Lamar is done for the year.
His contract ends after this season. He has a no trade and no franchise clause. He will count for $85m.
Has he played his last down for the Ravens?
Lamar is in total control. He can do whatever he wants to do. He is twenty-nine.
Can a team have a good roster paying a player that much money?
Teams with need at quarterback include:
Jets, Dolphins, Steelers, Browns, Colts, Cardinals, (maybe Falcons, Vikings, Eagles, Titans).
Trying to be objective which team would represent the most promise to Lamar?
What would he consider to be important? Which coach would he like to play for? What team has the best nucleus of young talent especially at receiver?
Is there a stadium he would prefer? Does a particular city appeal to him? He grew up in Pompano Beach.
Would the Browns want him?

out of all of the teams listed, maybe the Steelers would be the only one I'd choose over the Ravens if I were him.
I've always felt there's more going on behind the scenes in Baltimore when it comes to him - injuries linger, things aren't communicated well, ambiguous reporting, etc
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Boston is far to the left as KC settles into the slot. Fannin is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Sampson are split in the backfield as the ball is hiked ... Here we go."

I just feel like dude is getting run down. He's injured all the time and probably losing his zest for the game because of that. Just a guess on my part.
Let's be honest though, nothing cures the psychological part like a change in venue.

Lamar is a great player. He is still a young man.
I believe he has the desire to win and wants to win a Super Bowl. Injuries are a part of the game and they are random.
However, it is true he has been injured a lot. Partly because he is a running quarterback. Big guys hurt little guys.
The big question to me is the money. He will make $85m. That would represent about 28% of a normal roster's salary.
In standard NFL roster construction, a single player taking up 25% to 28% of the team's cap hits historical extremes. Most elite QBs take up around 15% to 20% of their team's cap in active seasons.
That kind of chokes the rest of the roster.
The Ravens have not got it done with Lamar. Maybe it is time for a divorce.

But if you push the payments down the road until his contract is over and he leaves it won't cost that much.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I always said that eventually all that running and those hits resulting from it will take their toll. It's come to fruition.

Yes, he's a good QB; but the magic of Lamar is the dual threat. Those days aren't over but he's on the back nine now. I'm not down with a blockbuster contract for that QB. I feel like that could derail (again) what seems like a pretty solid plan. TBH though, I'm so beaten down from our constant bad luck in this category that I'm probably scared of every option lol. But hey, let's say he hates the Ravens and wants revenge in the AFC North on a reasonable contract? Is there really a better option? What I don't want is to be Sucker #3 in a bidding war for Lamar Jackson. No thanks.

I feel for the guy. And he may certainly be jaded ... and there is definitely some bad juju there at Baltimore with Lamar.
Lamar has 5 times the moves DW has ... and he has improved as a passer. I'd be more than happy to take a run at him. We sign Lamar - and the draft becomes 2 top OL in the first round. I'd think if the Browns show some improvement under Monken there won't be too many better places he could land.
KC, Watson, Fannin. That's a good core already. You can add to that with a high pick if it would make Lamar happy. We have 2 rookies on the OL playing well - we can add to that with 2 high picks. Judkins and Sampson are a good RB combo if not elite. I'd say that's attractive. You get 4 good years out of him I think - you play him a little like DW. Keep the running to a minimum, but maybe roll him out a good amount of time to add a dimension to the passing game.
** Edit ... if he or his agent say he doesn't want to be in CLE ... move on.

The Ravens have not got it done with Lamar. Maybe it is time for a divorce. That isn't his going rate, it's the dead money owed from his contract ending... Similar to Watson's dead cap coming to fruition in 2027/2028 Post June 1st designation.

What is strange about this is Lamar does not have an agent.
Yet he is in total control. He can do exactly what we wants.
Lamar and Monken worked well together.
I don't see him in Cleveland. We still have to pay DW. I also don't believe Berry wants to take on his contract.
Ideally we draft a good QB and get that four contract with a 5th year option at the going rate which is around $11m per year average.
I don't know where this will end but it will be interesting.

The cost of an NFL quarterback's fifth-year option ranges from roughly $22.5 million to over $50.3 million, depending on the player's performance, playtime, and Pro Bowl selections. https://overthecap.com/fifth-year-option-projections

So if his contract is up, why would the $85 M count against a team that signs him? The question is serious. Unless I am interpreting your statement, it sounds like you are implying no matter what he signs for, that team takes an $85 cap hit? Or am I not understanding? Sorry to be so dense , but cap rules can be a bit crazy sometimes.

He probably has spread his contract out with dead years, like DeShawn did for the Browns.
I am unsure how the cap works in regard to these dead cap years.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

I am unsure how the cap works in regard to these dead cap years. I assumed the dead cap for spreading it out counted against the team that issued the contract. When people suggested trading Watson, the block was we would owe his dead cap right away, at least that's what many people ( FB posters, other online media people etc) commented.

Actually his contract ends after the 2027 NFL season, making him a free agent in March 2028.

I watched "Get Up" this morning and it was a topic.
They asked the question is he done in Baltimore?
I don't know all the ins and outs. They made it sound like his time with the Ravens may be over.

What they were saying on "First Take" was players don't want to go into their final contract year without an extension.
And the team "Baltimore" may want to trade him while they can rather than letting him walk and get nothing in return letting him play out next year.
Lamar would have to approve the trade and they cannot franchise him.
