Problems:

1. Way too many fumbles and INT's.

2. WR's don't fight for the ball at all.

3. DL and LB always get chop blocked at LOS

4. OT's suck, CPU controlled DE's can just run around them.

5. Over all animation is choppy and unrealistic.

6. Player models are horrible, they look like wrestlers.

Wishlist:

1. Just work on the gameplay and graphics and worry less on "new game" modes. Its a football game.

I wish that everything in franchise mode for PS3 was the way it was for PS2. I know which one's I prefer. And its the one that should be worse.

1. all the players run like they have a stick up their ass
-needs fixed
2. Ive never seen so many lineman run down running backs before
-backs should be much faster
3. when the ball is thrown all the DB's run to that one reciever
- unrealistic, only players that see the pass should run to it.

Hell, I have a Ps3 and Madden 08 for it, but I went out and got the Ps2 version, it kicks ass BTW.

The Ps2 version rocks, it still has the great gameplay, the fun franchise mode, mini games, and everything you'd expect from the old Madden. If anyone is unhappy with the next gen Madden go back to the old, it's STILL great.

I'm sorry to say this, but as far as gameplay...NFL 2k was so much better than Madden. Madden had all these game modes, and bells and whistles, but no substance...it had the bread, the lettuce, tomato, mayo, and cheese...but no meat.

2K had the meat, bread and cheese.

Madden still has a long way to go

I play Madden, as do most people I know. And its weird b/c none of us have the issues with the Madden series that most people on this board do.

In the back of my mind I just think that a lot of people who post here are sucky Madden players so they blame the game for their own weaknesses.

Are you talking about the new madden to come out this year, or last years version?
I didn't think anything was released yet for Madden 09.

Classic stadiums (I know they did this for a few stadiums as an added bonus, but I want a classic stadium per team).

The 3-4 to actually work as designed (as in DL command doubleteams).

Make it so that play action actually slows down the passrush instead of making it a hazard.

Although I can't say that Madden 08 is a tried and true classic, I've found that with some manipulation of the sliders, you can get a fairly realistic experience out of it.

For those on PCs like me, it's nice to be able to have a community of users that create draft classes...

I'm 2/3 of the way through my second season with the Browns. Picked up Chris Johnson in the second round and he's putting up ROY numbers.

No I don't work for EA. Sorry I should have included "wishlist". I just want EA to make the gameplay somewhat realistic. The game has went downhill fast since the 360 came out. Madden 2008 was probably the worst ive played. Tons of glitches, poor animation and player models. It was a 2 out of 10 game.

I have to agree with Ndutyme, Madden is horrid compared to the old 2k games.

I tried to do a franchise on 08 and it decided not to re-sign any computer players from the colts 2 years into it. All you can do is quit and start over.

1. get rid of the "protect ball" button, you should always protect the ball. plus it's hard to execute other moves when you have to protect that button, which leads too...

2. less turnovers, when you get hit with the "hit stick" it shouldn't be an automatic fumble, it isn't in the nfl

3. touchdowns after turnovers, it seems like everytime there is an interception, it's taken back to the house, at least 90% of the time.

4. get rid of the radio guy, he sucks.

5. bring back training camp with the different drills

6. the browns should obviously be a 99

Couple of other things wrong in 2008:

1. The speed ration is all messed up. Defensive players are much much faster than offensive players. A cornerback with a speed rating of 87 can easily run with a WR that has a 97 speed rating.

Linebackers with 70's speed rating can run down RB's with 90's speed. Then when INT's happen the CB or S's can easily run it back for a TD.

2. Again WAYYYY to many INT's and fumbles, 6 int's and 5 fumbles a game is not at all real.

3. Cornerbacks go after whoever you throw to, all the players on the field fly to the WR you throw to like magnets, its sad. Corner's act more like WR's than WR's

ok im done, PLEASE EA make me a realistic football game!!

I am a huge Madden fan. Have played since the first one come out religiously. But I bought 08 when it first came out, and I have played it a total of 5 times. Horrible attempt for a football game.

This may sound really sad but I'm still playing Madden...... 2004. I couldn't justify buying the game every year basically for the roster update and it's not as though the Browns had been good. That and I play in franchise mode. I'm into my second set of 30 years (about 10 seasons in this time around). I split games with a friend of mine that isn't a Browns fan. So we start with an NFC team and move it around. This time we started with the Saints and moved them to Mexico City, where we became The Chupacabra. Now we're in Las Vegas and called the Fission. The Brown's have made it to the Super Bowl a couple of times. Unfortunatley they lost... to me.

This year, now that I'm playing on a PS3, I want to start with a new game. With the reviews of Madden 2008 being soooo bad, I'm leaning toward EA NCAA 2009.

When CBs are covering the flats, they don't react to a scrambling QB. They just sit there in their zone even if there's no receiver there. I hate that.

I really don't get this thread---most reviews of Madden 08 were very favorable. I myself found it to be the 1st next-gen football game that was up to par.

I think y'all are just poor Madden players so you hate on the game.

If by up to par you mean a steaming pile.......... well then you are correct sir.

up to par would not allow a cornerback to stop running his route when the ball is in the air, or the computer to always catch the ball in triple coverage.

up to par would not have a franchise mode with fatal errors forcing you to restart.

A whole lotta hate towards Madden...

I have 08 and play on PC. Have bought every madden out since 02.

