Quote: A Cult film is usually a film that went straight to DVD or didn't do well in the theater, but has a good following after the fact.
A Film that is 10 or more years old, but you remember the first time you watched it like it was yesterday.
A Film you watched or watch over and over again and never grow tired of it.
I think people need to think about what a cult film is before throwing up favorite movie titles. Fight Club was a successful movie that received a lot of media attention when it was released. I don't see how that could be considered "cult".
Good job on the first point, in white. I think the last two points can be used for any type of film though.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
ok, I only said Fight Club because someone else mentioned it and it does happen to be up there as one of my favs. Ok, what about THX 1138 with Robert Duvall? I think it was Geoge Lucas' first film. It was a horrible movie but I watch it every time its on Sci Fi channel.
FF is right...a lot of people are just throwing out movies they like...
some of mine...
Raising Arizona..."What about his dip-tet, honey? We gotta get his dip-tet!"
Johnny Dangerously..."Farging icehole!"
Big Trouble in Little China..."What does that say?"..."Hell of Boiling Oil"..."You're kidding"..."Yeah, I am. It says Keep Out."
Best in Show..."God loves a terrier"
Being John Malcovich..."Meet you in Malkovich in one hour. "
High Fidelity..."We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Dazed and Confused..."Party at the moontower"
Up in Smoke (thanks GM)..."You mean we're smoking dog...?"
Suicide Kings..."You're pretty funny for a guy with nine fingers. "
Four Rooms..."Problem? I haven't got a problem. I've got...problems. Plural."
JULES...
my wife is in the Overboard cult...if i see it in the guide, i immediately 'page down' past that set of channels before she sees it...
I'd have to go with "Clue" ... seems like very few people have seen it, and those who have can recite it word for word. Probably one of the better "quote movies" out there.

They are inclusive rules...If the first applies, then move to the second, then the third. Iff all 3 apply, you have a cult film.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.
OK ... maybe not a cult classic ..... but it was so stupid it was hilarious.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
Derek Zoolander: Rufus, Brint, and Meekus were like brothers to me. And when I say brother, I don't mean, like, an actual brother, but I mean it like the way black people use it. Which is more meaningful I think. If there is anything that this horrible tragedy can teach us, it's that a male model's life is a precious, precious commodity. Just because we have chiseled abs and stunning features, it doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

Quote: I wouldn't consider Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, or The Big Lebowski to be cult films anymore. So I'll go with... King of New York
Actually, I'd still consider them cult movies by which they have a pretty good loyal fanbase which is relatively small and yes may have branch out a little more into mainstream, but are relatively still cult status.

Quote: Here's one for you Punch, "Alice's Restaurant".......Remember seeing that in the theaters?
"Mel, kiss my grits!" Oh that crazy Flo!
Close Punch, but not that one. You are thinking of "Alice" the TV show or "Alice doesn't live here Anymore". ..I am more inline with Arlo Guthrie's "song to film" Alice's Restaurant"......

I simply LOVE that movie, it's so classic. You can watch it many many times and yet, it doesn't get old.
"I have something to say. I'm not gonna wait for Wadsworth here to unmask me. I work for the State Department, and I'm a homosexual. I feel no personal shame or guilt about this, but I must keep it a secret, or I will lose my job on security grounds."
[Wadsworth]:"Your former husband disappeared under let's say unusual circumstances!?" "That was his job, he was an illusionist" [Wadsworth]: "But he never reappeared!" Mrs. White, "He wasn't a very good illusionist." Wadsworth: You were jealous that your husband was schtocking Yvette, that's why you killed him too. Mrs. White: Yes.
Mrs. White: Yes, I did it, I killed Yvette. I hated her, so much... That... it... it... flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, heathing... breathle - , heathing breaths. Heathing breath...
See ... like I said, the few that have seen it, love it! (and usually can spout off about a dozen lines.) The definition of a cult classic.
I told one guy I know from this board to go rent it, and after a couple of months of ignoring me, he finally went out and rented it. The next week he had a new signature on a different message board we use .. "A plant? I thought men like you were usually called a fruit!"
and a few more for the heck of it ...
"Nobody. No body, that's what we mean. Mr. Boddy's body, it's gone!"
"The Kingdom of heaven is at hand ... you ain't just whistlin' dixie".
"And monkey brains, although popular in Cantonese cuisine, is not often to be found in Washington D.C ... Is that what we ate? *hurk*"
"We always get our man ... Mrs. Peacock was a man!??! *slap* *slap*"
"It's a free country, don't you know that? ... I didn't know it was THAT free."
"Professor Plum, you were once a professor of psychiatry specializing in helping paranoid and homicidal lunatics suffering from delusions of grandeur. ... Yes, but now I work for the United Nations. ... So your work has not changed."
Thats such a great film. Just because of how far out it is. Movies like that were far and few between at that point, and most werent as twisted as Roger Waters' creation. Its so good.
What about Kingpin? the Woody Harrelson movie? Thats gotta be culty, cuz few people like it
Beerfest and Super Troopers are huge for me
The Big Lebowski has been mentioned.
hmmm...Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters...is hilarious.
"It has to start somewhere It has to start somehow What better place than here? What better time than now?"
