The parents left a 16 year old that looks and behaves like that alone while they went out of town? I think the focus needs to be more on them than him.

No, she probably was thinking like I was. Meaning kids today don't have respect for anything. He was showing none, and she was trying to make him look like a retard. Which he pretty much was.

I am older than that kid but I'm not an old fart. He was just a moron. We live in a society today that is heavily influenced by television and the internet. Reality tv, Youtube, people want to be famous. People want to be on TV. They want people to notice them. He's just a disrespectful little (fill in the blank) who is getting his 15 minutes.

That kid was probably higher than a kite, that's why he wasn't taking off the glasses.

Good to see America isn't the only place where stupidity is news.

Party teen facing child porn charges
Wednesday Jan 16 20:00 AEDT
A 16-year-old boy is facing charges of producing child pornography and creating a public nuisance following a wild party in Melbourne's outer suburbs last weekend.

The teenager and another 16-year-old boy were arrested on Wednesday and questioned by police over their role in the party, which ended with police cars and neighbours' property being damaged.

Up to 30 police officers, a police helicopter and the dog squad were sent to the venue on Saturday night after neighbours raised the alarm.

The event, which was advertised by SMS and on internet social networking site MySpace, attracted as many as 500 revellers and has made news around the world.

"Detectives have interviewed two 16-year-old youths over incidents on the weekend. One male has been charged with producing child pornography and creating a public nuisance," a police statement read.

The first boy had been bailed to appear at a children's court on February 22, while a brief was being prepared in relation to the other boy, the statement added.

The arrests capped a mad four days with the law finally catching up with one of the youths, who has become a media celebrity.

The teenage party host - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was initially unrepentant about the affair, adopting a cavalier attitude towards authorities and his parents, who at the time were on holiday interstate, as he cultivated his new-found fame.

He maintained a public profile, appearing on television and radio as well as spending time at the beach with friends, and making international headlines.

But on Wednesday, police made sure he was kept out of the public spotlight.

After a nearly five-hour grilling at Narre Warren police station, the teen was bundled into the front passenger seat of a marked squad car, which left at high speed, shaking off a pack of pursuing media cars.

Earlier this week, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon lambasted the teenager for his lack of remorse and threatened to bill him up to $20,000 for damages and the cost of deploying police.

His parents - who also cannot be named for legal reasons - met with police on Tuesday and said: "We think he should be punished. We have our own views on what should happen and will discuss it with the police."

I think the cops were just looking for a legit. excuse to nail this guy. The aftermath has been over the top and he's made several public appearances.

Also to put the interview that the first poster displayed into context, A Current Affair (and it's rival Today Tonight) are the worst shows on TV...just agenda driven sensationalist drivel.....I watched a promo once of "Australian Outrage of American Slur on Vegemite"....turned out to be some random kid on a home made tirade on you tube.... they spent 10 mins of air time trying to turn it into a major International incident.

Oh by the way, this kid has had job offers for promotional work for between 2 and 10k a pop....police are looking for 20k in costs for the resources spent to resolve the situation.

This kids unbelievable..........He has no sense of empathy whatsoever.

The sense of understanding what others think and feel is one thing I do believe is probably a major part of growing up (I'm 22 and close to being a certified HS teacher, and still maturing through adolescent stupidity). But yeah, completely engulfed in himself, that's for sure.

Now I wonder who the hell is stupid enough to pay this kid to plan their party. Planning a party isn't hard. You wait till your parents leave or some other kids family leaves, go and get your friend's older brother to buy a couple kegs (sell 5 dollars a cup), bring a couple tables (beirut/beerpong), bring some hard alcohol, set your stereo up.

They'll show up with the cigarettes and weed and generally more alcohol.

Got yourself a great party, lol. It's not that hard. I've had the cops called on my parties multiple times also, given there weren't 500 people there but there could have been. I just wasn't that stupid.......... I wasn't going to get some 20,000 dollar fine.

Not saying that highschool drinking parties are good in any way either, just saying this kid is nothing special. Don't see why anyone would pay him. I'll throw a great party, and it seems to me Mr. Derden would as well, with that kind of money

Funny thing is all he did was advertise a party on free websites. Not like he organized some huge affair. It just turned into a big party, which happens more than people think with MySpace and stuff.

I love the whole.... "Kids these days" type crap. People have said that since the dawn of time. And every generation says, I know that but these ones today are that much worse...

What did you expect this kid to do? Cry like a baby on TV in front of all of his friends? He handled it about as well as any kid that would throw that kind of party would.

He looks like a moron, but now he's famous

producing child pornography? Why was there never mention of this before? In that youtube clip, all they said what happened was neighbor's and police property got damaged. Where does this pornography charge come from? And if this is a new development, why does the story not go into more detail about it?

Sounds like they're just tacking on some stupid charge because a drunk high school girl probably flashed them or something.

My thoughts exactly. Took a pic of some high school chic flashing her boobs. Even if it was more than that I don't have that big of a problem with it considering it can be assumed to be someone their age, and they're under 18 themselves.