Madden 08 is not a BAD game.... It's just not a new game, it's more or less 07 with very few bells and whistles.

That being said, its not that bad of a game and can be somewhat realistic WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SLIDERS.

I'm playing on All-Madden and when I first starting playing it, I was picked off constantly and never had more than a second to throw the ball. But once I started playing with the sliders, its made all the difference.

There are many things still wrong with Madden..such as a 3-4 defence acting like a 3-4 defence should.... but the fact is that while EA has the exclusive NFL license, I won;t play another football game.

I buy Madden every year hoping that it's realistic

8 fumbles in one game later it's back in the store. If 2K was back and we had the NFL 2K vs EA again, it would be awesome. Golden age of football gaming.

I intercepted Tom Brady 9 times in a 7 min Qtr game on All Pro. How is that is that realistic? The same game I got sacked 12 times and Joe Thomas gave up 5 of them. That's with a typical 5-7 yard drop back that kept increasing as I kept getting sacked. In the pocket outta the pocket didn't matter.

I've played Madden since it first came out and 2008 for ps3 has been a HUGE disapointment for me.

Oh and Tyler....Madden is typically the only game I've played since it came out in the early 90s. I consider myself a very good player and have won several online leagues back in the day.

I'll still say the game is trash. The models, the turnovers, the presentation and overall game play is far below the ps2 games.

Turn down INTs...both for your team and the computer.

Turn up your pass blocking and turn down computer's break block.

I get sacked quite a bit but its largely because I get "happy feet" and start to roll out of the pocket to quickly.

If you fumble that many times in the game, thats not the game, thats you. I have never had an issue with the fumbles as long as you cover up the ball.

I do think the cover button is stupid, but if you use it, you wont fumble unrealistic like that.

That's what i'm getting at...I don't want to cover the football, they should do that by themselves, and when covering the football, you are slow and can't do anything.

Whatever, I used to be a big fan of Madden, but since the got an exclusive deal, it's sucked big time

I get that...but turning up & down sliders feels like cheating to me. The game should play like a real game coming straight out of the box. Basically you shouldn't have to turn up or down sliders to make it realistic.

I hate the fact that a WR is wide open until my QB (feet planted) throws a ball straight to a LB who jumbs 10 feet high and makes a one handed interception. I've never seen that in real life and I watch alot of football.

Your both right!!!!

Madden has went south in a hurry, the reason Madden was so good and so popular was because it was a simulation game. Now its more arcade and "flashy new modes" to get people to buy it while the gameplay is horrible and filled with glitches and unrealistic animations.

It's not cheating...it's leveling the playing field.

When I played on all-pro, I boosted the sliders of the CPU to make it more competitive as if I didn't I was blowing them out.

I've moved on to madden and its ALOT harder... so I've boosted a few of my sliders (pass blocking for example) and chopped down a few of theirs (obviously INTs and def.awareness)

Check out www.football-freaks.com for slider settings and, if you play pc, downloadable draft classes.

I just finished by 2009 draft last night. First round pick...William Moore, Free Safety out of Mizzou...The Brodney Pool era is done.

I've read on a few sites that the cover will be Eli and Peyton. Heck why doesn't EA put Archie and Cooper on it too! Rename the game Manning09.

Anyway it doesn't matter how much you adjust the sliders, Madden WAS horrible last year even after adjusting the sliders. You can turn down the INT slider to 0 and still get 6-7 picks off the CPU in all-madden and they'll pick you off 9 times.

Lb's and DE's jump out of nowhere 25 feet and snag passes they weren't even looking at. Corners run across the field to a WR that werent even covering and pick it off then procede to break 10 tackles and run it back for a TD, their 12th of the game.

Again the game blows, forget the sliders, they make a small in dent in a problem thats as huge.

EA you better come through you bunch of greedy...

I've never had any of these problems you are talking about. I think you are just a poor poor madden player, how else do you throw that many picks.

You're just choosing to blame the game for your own personal short-comings.

Dude...im exaggerating a bit BUT, 5-6 INts a game really happens when you play on All-Pro or All-Madden or another person. I'm sure some of these other Madden players can affirm that the INT's and Fumbles are waaayyy out of hand.

You can go to any Madden site and see that the game was TRASHED by most madden fans because the game was awful.

I bought a Wii in January and have only rented Madden 08 but I didn't think it was horrible. I spent time trying to get used to the game play with the actual throwing motion, raising your arms to catch the ball, swinging your arms left or right to stiff arm, etc.

I did throw a lot of INTs but I thought that was just because I was trying to get used to things. I didn't notice a fumble problem. I have not seen anyone mention the Wii version so maybe some of those problems dont exist on that version.

Has anyone else played Madden on the Wii system?

I myself cannot wait until 09 comes out. I will buy my copy regardless of what they do or do not do to enhance it. I personally think that they should not release a new version every year. Go every other year that way they can see what problems really occur and update things for the next version. They could then just have downloads available for new rosters every year. I think this would give everyone a better product while still being able to use the newly drafted players.

Signing Steinbach - $49.5 million
Signing Lewis - $5 million
Drafting Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn - millions more
Restoring the Browns to champions - priceless.

You have the old system engine, I'm talking about the PS3 and Xbox360 versions.

I played the Wii and PS2 versions and they seemed pretty good. But the bigtime system games should be right on par with the Wii and original Xbox-PS2 versions and it isn't.
