Hadnot is versatile (RG/C) and durable (played all 16 games 3 seasons straight) while the same can't be said about Tucker or McKinney. He'd be a decent insurance policy. Gotta be better than Sowells.

Didn't realize he played at all!

I looked up his game stats on Yahoo and saw there was nothing listed at all. I thought that meant he didn't play a game -- but, then I looked up Joe Thomas and it looks like he didn't play either...

Having watched Hadnot pretty often, I'd rather not sign him as a starter. To be blunt, the times I saw him play, he got owned.

No thanks.

No, I meant for depth, not as a starter. I'd assume Tuck would stay at RG and Hank would be the center. An insurance policy (backup) if someone goes down.

I got it, Dev. That's why I said "as a starter."

Free agent DL Travis LaBoy canceled his visit to the Saints, staying in Cleveland.
It appears a deal with the Browns isn't far off for LaBoy.

If LaBoy signs, it is going to help our D.

Look at this DL/LB corp.

DL: Shaun Rogers / Robaire Smith / Corey Williams
LB: D'Qwell Jackson / Leon Williams / Kamerion Wimbley / Travis LaBoy (I'd also like to keep Chaun Thompson and add him to the mix)

As a team, we had a paltry 28 sacks while giving up an even more paltry 19 sacks. I expect that our defense will increase their sack totals by at least 25% and bring that total up from 28 to 35 or more.

If Bentley comes back, we might even give up fewer than the franchise low 19 sacks we surrendered last year.

It's a good time to be a Browns fan and we are getting some respect before a season for the first time since before the team was yanked from us by Satan.

Man, I'm really hoping we resign Friedman and McKinney. I know we should always be looking to upgrade, but these guys have great chemistry on this team, and play to their roles perfectly. And if McKinney didn't go down, it's likely he would have logged 16 games as a starter.

I know McKinney's injury history is a little concern, but he was virtually unscathed until that shoulder thing.

I just really like the makeup of these guys, and I love how they fit on this team.

Resign the both of them and let's be done with it.

I don't know how great it is. LaBoy is a project guy, not a proven one. Who's to say he's going to be any better than a washed-up McGinnest or a pure pass-rushing Peek?

I'll wait and see.........

We said that last year with Peek. Sounds like LaBoy has experience in a 3-4, but I don't know enough about him or seen enough of him to know that our pass rush will improve like we hope. But regardless, it's nice to see Phil so active, and also knowing where to address our needs.

Unlike previous management, Phil gets it. He's not plugging in guys here or there, he's built a foundation.

Yeah, I know. The point I was trying to make is he didn't seem to always have some nagging injury hanging over his head. It seems like some guys always have something, and he seemed to be just trucking along until the shoulder thing.

But man, I think we are set if we could keep him and Friedman as backups. I imagine even if McKinney resigns, Tucker is still starting. I'd have no worries with McKinney having to step in if needed. I thought he played well last year.

He's been here, knows the system, was part of a great OL for the first half of the season. I'm actually surprised it's not getting done, honestly. There must be something that Savage and Co. just don't have a good feeling about, and it could be the injury thing.

Don't know, just seems like he is a good fit here.

Defensive end Travis LaBoy is scheduled to visit with the Arizona Cardinals today.

LaBoy, who’s played the past four seasons with the Titans, was initially scheduled to visit New Orleans today, but the visit was mutually canceled. He visited the Cleveland Browns on Friday.

LaBoy finished with 6 sacks last season for the Titans, where he totaled 19.5 sacks over the past four seasons.

He became an unrestricted free agent on Friday. The Titans remain interested in re-signing him.

My sentiments exactly. I don't know if I see this as a major upgrade over what we have here. He could be great or he could be worse or equal to WM and Peak *shrugs*........who knows. I personally would have prefered a guy who didn't have to be taught the position like CH from Pittsburgh, but we shall see I suppose.

My only concern about Haggans is the "Pittsburgh effect."

Aka once they leave they're never the same again.

Don't forget Vrable, he's terrible as well.

Yes, NE converted him to OLB.

We are just giving ammo a hard time.

Toad what i'm looking at is as a situational pass rusher as an undersized DE he had 6-7 sacks last year. 19 1/2 in the last 4 yrs. If we put him in space with C Williams in front of him there's a good possibility someone is getting to the QB. Even it they don't pressure him into making a bad throw. Win win either way. So yes i see this as a good signing. OK maybe not great..

Please say no to Haggans. Believe me, I see all the Steeler games, and Haggans is not that good. The Steelers are getting rid of him for a reason. He is no James Harrison, and is half the player Larry Foote is. I hope Savage passes on him. He is just a guy, Farrior, Foote and Harrison are the studs

I never said that I thought he was a stud. What do you think we are getting with Laboy??? Certainly more of a question mark than a stud. That was my point CH knows the 34 and has been decent in it for a number of years. Thus imo a much better option for a stop gap OLB than another project like Laboy. I would agree that Laboy probably has more upside, but again imo I want someone who is ready day 1, and isn't on the job learning his position/coverages.

If the two are similar, I'll take LaBoy, he's younger I believe, and he has room to improve. Haggans is a finished product.

I guess the real question is their ability to get to the QB, combined with the ability to cover when needed.

I think LaBoy has all the physical tools necessary to be an excellent 3-4 OLB. Just for kicks I went back and looked at his combine numbers, even though I know they don't mean anything, but they are almost identical to those of Vernon Gholston. Just thought it was interesting.

interesting, would you mind posting those numbers.

It sure has been quiet today. At least nothing has come out of Arizona on LaBoy so that has to be a good thing.

that's a crazy comparisson, those numbers are just about identical. And Gholston is projected top 10 this year.

The best thing about LaBoy is his motor. He's an all out all the time guy in like Grant Wistrom was. I think what he needs is great coaching more than anything.

He was a DE here at Hawaii and an absolute terror playing against mid tier competition. I'm really hoping we sign him. A combination of Peek and LaBoy would do wonders opposite Wimbley.

LaBoy could also put his hand down in 3rd and long at DE as a penetrating guy with Peek on the outside.

I personally do not want LaBoy... whats the difference b/w him and Peek? Instead, I would use the 4th round pick and get Frank Okam. He will be there. He wouldn't have to start b/c of our free agent signings of Williams and Rogers, and he could learn some technique and slowly get put into rotation when our starters get winded.

Peter King's MMQB that Shep posted mentioned that thr Browns want to do what the Giants did in winning the Super Bowl ..... and that's to be able to send wave after wave of pass rushers at opposing QBs. (Namely Roethlisberger and Palmer)

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Not that much really. But we need some depth. It's all about rotation and fresh bodies flying towards the other QB.

I'd rather have Peek AND LaBoy AND Phil's best choice w/ our round 4 pick.
