Lands a 10 from IGN in the review! First one I remember seeing.

Closing Comments
Grand Theft Auto III was a revolutionary title, one that inspired a whole new generation of 3D action games. Grand Theft Auto IV is just as big a leap forward, though perhaps in subtler ways, and sets a new benchmark for open-world games. Everything in GTA IV works in harmony. The story would be nothing without the city; the city gains realism from the physics engine; the physics compliment the improved AI; the AI would make no sense without the new cover system. And on and on. There is no one major weak aspect.

A "10" is not a score we give out very often. In fact, the last time we gave a 10 to a console game was Soul Calibur in 1999. A 10 doesn't mean a game is perfect -- it means a game is pushing boundaries, expanding a genre, and doing many things to a level so far above and beyond its competitors that they overshadows any flaws. Certainly, GTA IV has some issues, the most noticeable being the occasional flaw in the cover system, but there are many more pieces of GTA IV that are better than anything I've seen from a game in the past decade. We don't give 10s often -- just to games that merit the score.

Couple more hours.....I haven't decided if I'm going out to get it. Chances are I'll wait til tomorrow. By the time I get home, I'd have to feed the baby and won't have time till after work tomorrow anyways.

But still.....15 minutes of GTA is still intriguing.....

I work Mon-Fri. Won't play before work because my kid will be taking priority. My friend is supposedly calling me when he goes out. I'll see. I'm a little tired anyways since I stayed up late and worked early.

Just give me an update when you get it.

I changed my mind.

I'm not tired anymore. My friend is going to get his copy, and although I don't have it reserved, I got connections there so might as well play a bit tonight.

I'm picking it up at midnight and playing as much as I can before I might actually have to get a little sleep before I leave home heading back to Columbus for class at 10:30 AM.

Luckily, I have some little helpers to keep me going so I probably won't have to sleep til midday tomorrow.

I gotta work tomorrow, and my kid gets up between 8 and 9. I'll probably play till about 2, then get some sleep before she wakes me up way earlier than I want. (I used to get up at 11 on a daily basis).

lmao....please tell me your kidding.

Sad thing is, you're probably serious.

Picked up my copy- FYI there's about a 20 minute load time to save onto the HDD. At least for the PS3.

Got my copy last night and played a few missions and played a little online before I had to go to bed. I have class until 4 so wont be able to play more until then. Thus far the game seems great, very happy with my purchase. Driving is a lot more difficult though, and the traffic at times is ridiculous.

how annoying is that, why do you have to save it ti the hard drive, are their any pro's to loading it to the HDD? also 3 gigs? If you have a 40 gig ps3 (good thing i have 80) you have used 7.5% of your space on 1 game alone?

what are supposed to do when you max out at 40, 60 or 80. Uninstall and install everytime you wanna play a game? or am i missing something?

After a long night...I woke up this morning and searched through some receipts...and I found my original receipt...with replacement plan included...on my way to get the new 360!

Edit: "I'm sorry Sir, your replacement plan is expired by 20 days"

I played 2 missions, drove around a bit, then went online and played one deathmatch.

Shooting controls are a little tough. Seems a little harder to aim then I remember. And fighting seems awkward and definitely tougher. Usually you just beat people down, but I was getting my face sliced apart by 2 guys after I knocked a woman down and kicked her.

Online was pretty cool. Very different set up, as you access it via your cell in the game. I played the deathmatch. You basically have the run of the city and need to kill as many opponents as you can and snatch up their money. The guy with the most money wins. It looks like you can level up online, I'm guessing for more customizations. Seems like a fun time once you get the hang of it.

The physics are pretty cool. My friend crashed his car and flew through the windsheild. If you run people over, they splatter on the windsheild and fly over the car. If you jack someone, sometimes they hang onto the car door and you drag them down the road. I usually side swipe a car and then they go bye-bye.

By the time I got it, tried to play, the game downloaded and I played, I didn't get a lot of time, but from what I can tell, the game is awesome.

I work tonight, so I'll get to play briefly since I'm going in early the next day. But I'll have Wednesday night for a good 5 hours to get into it.

Oh, and just get rid of the 360 for a PS3. There's no such thing as red rings for us.

I went to go trade in some of my games to go toward and I went to the store and it was completely sold out, how did everyone get it?

Did all of you pre-order it or what?

How much better is it than San Andreas?

I can't wait to get this thing

i preordered mine, i'm sure if you try a different place you might have luck, i heard best buy had plenty in stock

if you went to gamestop, they had a deal where you got 20% off when you traded games in towards gta4...

i haven't tried it yet, i'm sitting here staring at it, i have a hockey game at 9, should i even bother getting into it right now?

