder what the dynamic is like in the organization? I can see Jimmy and Berry being more than happy going 1-16 or 2-15 and getting the first pick in the draft. I can see Monken wanting to win any/every game... I didn't want to believe that Monken was taking orders to start Watson ... but having watched that game, the delayed penalties, failed execution etc, it's really hard to believe Sanders is worse.

I don't think they're happy with that road, bro. They'll be armed to get the QB just by having two 1s. Nobody in this biz wants to kick a season to the curb unless they're stripping down to the studs.

I think Monken just wanted to give the "pro" his last shot. Put up or shut up and we can be done. I think that Shedeur being a basic mental-man-child helped make that an easy decision to start the season. Whether you like him or not, it is a lot for a first time HC to walk in and see a QB room that may as well be a clown car. And yes, he wants to win as well.
