Vers I have let you know before that i enjoy reading your post . You always seem to take the opposite veiw and it leads to another angle to look at things.

Now saying that if you were drunk for the first time in a long time and that was all you said ...well....it was ok ..don't worry about it..

numbskulls? hey, I resemble that remark

Sometimes we get too emotionally invested in our opinions concerning the Browns b/c we love our team. This whole discussion revolves around a back-up LBs. Actually, that's good news. This time last year we were worried about the OL among other things. BTW I'd be more than happy to pop a cork with anyone on this board.

Regardless of the merits of my previous post......I would like to apologize for what I said. I was drunk for the first time in a very long time and I don't even remember making that post. What I said was offensive and wrong.

I apologize to anyone I offended. I wish I could delete the post so no one else would have to read it, but I can't. So, once again.........I'm sorry for saying what I did.

Well.........what didn't I drink? Gawd.........I feel like crap.

I went out w/my kids. We spent the entire day on my daughters boyfriend's boat. Drank a lot of beer in the boat. Hell, I even tried my hand at Wake boarding.

Then we went to a lake house and I drank Yagermeisters, [not sure how to spell it], more beer, bourbon, a couple of shots of tequila, more beer. You get the picture. Then we take a boat ride to some bar on the lake. I was drinking shots and more beer there. I capped the night off by jumping in the lake at around 2:30 in the morning. *L*

Good thing my wife was w/us and she doesn't drink. I don't think I could have drove home. Of course, she isn't real happy w/me today.

I have no idea why in the hell I signed on here last night.

And if I did offend anyone.........perhaps you can take comfort in the fact that I am in misery today. I just can't hang like I used to.

Damnit Dub, I was hanging on the edge of my chair, thinking that you were about to finally solve that riddle of ages: Which came first?

I wonder if the fortunes that gave us a gift-schedule last year will balance themselves out and make our schedule brutal this year. If that's the case, we could conceivably go 9-7 or 10-6 and NOT take a step back. It'd be important to understand that such a record wouldn't be a failure. I hope the fans would get it.

I also dig your comments about the media. Let the hate flow through you, and welcome to the club

Vers,

Do you remember the other post you made?

It was really good stuff...mostly about how bad you really want the Browns to start BQ and trade DA and that Pool is going to have a breakout year.

I have to admit...I was shocked at first...then I kind of warmed up to it.

Considering the cocktails of death you whipped through your body last night...both posts weren't too bad.

Hehe...Wake boarding???

You must have been drunk.

When on a boat, never leave the lounge chair except to pee or make up a new shaker of Manhattans.

I was saying this on the "other" board... I could see us going 8-8 and being essentially every bit as good or a little than we were last year. I hope not but I think anything between 7-9 and 9-7 is a very real prospect. Totally rests on RAC's and the injury god's heads. Of course the torches would get lit and everyone would get thier stakes and pitch forks.

IMO injuries are one the one factor that could de-rail the train faster than anything. Whenever I see posts that speculate on trading away Davis, Anderson,Tucker etc. I cringe. Hopefully Phil can add to the roster rather than subtract. Depth is what is needed now. A handful of players added to the roster can be an insurance policy against injuries. Orr was one of them.

1 off. tackle
1 def. tackle
1 CB

maybe :
1 safety
1 LB

We can debate any of the areas of need until the cows come home.

Any of these depth needs can easily be addressed through the draft that we have left and a few free agents from now until September. The players don't necessarily need to be top level talent to qualify for depth needs.

Bit surprised to see Chaun go; hope this guy is a good replacement. Don't know if I should yawn or be excited . . . . Hope specials are stronger (like we practice real tackling). Welcome aboard, son! Now earn your beans!

j/c:

I thought I would use this thread to address a couple of questions that were asked in the locked FA thread.

Quote:

Aren't LT's normally 'better' than RT's in talent though? and thats why they are placed on the left side? or is that just a 'stereotype'? lol...

and

Quote:

Yeah, which makes me wonder why teams don't put their best pass rusher over the RT on obvious passing downs.

Left tackles need to have better feet. Agility, quickness, and technique are huge. That's why Joe is a pure LT. Right tackles typically don't need to have great feet. However, they have to be stronger and are generally better run blockers.

I don't know if LTs are better, but it is way more rare to find a 300 + lb. man who has great feet and agility. Therefore, they are more valuable to a team.

The second question is easily answered too. Right defensive ends usually don't line up over the right tackle because that is generally the offensive team's strong side. Teams usually line up their TE to that side and run to that side. There are exceptions, but it is the rule.

Therefore, the LDE must be stronger at the point of attack. He must be able to physically withstand double teams. RDEs rely on their quickness to get to the passer, but usually aren't strong enough to overcome getting hit right in the mouth on the majority of plays.

Make sense?

Vers if i may add...

I think the LT should be a better pass blocker because he is protecting the QB's blind side.

The RT is protecting a side that the QB can see in his natural drop back. Its more important to protect the side he cannot see.

Yes, that is true.

You may enjoy reading the article about the rise of importance in regards to left tackles. According to the article, it started when Joe Theisman got his leg broken. I've seen it posted on here a couple of times.

Yep.....they (as a rule) don't re-sign aged players, especially as you mention LB.

you are right - he ended up at Steelers West, aka 'Zona

I wish Clark the best....
