I bought a 2000 Chevy Silverado. Vortec engine, great tires, 4x4, tow package, bedliner already installed, running boards, rain guards. I brought my buddy with me who knows a lot about cars, and who used to do claims work for an Insurance company. He checked the engine, and all the body lines. He liked it, and I liked it. 77,000 miles. -They wanted 11,000- I talked him down to 10,000.
Drawbacks -no cd player, no power windows, no power locks.

Wouldn't have been my choice but sounds like your happy with your purchase and that's what matters most. After all you have to make the payments.
As far as the cd player... get online and find the one you want. You'll get what you want instead of the factory garbage. If your a savy online shopper you won't pay too much for it either. Easy enough to install on your own.
Power windows and locks... you have arms and a key right? Power options are nice until they die. My wife's Passat's automatic door lock died. They wanted an arm and a leg to fix it. If and when my truck's window or lock assembly dies, I'll pop the door panel and fix it myself. As could most people. Power options are just things you have to pay others to fix.

Yeah, I'm cool with it. It's a truck- you know? Just a truck. Nothing fancy, but powerful. It even has the "old man" seat upholstry.-Not really a color, just dark with a bunch of little colors sprinkled in. I love it, especially on the freeway when I zoom around people like the total hillbilly redneck that I am.

Apparently i'm too late...But...in the future....
If you like your money you'll buy a Toyota truck.
GM, Dodge, Ford = overrated performance, crummy gas mileage, and HORRIBLE residual value. Go out and buy a consumer reports....Then ante up a little more extra cash than you intend on spending, then buy a one or two or even three year old Toyota truck....That way you don't have to eat the immediate and large depreciation that hits a vehicle hard when its driven off the lot for the first time and you get a reliable vehicle that won't kill you in the end.
Especially if your financing this vehicle...Take my advice...Don't buy GM, Ford, or Dodge unless you like having negative equity for 95% of the loan.

Put down some cash, and don't trade in every year or two, and you won't be upside down.

But come on, some people like carrying 3-5k over to the next loan, because you know, the dealer is "paying it off"
It's been so nice having a 2 year old car and no car payment now.

Not familiar with the cleveland market. Driving a Ford now (1st one), a Ranger XLT and it is OK, been somewhat bulletproof for the most part. My favorite owned is still a Nissan 4 banger I owned, and did some landscape work with for a few years. Had about 140,000 on it when I traded it. Very stout and like the stability, the "feel" of it. Good luck!

I have a 2 year old car and I have 2 more years to pay her off But the car was $24,000 so there was no way I could buy it without financing her. My payment isn't bad, $276 a month, but I always pay $300 minimum a month and try to pay at least $50-$100 over so I am paying more principle versus interest. I have been doing that for going on 2 years now so if something happens financially to us I can skip a payment. I know that doesn't look good at all but I can in an emergency situation. It sucks b/c I could have bought a car straight out if it was cheaper than the Si, but I wanted that specific car and also wanted to build up my credit for the ultimate goal of a house for my girls.

Some people like to do that over, and over, then before you know it, they owe 20,000 on a car thats worth 8,000

I was lucky, business was very good when I bought my car, and was able to put a good amount down, and make very large monthly payments to pay it off in just 21 months. Did it just in time, now that business is off, I am not making as much, so it is very nice to not have a car payment, but still have a newer and dependable car. Although I think I want to get a Roush now.
