So let’s talk a little bit about the defense.

- McNeil-Warren this dude is fun to watch. Very few players had a good game on the defense. He was one of them that played well. He does a good job of shooting in, filling gaps, and tackling.

- What the flip was wrong with our tackling. It was terrible. There were quite a few plays were it should’ve been a loss or no gain, instead it went for big gains.

- lots of hero ball was being played instead of doing their assignments. Carson was burnt on the same damn WR screen twice that went for big gains by Washington. Once in the second quarter thrown to the right. Once in the 3rd or 4th quarter for a huge gain/almost TD by Washington thrown to the left. Each time Carson biting on the pump fake.

- Carson wasn’t the only one there were others. I’ll get to that in a moment.

- I’m definitely no expert when it comes to football, but if I had to guess what the Saints running game plan will be…RB dives right up the middle.

Imaginary person asking me a question so I can make this more dramatic and add a bad joke: So dives and trap plays?
Me: Dives yes. Trap plays are designed to lure a player out of position, no need we will already be out of position.

- so to go off my bad zinger; holy heck our front defensive line is playing so wide (the spacing. I understand the reasoning on obvious passing downs. However I do not understand the reasoning on running downs. Let’s paint the picture (visually from behind the Steelers left to right): TE, LT, LG, C, RG, RT. Verse is about 2-3 yards wide of the TE, Graham is right over the LT, Collins is over the RG, McGuire is about 4 yards wide outside of the RT.

Hopefully the visual above is clear. Now to add with this our DTs are shooting straight ahead 2-4 yards deep. Generally speaking, what is the job of DTs? Cause havoc and take on blockers so the LBs can roam free. Well…if the DTs are shooting up field (not sucking up blockers) and (from my visual above) the Center and LG do not have anyone in front of them…guess what is going to happen to our LBs?

Like I said, I do not know the reasoning or answer. Just providing what I saw on quite a few playing especially on that 3rd and forever run.

We are arriving back from a day out at some training. I’ll try to add some more later