I guess I'll just have to wait a couple of days until things die down, right now every place is pretty much sold out.

And I never pre-order anymore because once I got ripped off and it was a total waste of money. But from what you guys are talking about the game sounds pretty awesome.

Has anyone tried out the shotgun yet? how is it?

I have heard of a lot of people have freezing issues on PS3. Mostof them having them during cut scenes and others just while driving around and what not. I may get this, but I may not wait to see if it is glitchy.

I played several missions from 1am to 4am last night, and a couple this morning from 10am until noon. And I have to say that the realism in this game makes the other gta's seem cartoonish.

The cars have a very real feel to them, and driving takes some time to get used to. You can't accelerate and take turns like you could in previous installments of the series. Instead, the acceleration is pretty realistic in that it takes some time to get going, and getting the hang of taking turns with any significant speed took me awhile.

Driving drunk in the game is even harder, the car seems to veer one way or the other, and the camera goes all wacky on you.

I found that the best way to get around was taxi cabs, mainly because stealing cars during missions is risky, cuz the cops in this game are serious about nailing you to the wall. They will follow you and report your location and directions to other officers in the area---and those officers will attempt to head you off at upcoming intersections. The only way to lose cops is to get out of the "hot" area while staying out of their line of sight---not an easy endeavor.

I found that the destructible environments are pretty sweet---its good to see that you can blast a hole in a wall that some chump is trying to hide behind. The sound of gunfights is pretty realistic too.

Overall, this game takes a lot more strategy than the gta of the past. The realism makes this game a lot tougher. Definitely a great game though.

I didn't preorder mine, I planned on going to Best Buy today on the way to work. But my friend wanted me to go up to Game Crazy last night, where he preordered his. His brother works there, and he called up and had him set one aside. They were going by numbers for the preorders. When he got let in, I just went in with him, walked up to the counter, and picked it up.

I really want to play now, but I gotta feed my daughter before I go to bed, and work earlier tomorrow than I was originally scheduled for. But after I cut the grass in the evening, eat dinner, and put the wife and kid to bed, I got the rest of the night to play.

According to Gamespot, it's not just the PS3. They are reporting the same problem with both the PS3 and 360. As of the time the article was written, Rockstar didn't have a comment for it.

Go buy a 200GB 2.5" HDD with 8mb cache and 5400rpm and install it into your PS3 and you won't have to worry about it.

Yeah, I have a 360 and had only heard of it with the PS3, but figured that it was all systems, that is why I am waiting at least a week or 2 to see. I haven't went out and got XBOX Live yet and if they post updates online, I won't be able to get them, so I need to make sure the glitches aren't a major thing befire I buy it.

You will probably need to wait for a Game of the Year edition if indeed the problem is in the code of the game. They will not want to have to re-certify the regular version just for a patch. They will just patch it (via the network) for the regular version so if you don't have live/psn you won't get a fix on the regular version.

I'd highly recomment getting live because of issues such as this. Most games are comming out with problems because of the rush to get it released. Gaming companies know they can always patch issues and basically the early buyers are paying for a beta test.

This is especially tru for EA games. Hopefully with the money from GTA IV TakeTwo will be able to stop EA from taking them over.

You can do that as well, remember anything you buy off the PS store you can re-download 5 times before you have to pay for it again.

But it is easy to install a new larger HDD if you ever want to. Use another portable HDD or a 1-4gig flash drive to back up your save data. Then switch the HDD's.

You will have re-download games because they can't be backed up (to prevent people from sharing games for free). In a matter of 5 min you can have your new HDD installed and it will install the PS3 OS automatically. Then type in your account name and password and install your back up data and voila, more space.

Also, buy a case for your old HDD and you can hook it up via the USB and save all video, music and pictures on it and it will free up the internal HDD for games and game data only.

Just to re-iterate, you can use any 2.5" Laptop HDD as long as it has 8mb cache and 5400rpm's. I got my 200gb for $120 off new egg about 3 months ago.

Played some last night and the game is pretty impressive, although I will disagree with some who have said the driving is realistic. It's like driving with twizzlers for shocks. I feel like I'm on a damn jet ski with how the thing rocks back and forth. Hopefully an update will take care of it but who knows. The driving needed adjusted but it's way out of wack in my opinion.

Aside from that the graphics are fantastic and the cut scenes are fairly entertaining. Don't want to comment to much and be a spoiler.

Definitely worth the money.

After the first date to the bowling alley, I took her out to play pool the second date. I just hit the "say goodnight" option. I'll wait a few dates before I tap it.

My freind said he took her to a strip club on the second date and she didn't like it.
